“Saturday Night Live” took us down memory lane to honor iconic musician Prince after his untimely death. Get nostalgic inside…

Just days after Prince’s untimely death, NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” put together a special tribute to honor the man, the myth and the legend. This weekend’s episode was suppose to be re-run, but producers quickly put together a tribute episode titled “Goodnight Sweet Prince” where they highlighted all of the Purple One’s “SNL” performances.

“Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon was tapped to host the special episode where he opened up with an emotional monologue. He said, "Prince has been a special presence at Saturday Night Live for the last four decades from his debut as a 22-year-old in 1981 to his surprise performance at the after-party for SNL's 40th anniversary. There was always something about a Prince performance. It was special. It was an event."

Facts.

Peep the clip below:

The show went through several of Prince’s “SNL” performances, including performances of his tracks “Partyup,” "Electric Chair" for SNL's 15th anniversary special, "Beautiful, Loved & Blessed,” he teamed up with Lianne La Havas for their Art Official Age duet "Clouds," "Marz" from the PlectrumElectrum LP, and a cover of Alice Smith's "Another Love."

Last but not least, Jimmy shared the epic moment when the Purple One did an impromptu performance at the star-studded “SNL” 40th anniversary during an after party last year. Comedian Dave Chappelle informed Jimmy Fallon Prince was in the mix where he invited him to the stage for a performance. He said the crowd parted as he floated to the stage and then he tore the house down.
