Jordan Peele and Ava DuVernay won the night during 2018 African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) Awards. Soak in their #Black Excellence and see more YBF stars in the mix, including the “Queen Sugar” cast & Keegan-Michael Key, inside…
The ninth annual AAFCA Awards was a black love fest to recognize and honor all of our black professionals doing it big in their lane.
Inside the Taglyan Theater in LA, YBF leaders were praised for their outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry as well as their commitment to civil rights, telling stories with global perspectives, breaking barriers of inclusion and more.
Jordan Peele’s Get Out horror-comedy film is undeniably one of the most talked about movies across several genres of film (especially since folks can't agree on what genre it actually is). The comedian/actor/writer/producer/writer/director was awarded the top Horizon Award. He also swept up three other awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay. Nice!
His former “Key & Peele” co-creator Keegan-Michael Key presented him with the award, reflecting on their TV run. He told the audience, the series had a lot to do with the fact that they’re both “blerds” aka black nerds. Ha.
During his acceptance speech, he explained his thought process behind Get Out and why it sparked so many conversations.
“It was designed to provoke conversation and encourage conversation," he said. "We knew if we could identify the thing that was missing from our culture; that we could fill that void and we gave people a context and a ability to talk about the issues in a new way. There was a film that we were asking for, that we were begging for; that wasn’t there for us.”
He perfectly explained why he categorized Get Out as a horror film:
“Horror is my favorite genre and it’s an important genre because that’s where we face our fears. We go to a theater collectively and in as safe an environment as possible, we face our fears. We face our horrors,” he said.
“As Black people, we are subjected to horrors every day so despite the fact that we did not see the representation of our ideas, of our faces, of our point of view, on screen, we are a loyal horror film audience, so I wanted to fill that gap and fill that void.”
Also scooping up awards...
It’s no surprise Ava DuVernay was honored for her extraordinary work. The fab directress was presented with the AAFCA Innovator Award and the AAFCA award for Best TV Series for “Queen Sugar.”
During her speech, she shared how she almost didn’t do A Wrinkle In Time for a number of reasons. In the beginning she felt she couldn’t do it because she doesn’t do kids books and she had never read the novel inspired by the film. Ava said she had a change of heart when Disney she could create “whole worlds.” She spoke about how important it is to depict Black joy as well as Black pain on the big screen.
Actors Sheryl Lee Ralph and Paula Patton also hit the stage to present.
On the carpet...
Hottie Kofi Siriboe showed off his eclectic side on the red carpet before his series nabbed an award.
"Shots Fired" star Mack Wilds kept it dapper in all black everything.
Comedian Mike Epps and his girlfriend Kyra Robinson were all smiles on the carpet.
Paula Patton snapped it up with actress Roselyn Sanchez on the carpet.
COME THRU! "Moesha" alum Sheryl Lee Ralph slayed this Tadashi Shoji look. And slayed it 10 years ago too:

They're engaged! Idris Elba just made it official with girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre, and he didn't even have to wait until Valentine's Day. See video inside of the super sweet, surprise (and very public) proposal that went down this morning...
Idris Elba is really off the market...again.
The 45-year-old actor/director/DJ just popped the question in the most casually romantic way to his 29-year-old girlfriend of around 6 months, Sabrina Dhowre.
The sexy Brit screened his new movie Yardie this morning at Rio Cinema in London, and he decided to turn things up a notch by dropping to one knee in front of the whole theater. Oh, and peep his and Sabrina's matching sneakers. So cute!
— David Marsden-Sainou (@AgentMarsden) February 10, 2018
The theater confirmed that she definitely said yes, because, chick certainly ain't stupid.
Another @riocinema first! Still 5 days to Valentines Day but @idriselba went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend live on stage this morning before a preview of his film #Yardiepic.twitter.com/XRtca1xcv0
— Rio Cinema (@riocinema) February 10, 2018
She said yes and there was much clapping and cheering.

