Nate Parker says he will not apologize, nor does he feel guilty about the almost two decades old rape case that recently resurfaced.  FInd out the controversial statements he made in his first televised interview with “60 Minutes” inside….

Over the last few months, Nate Parker has made headlines over a 17-year-old rape case that resurfaced when he started promoting his new slave revolt film, Birth of a Nation. The Nate Turner film scored a history-making $17.5 million sale from Fox Searchlight and it’s getting a lot of Oscar buzz. But, the film has been overshadowed over rape allegations that were brought against him while in college.

Nate and his friend Jean Celestine (who co-wrote Birth of a Nation) were accused of raping a woman at Penn State back in 1999. Nate was cleared of the charges in 2001. His friend was first found guilty, but later won an appeal and was cleared of any wrongdoing.

It was later learned the accuser dropped out of Penn State and committed suicide in 2012, which her family has been adamant that it was a result of the rape case.

Nate has since spoken to several media outlets about the ordeal. And now, he’s giving his first televised interview to “60 Minutes.”

The 36-year-old father, who wrote, produced, directed and starred in the film, sat down with CBS correspondent Anderson Cooper for an in-depth interview about the case and how he feels about it.

In so many words, he said he will not apologize for it.

“I was falsely accused …I went to court …I was vindicated,” Nate is quoted as saying during the interview. “I feel terrible that this woman isn’t here … her family had to deal with that, but as I sit here, an apology is ― no.”

While he said he feels like he did something morally wrong at his young age (he didn't specify which part, exactly, he's speaking of), he doesn’t feel guilty about it.

“I don’t feel guilty,” he said to Anderson.

“As a Christian man, just being in that situation, yeah, sure. I’m 36 years old right now, and my faith is very important to me. So looking back through that lens, I definitely feel like, it’s not the lens I had when I was 19 years old.”

He revealed he learned about the accuser’s suicide on the news just like the rest of us, and he was “devastated.”

“It was shocking. I couldn’t believe it,” he said. You’ll recall, he issued an open letter expressing how much sorrow he felt about her death.

The interview will air in its entirety Sunday, Oct. 2 at 7 pm EST. We’ll definitely be watching.
