Looks like Gilbert Arenas may be taking a page out of the 50 Cent"Nah, I'm too broke to pay for these kids" handbook. The former NBA baller just told the family courts he needs to send his kids to public school instead because he just copped his last check from his $111 million NBA contract. Deets inside...
Gilbert Arena may have basically been kicked out the NBA, but thanks to that guaranteed contract he signed back in 2008, he was still being paid out his $111M contract over the last 8 years. His final check comes this month.
Gilbert decided to tell family courts that he will be "too broke" to pay for his kids' private schooling. We're sure his babies' mother Laura Govan is going to love this one.
By the way, he'll be getting close to $170K in investment income every year from this point on. That's in addition to any job he decides to get. TMZ reports:
The problem, Arenas says ... is now that he's no longer getting NBA checks, he'll only earn $169,895 per year in investment income ... not enough to live the BALLER lifestyle he's used to.
So, Arenas says he has to make some serious cuts -- and one of the items on the chopping block is the private school where he sends his kids ... which runs $91,600 per year.
"I anticipate that the children will need to transfer to public schools in 2017 and beyond."
So, where did all his money go? The site states:
For the record, Arenas reportedly made more than $160 MILLION during his NBA career ... not including tens of millions in endorsements.
Something tells us a large portion of that $160M+ is stashed away somewhere, somehow. Dude even has a movie theater in his house:
Things should get interesting....