So much for that interview he did last year with Essence magazine where he said he likely wouldn't marry again after two divorces.
"Am I ever gonna get remarried? I don’t think so. Yeah, I don’t think so. Marriage is an institution of sorts. And I’ve done it. It’s not for everybody. It’s not my life’s calling."
It looks like the former Miss Vancouver 2014 won him over, because Idris has been beaming with the fab chick on his arm at every event lately.
We knew things were getting serious when he introduced Sabrina to the next King of England, Prince Charles, during the Holidays.
We're super stoked for this black love (and yeah, low-key jealous AF as well).
Congrats to Idris & Sabrina!
We’re about to learn a lot more about rapper Gucci Mane in a new biopic coming to the big screen. Meanwhile, Zendaya has landed a role in an upcoming crime drama. On the magazine front, Storm Reid graces the cover of SEVENTEEN magazine. More inside…
Since being released from prison in 2016, Gucci Mane’s life has been on the up and up. He’s still the king of Trap Music, he got married to his love Keyshia Ka’oir, and he wrote a memoir.
Now, his life story is about to play out on the big screen.
According to THR, Paramount Pictures is teaming up with Imagine Entertainment (“Empire) to adapt The Autobiography of Gucci Mane. They have obtained the life rights to Gucci (real name Radric Davis) and movie rights to the book. The film will be made via Paramount Players arm.
Known as the Trap Music forefather, Gucci let fans in about his rise to the top, including his drug addiction, beefs he had with other artists and then his road to redemption. Since making a splash on the music scene in 2005, he has dropped 12 albums and 72 mixtapes. Several of his mixtapes were released while he was in prison.
Everything is still in the early stages for the film, but we’ll keep you posted on any updates.
Also coming to the big screen...
After hitting the big screen in the Greatest Showman, Zendaya has landed another new role. She’ll be starring in a crime thrilled titled Finest Kind, written and directed by Brian Helgeland. Actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Ansel Elgort were also announced to star in the film.
Gyllenhaal is producing the pic with Riva Marker, under their Nine Stories banner, along with Gary Foster and Russ Krasnoff via Krasnoff/Foster Entertainment, and Imperative Entertainment’s Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas.
30WEST is financing the film. STXinternational will rep international distribution sales for the film, which will be presented to buyers at the upcoming European Film Market. STX will also distribute directly in the UK and Ireland. CAA and Endeavor Content are handling the U.S. rights.
Details are still scarce, but we'll keep you posted.
If you haven’t heard, Daya will be starring and producing a passion project about the first African-American woman to graduate from Vassar College titled, A White Lie.
Daya is also one to spread love to her fellow YBF actresses... like newbie Storm Reid:
This is awesome, two bright beautiful lights (side note, Storm may be my long lost little sister) https://t.co/FoVG1RGo7h
— Zendaya (@Zendaya) February 9, 2018
14-year-old actress Storm Reid covers SEVENTEEN magazine’s March/April 2018 issue alongside her co-star Rowan Blanchard.
Before the release of their sci-fi adventure drama, A Wrinkle In Time (directed by Ava DuVernay), Storm and Rowan sit down with Reese Witherspoon where they chatted and laughed over a number of things. The girls were asked what they would do if they could travel back or ahead of time and Storm’s answer was quite impressing.
“I would want to go back to the civil rights movement and see how that was,” she told the magazine.“With the information and knowledge I have about it now, I would want to see how I would deal with it. And I’m only 14, but maybe I could see how I could influence it.”
We’re so here for our young activists who see the importance of their platform and using it for he greater good.
Storm’s cover hits newsstands Tuesday, February 13th.
Gabrielle Union wants us all to be happy, so she’s sharing some nuggets that’ll have you living your best life. She also just released the 2nd season to her NY&Co clothing collection. Get it all inside…
Gabrielle Union makes it her business to be happy despite what obstacles life throws her way.
