Misty Copeland was the belle of the ball in a purple number before hitting the stage for her opening night performance of “Firebird.” Oh, and her fiancé Olu Evans was right by her side. Come inside to see Misty shut down the carpet, plus flicks of Cynthia Erivo and Star Jones hitting the carpet….

Prima ballerina Misty Copeland made a grand entrance at the American Ballet Theatre’s Spring Gala held at The Metropolitan Opera House recently. The ABT principal dancer strolled up to the red carpet in a purple embroidered gown with a train from Prabal Gurung’s spring ’12 collection and she looked flawless! She chose this purple number as a tribute to musical icon Prince.

Misty worked the carpet before lacing up her ballet shoes for her opening night performance of “Firebird.” As you may know, the ABT soloist became the third African American female soloist at ABT in 2007 and is currently the only African-American woman in the company. She’s also the first black woman to nab the lead in Swan Lake.

While her career has skyrocketed to new heights, she's still braking barriers and accomplishing big feats. Most recently, Mattel revealed a new Barbie doll made in her likeness and honor. Also, her documentary, Life In Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina, will be turned into a big screen film. Nice!

The ABT soloist also posed it up with fashion designer Prabal Gurung which he captioned, "It's always an honour to meet the incredible women who wear our clothes, and @mistyonpointe, you couldn't have worn our gown better. Your tribute to Prince by choosing this purple one of was very thoughtful, compassionate and very poignant. You're a true inspiration and muse. xPG”

Former "The View" co-host Star Jones, who's producing a new show titled "Satan's Sisters" was also in the mix. Fab times!

The Spring Gala raised $1.7 million to go towards ABT's artisitc and educational intiatives. Sweet!
