Pop phenom Lady Gaga penned a song titled “Angel Down” in memory of slain Florida teen Trayvon Martin, whose death launched the Black Lives Matter movement in 2012. And she performed it for the first time at the Bud Light x Lady Gaga Dive Bar Tour in NYC this week.

The Grammy Award winner did an interview with Beats 1 recently to talk about the track that will appear on her new album, Joanne (which dropped Friday and it's already #1). Gaga revealed she wrote the track in response to "the epidemic of young African-Americans being murdered in this country."

"I was overwhelmed by the fact that people just stood around and didn't do anything about it, and that the justice system continues to, over and over again, not seek justice for these families," she said.

She said although she isn’t African-American, she felt it was her duty to speak on the issue and to provide comfort for her fans.

"They tell me they drive in their cars, and if they hear a siren, there is a paranoia that runs through their body, that they freeze up, that they can't think. This is a tremendous anxiety," she said. "This is something that I care about. This is something that has to stop, something that we all need to heal from."

She also added: "How can I not say something?" How could I possibly make an album about twerking my a-- in the club?... In my mind, I can't reckon it. It feels empty. It feels irrelevant."

She gets it.

In political news...

Oprah has a message for those undecided who to vote for in this upcoming presidential election: “There really is no choice.”

Agreed.

The media mogul appeared on the “T.D. Jakes” show to talk politics. And she said she has refrained from being vocal about this election because she wasn’t sure if she had words that would be loud enough to be heard over all of the “noise and chaos” that’s going on to actually be heard.

“The reason why I haven’t been vocal, other than saying I’m with her, is because I didn’t know what to say that could actually pierce through all the noise and the chaos and the disgusting vitriol that’s going on and actually be heard,” she said.

Lady O went on to tell the audience that the debate about who one should vote for isn’t really a debate at all.

“But there really is no choice, people,” she said. “All the people sitting around talking about they can’t decide. This is what I what I wanna say. I hear this all the time. You get into conversations, and there’s not a person in this room who hasn’t been in this same conversation, where people say, ‘I just don’t know if I like her.’”

She continued,

“She’s not coming over to your house! You don’t have to like her. You don’t have to like her. Do you like this country? Do you like this country? You better get out there and vote. Do you like the country? Do you like freedom and liberty? Do you like this country? OK. Do you like democracy or do you want a demagogue?”

True words indeed. No question who Lady O will be voting for.
