Nate Parker continues on the Birth of a Nation press tour, stopping by “Good Morning America” this morning. Find out what he said about all of the media attention surrounding the rape accusation and his sitdown with Bishop T.D. Jakes inside…

We’ve been talking about the 17-year-old rape case that was brought against actor Nate Parker since August since it resurfaced before the debut of his upcoming slave revolt film, Birth of a Nation.

Now, Nate (above arriving at "GMA") is over it. He doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. The YBF actor, who wrote, starred, produced, and directed the film, smugly told Robin Roberts on “Good Morning America” this morning that it’s not about him. It’s about the story of Nat Turner.

“I think the important thing is, this isn’t about me," he said. The story of Nat Turner as an American, as American people, to know the story about a man who was erased from history, at some point, I think that’s where our focus should be. Especially now, so many things are happening in America.”

Last night, Nate appeared on “60 Minutes” for an in-depth interview with Anderson Cooper for his first televised interview amid the rape controversy. During the interview, he said he’s not going to apologize to the woman who accused him of raping her because he was falsely accused and was found not guilty.

During his interview on “GMA,” he said he no longer wants to talk about the rape accusations because he has spoke about it more than enough. He wants everyone to focus their attention on the movie and the story be told.

Nate Parker also appeared on T.D. Jakes’ daytime talk show today to talk about his 8-year journey to making Birth of a Nation. The actor discussed the long history between the police and black people and how the role of police during the reformation is similar to how it is today. Peep the clip above.

Nate’s episode appears on “T.D. Jakes” today. Check your local listings. It will also be available on OWN at 6pm EST.

Birth of a Nation is set to hit theaters Friday, October 7th. Are you planning to go see it?
