Birdman is addressing a plethora of topics in a new interview with Hot 97, including why he went off then stormed out on “The Breakfast Club,” his current relationship with Lil Wayne and much more. Find out all he said, plus Diddy’s new magazine cover and his music retirement announcement inside….
We’re sure you remember when Birdman rolled up to Power 105 to check “The Breakfast Club” for not putting any “respeck” on his name. If you missed the interview, we know you’ve seen the countless (and super hilarious) memes.
Well, Birdman is now addressing his confrontation with the morning show with HOT 97 where he explains why he was so savage to the radio personalities, specifically Charlamagne, soon as he walked through the door. The HOT 97 personalities traveled to Miami to speak with the Cash Money honcho inside his mansion where he said (via AllHipHop):
“I think for a few years he’s just been slandering my name, not respecting me. To me as a man, it was deeper than music, so I just wanted to go up there and see what’s happening. Put some respect on my name…”
“I can understand a man with his opinion, and that’s respectable. But I feel when you’re going off the record and taunting me for years, I feel as a man I’m going to make sure that man respects me as a man. There’s no other way about that.”
You’ll recall this whole “are y’all finished or y’all done” controversy started after rappers Rick Ross and Trick Daddy said a few things about Birdman that he didn’t agree with. He explained he and Ross started out as homies, but hasn’t spoke to each other in a while and he’s fine with that. As for Trick Daddy, he pretty much said he knows that Trick knows he’s about that life and that Trick won’t be making those types of comment publicly again.
“Me and Ross were like brothers, everyday hanging together. One of the reasons we came to Miami is because them n*ggas embraced us. I don’t know what his call was to even get in me and my son’s business, so whatever business me and him have, that’s my son. That sh*t’s gonna work itself out.
"I have the utmost respect for Ross. I taught him a lot of game in this sh-t. He watched my pimping, and he went and did his own thing with it. It threw me off. I ain’t spoke to him or seen him. If we speak, we speak. I can go the rest of my life not speaking to nobody. I don’t give a f*ck about that.”
The Cash Money honcho also opened up about his current relationship with Lil Wayne, whom he called his son several times during the discussion. He said he believes their “beef” is more of a misunderstanding rather than it being an issue over money. Wayne filed $51 million lawsuit against his "daddy" last year after issues with his album, Tha Carter V.
He said:
“I think it’s more of a misunderstanding than a money issue. If you knew me, I always gave Wayne everything he ever wanted…”
“Me and him talk. You best believe that situation is going to work itself out. Our relationship has changed. I always wanted to be part of my son’s life any kind of way possible. That’s important to me. I love him. We’re gonna figure it out…”
“Wayne’s always been his own boss. I never interfered in nothing Wayne wanted to do. I always embraced it. Me not putting out Tha Carter V, why wouldn’t I? I got a lot of money invested in Young Money and Wayne. I want to get some of mine back… I think the world deserves a Carter V. Whatever he wanna do, I’m good with.”

Hip Hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs graces the June issue of Cigar Aficionado magazine where he opens up about hanging up his microphone…for good.
Yep, Diddy will be retiring from the music industry after he drops his final album (No Way Out 2) to focus on his film career. He told the magazine he plans on dropping the album then will do a last victory lap with a world tour.
He said (via PEOPLE), “I'm going to put out my last album and devote 100%of my time to doing films … I want to stop at a great place and a final album is a great place to stop. I want to take a victory lap, to do a world tour and really enjoy it once last time."
The Bad Boy honcho, who will appear as an advisor on “The Voice,” then talked about how his catalog of hits will keep his legacy alive. He explained:
"When I'm gone, only the songs will survive. I know I'm making music that will live on. I don't go into the studio just to be hot or to hear myself on the radio. Michael Jackson, Tupac, Biggie – part of them lives on in their music, even though they're not here anymore. That's really deep, man. The only thing like that is religion."
No word yet on when No Way Out 2 will be dropping, but we’ll keep you posted.
