Things are shaking up at "The Wendy Williams Show" studios resulting in pink slips being issued to a few of her producers. Meanwhile, Tyrese and Rev Run’s talk show has been cancelled by OWN after its first season. Deets inside…
Heads are rolling at “The Wendy Williams Show” studio!
Word on the curb is that several producers have been fired following Wendy’s controversial HBCU comments a few weeks ago. You’ll recall, she said she took issue with HBCUs and the NAACP because there’s no white equivalent and alluded to them being racist. *rolls eyes *
Ish hit the fan when Wendy reportedly lost an endorsement deal and TV One host Roland Martin dragged her to the high heavens. She eventually apologized.
Now, someone’s paying for the huge flub, and it’s not Wendy. According to Page Six, longtime producer Jason Gabel and at least two other senior staffers were given the boot right after celebrating with the crew for another successful season.
A source tells the site,“The crew had a big party celebrating what they considered a season well done. The next day [some of them] got calls saying they’d been let go.”
Damn! That has to suck. Especially when Wendy calls herself a boss. Shouldn't she be making the final decision on what she ends up saying and not saying instead and taking responsibility for it?
In other TV news....
Welp! It’s a wrap for Tyrese and Rev Run’s new talk show “It’s Not You It’s Men.” The two-man talk show debuted on OWN in January of this year, but it appears the viewership wasn’t up to par, so OWN cancelled the series after it’s first season.
Tyrese, who's working on Fast and Furious 8 and Transformers 5, didn’t waste any time to spread the news that his show will NOT be renewed (check it above and below). But, he did thank auntie Oprah for the opportunity.
As of yet, no official word from OWN about the cancellation. Rev Run hasn't addressed it on his social media either.
