We’ve got a round up of events that went down over the weekend. Peep pics of the “Empire” cast, NeNe Leakes, the “black•ish” kiddies, Meagan Good and more hitting the carpet at different events inside…
The “Empire” cast has been making moves on the promo trail gearing up for the premiere of the 2nd half of the 2nd season set to kick off March 30th.
Over the weekend, the talented cast attended the 2016 Human Rights Campaign gala held at the JW Marriott L.A. LIVE hotel where they were being honored. “Empire” co-creator Lee Daniels was all hugged up on the blue carpet with his stylist boyfriend Jahil Fisher. Well aren't they cute.
The organization works to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. The annual soiree featured a swanky cocktail reception, a delectable dinner, a silent auction and live entertainment bringing together over 1,000 HRC members, family and friends to celebrate the top influencers in entertainment and politics.
Come through 'Porsha'! Serving sex appeal in a plunging high slit black gown, “Empire” star Ta’Rhonda Jones came to slay. Chick struck a pose on the carpet in a dress to kill, pairing her black gown with yellow sandals for a pop of color.
On the carpet Ta'Rhonda expressed how excited she was to be at the event telling THR, "I never thought in a million years I would be standing on this particular carpet. I love the fact that they're bringing this issue to the forefront and acknowledging that [LGBT] people do exist, they're humans, too, and deserved to be treated like humans."
“Empire” starlet and singer Serayah looked elegant in a strapless champagne Solace London floor length top and pants paired with Casadei shoes and Pamela Love jewels. The 20-year-old actress/singer finished her look with an autumn colored textured bob that we're loving.
Fresh from performing on “American Idol,” cutie Bryshere “Yazz” Gray cleaned up nicely in a black tailored suit for the event.
We see “Empire” star Gabourey Sidibe is in love with red ensembles these days. After hitting up “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in a red dress, the YBF actress slipped into another red number to attend the Human Rights Campaign gala.
On stage...
The entire "Empire" cast was welcomed with applause as they hit the stage to be honored at the prestigious event.
First, Jussie Smollett hit the stage to introduce Lee and "Empire" producer Ilene Chaiken."Growing up, I didn't necessarily have many people to look up to or identify with on television,"said Jussie. "But with this story, our creator, the great Lee Daniels, was able to make an indelible imprint on the world forever. If I had been Jamal Lyon when I was a kid, I probably would've had a much different life and a much different outlook on what life could be."
Following Jussie's introduction, Lee Daniels took the podium to talk about supporting presidential hopeful Hilary Clinton with an emphasis on passing more LGBT legislative. Lee then made a reference to presidential hopeful Donald Trump saying,"It's time for us to do the right thing. I'm not laughing, this ain't funny. He's taking over, he's coming in to take us down, y'all, and this is serious business."
Jussie was then joined on stage by British songbird Estelle to perform their joint track "Conqueror."
On Instagram...
Ta"Rhonda was busy showing off her fierce look for the night.
At another event....
Work it out then NeNe Leakes!
The self-proclaimed HBIC of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” trekked it to Las Vegas to hit up the fourth annual “One Night for ONE DROP” fundraising event, imagined by Cirque du Soleil, at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. The event was put together to help raise awareness and funds for critical water issues worldwide.
Per usual, her hubby Gregg Leakes was right by her side.
Posing it up a black-and-white sheer Lela Rose stripped dress, NeNe was all smiles on the carpet with “The Real” co-host Jeannie Mai.
As she continued her rounds, NeNe and her husband Gregg snapped it up with their squad.
Back on the carpet....
“black•ish” stars Marsai Martin and Miles Brown brought the kiddie fab on the carpet before heading inside. How cute are they?!
Elsewhere in L.A.:
Actress Meagan Good, who recently signed on to drama series “Code Black,” and her sister La'Myia Good were front and center at the “Married But Single” stage play premiere at the Orpheum Theatre. Meagan came out to support her sister La'Myia who stars in the play, produced by Je'Caryous Johnson Entertainment, that’s currently traveling across the country.
Below is a synopsis of the stage play:
Sharon Wilson is in love with R&B sensation, Julian Johnson, who knows everything about singing about love and nothing about how to give it. So after three years of empty promises and fighting off side chicks, Sharon steps out and maybe even steps up as an old flame walks into her life and gives her a taste of all the love she’s been missing. Come enjoy the ever-entertaining Je’Caryous Johnson experience and find out what happens when “I Do” turns into “I did” and a couple conveniently become Married But Single.
Sounds interesting.
"Married But Single" co-star Lisa Raye linked up with reality star Tami Roman on the carpet for a few photo-ops.
Newly engaged R&B singer Chrisette Michele, who also stars in "Married But Single," got all glammed up for the play's premiere in a red and orange cut-out high slit gown and gold sandals.
"Married But Single" may be coming to a city near you. You can check out their tour dates on here. The cast's next stop: The Arie Crown Theater in Chicago on April 1st.
