Chris Rock’s girlfriend Megalyn Echikunwoke is gearing up for a lead role in a new movie about a black sorority girl who has to teach white sorority girls how to step in order to get into law school. Are we here for it? More inside….
No, Chris Rock’s girlfriend Megalyn Echikunwoke isn’t just arm candy on a red carpet. She’s an actress who has starred in shows like “90210” and “House of Lies.” Now, she has landed her next gig. And here's the gig she chose.
Megalyn is set to lead a "dance comedy" called Step Sisters, formerly titled Ain’t No Half Steppin’. While it’s nice to see Megalyn getting work, we’re giving the film’s synopsis a major side eye.
Check it:
“Step Sisters” centers on an ambitious black sorority girl (Echikunwoke) who, in order to get admitted to the law school of her dreams, agrees to cross cultural lines and teach the exclusive art of black Greek stepping to a band of wild, party-obsessed white sorority girls whose charter is about to be revoked.
Is this real life? Why is this being made? Do we really need a movie where a black sorority girl teaches white sorority girls how to step in order to get into law school?? Are her grades not enough? So many questions….
The rest of the cast includesNaturi Naughton (“Power”), Nia Jervier (“Dear White People”), Marque Richardson (“Dear White People”), Eden Sher (“The Middle”), Lyndon Smith (“Secret in Their Eyes”), Gage Golightly (“Red Oaks”), Alessandra Torresani (“The Big Bang Theory”), and Matt McGorry (“Orange Is the New Black,” “How to Get Away with Murder”).
Shooting begins June 1st in Atlanta and the film is expected to be released in 2017. Are you here for it?
