Election years tend to shine a light on important issues like women's health more than ever. While many of us have the ability to go to the doctor of our choosing and be offered the best health care available, many of us do not. Whether it's affordability, accessibility or knowledge that prevents many women from receiving proper healthcare, organizations like Planned Parenthood have stepped up to the plate to fill that gap.
In its centennial year, well known politicians, actors, judges, and even a reverend are speaking to the importance of women from every city having access to proper healthcare. We also hear an important take on what being pro-life really means. The overwhelming majority of what the organization does is offer proper healthcare to those who need it. Still, some politicians have been on a mission to defund Planned Parenthood in efforts to remove them from cities and states.
Keshia Knight Pulliam bluntly says in the video:
"My vagina is no politician's business. It's just that simple."
Cultural Critic and Writer Jamilah Lemieux broke down PP's importance saying:
"To take a Planned Parenthood out of the community means you're taking away a facility that provides breast cancer screenings, provides STD and STI screenings, provides access to birth control and free condoms and a number of other really important health services."
