Lil Wayne just released his prison diary in the form of a new book titled "Gone ‘Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island."
The Young Money honcho chatted with the New York Times about a plethora of topics, including his recent comments about the #BlackLivesMatter movement. You’ll recall, Wayne said he’s never experience racism and that it doesn’t exist during an interview on “Undisputed.” Well, he still feels that way. And he doesn’t care who doesn’t like it.
He told the publication:
“I was on a sports show recently, and I was asked a question like that about black lives or whatever. When we got off the air, [the host] Shannon Sharpe said: ‘I really want to commend you for answering like that, because you didn’t make something up just to make yourself one of us. And to make yourself a victim.’ I’m not that. And honestly, I don’t care. I care what’s going on with me and my kids and my world and my mom and who’s going to pay this next bill. That’s what matters to me."
He still doesn't get it, but he might as soon as someone in the world happens to not know that the kid they're treating like crap is Lil Wayne's kid. Privilege comes in all forms.
The New Orleans native, who’s currently in the midst of a multi-million lawsuit with Birdman and Cash Money, seemed optimistic about the outcome of his long-going feud with his label. Does he see a light at the end of the tunnel?
“I do,” Wayne said. I” don’t have to even look. I’m gonna make sure that there’s light. If there’s a wall at the end of the tunnel, I’m gonna shoot that [expletive] down. And there’s gonna be light behind that wall.”
Weezy also talked about the new wave of rappers on the scene. Well, he tried. When asked, "Are there rappers in the new school that are motivating you? Are you keeping up with Yachty, Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Kodak?" His answer:
“I swear to God I didn’t know you were saying people’s names just now, so that should probably answer that question. I just do my own thing.”
Ha!

Soulful singer Erykah Badu (who will be hosting the 2016 Soul Train Awards) and Nas took their talents to “Jimmy Kimmel” to perform their powerful duet “This Bitter Land,” a cut from The land’s original soundtrack. A string section backed the music titans as they spit their socially conscious lyrics about being a black person living in America.
Erykah stars in the film and Nas serves as an executive producer. The indie project, directed by Steve Caple Jr, tells the story of four teenage boys who devote their summer to escaping the mean streets of Cleveland, Ohio to pursue a dream life of professional skateboarding. Unfortunately, they get caught up in a drug operation. The film also stars former "The Wire" actor Michael K. Williams and rapper Machine Gun Kelly.
