News of singer Mary J. Blige filing for divorce after 12 years of marriage took us all by surprise yesterday. Now, the queen of hip hop soul is explaining why she made the move.
Mary's rep released a statement about the divorce to Us Weekly saying:
"Ms. Blige is saddened to say it is true that she has filed for divorce, saying sometimes things don't work how we hoped they would… but there is a divine plan and a reason for everything," the statement read.
"Mary will continue writing and working on her album, which is due out later this year, along with her world tour. She thanks and appreciates her fans for their support and love through this very difficult emotional time."
Now that we know for a fact she's working on her next album, we'll be twiddling our thumbs waiting to hear that fire we already know she's about to bring.
