Nicki Minaj kicked off the 2015 VMAs with a medley of “Trini Dem Girls” & "The Night Is Still Young" featuring a surprise appearance from Taylor Swift. Then she cursed out Miley Cyrus. Watch it inside....
The 2015 MTV VMAs started tonight with a tribal-inspired performance from Nicki Minaj of her track "Trini Dem Girls." The song appears on her latest disc, The Pinkprint.
Nicki surprised fans by bringing out Taylor Swift (who's been bringing out everybody in the world at her own tour stops) for a performance of the song "The Night Is Still Young" (which they lip-synced).
The performance ended with a snippet of Taylor's song "Bad Blood" which was a "wink" at a brief social media battle the ladies had, earlier this summer, regarding MTV's decision to bypass Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" video as a "Video Of The Year" nominee and Taylor coming for her for speaking out.
However, Nicki is not going home empty-handed. She did win the MTV VMA for "Best Hip Hop" video for "Anaconda." Oddly, her acceptance speech included a "Thank You" to her Pastor, whom she named "Pastor Lily" (clearly there's a backstory).