Gracing the March 2018 issue of Redbook magazine, the “Being Mary Jane” star opens up about how she remains happy and how you can too. She breaks it down with a few guidelines you should follow for your own breakthrough.
The 45-year-old star has had her share of ups and downs throughout her life and career. She was sexually assaulted before she became an actress, she found love and married her husband Dwyane Wade, but she also had to deal with D. Wade having a “break baby” when they were broken up and 9 heartbreaking miscarriages.
Still, she’s smiling and living her best life. And here’s how she does it:
CREATE A HAPPY LIST
“I started working with a life coach who asked me to list things that make me happy, and one of my top three was imi¬tation crab! You’re not on the right track if you say imitation crab. So the life coach started to ask questions: ‘What don’t you like? What annoys you? Have you ever experienced euphoria?’ Exam¬ine those moments and you’ll start to figure out who you really are.”
RIGHT YOUR OLD WRONGS
“Part of my homework for becoming my best self is owning up to my b.s. I have to acknowledge how I’ve hurt people and make amends. I started with those closest to me, but there’s a line of people to get to. I was at a Janet Jackson concert and ran into an execu¬tive I used to work with and just had to say, ‘I’m so sorry.’ I included in the apology specifics, so they knew I under¬stood why I was wrong.... Then I lis¬tened about the thing that I did, which I didn’t even realize I was doing. I’m not saying this is easy, but it’s led to my being incorporated back into some peo¬ple’s lives. Not everyone will make up with you, but that has to be OK.”
SHOW EMPATHY WHERE IT COUNTS
“I think it’s fascinating how we offer compassion to reality stars, but we don’t afford it to the person in the mir¬ror or our family members. I’m not immune to it. Last night, I saw this girl from a reality show, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, hi!’ And I start talking to her like I know her — but it’s just that there was a marathon of her show on while I was getting my hair done, so I felt like I knew her. But when someone from my family shares an issue on Facebook that they’re going through, I’ve reacted by thinking, We’ve been hearing this same thing for 30 years, girl. I’ve had to stop myself and say, ‘Have compassion. You’ve made tens of thou¬sands of mistakes, and hopefully people have compassion for you.’ ”
LISTEN TO SOMEONE ELSE’S STORY
“On my book tour, a lot of cities felt like a revival—there were so many disclosures of abuse during the Q&A portion of talks and during the book signing; even as I was driving away people were flagging down my car in tears. I didn’t realize how big the need was for so many people to just get it out, to have someone look them in the eye and say, ‘I believe you.’ I cried a lot. I Skyped a lot with my life coach, because the horrors that I was taking in triggered my PTSD. But I feel a responsibility to offer that sense of safety and support. And luckily I have the means to help myself at the end of the night.”
SHUT DOWN NEGATIVITY
“When someone starts gossiping, I’ll be like, ‘I can’t.’ It stops people cold. They’ll ask, ‘What? What can’t you do?’ Then I’m like, ‘Listen to this. Yeah, I can’t. It’s sooo negative. Can we go back to your kid shitting? Because that was funny.’ You have to do it with a wink and a nod, but it shuts people down. I used to just do it if the conversation was centered on a loved one—you’re not talking s¬¬hit about my friends or my family members in front of me. But now it’s in general, because when you let that into your space, whether or not you’re going to spread it or agree with it, your silence makes you complicit in negative energy, and that comes back.”
MAKE YOUR DREAMS TANGIBLE
“I make a vision board every year. Some of the pictures on my first one were of a haircare line, Kenya, and a Clearblue pregnancy test. As goals manifest, I’ve been able to look at my boards and say,‘Damn, I put in a lot of work and deserve it.’ That’s helped me to stop feeling suspicious of joy. To not sabotage some¬thing before I’ve had a chance to do it because I assume I’ll be rejected. The only things that have not come to pass are a cosmetics line, Machu Picchu, and a baby. I’ve had the positive stick, but also a number of miscarriages, so maybe I just have to go more specific and show a woman with a human being traveling through her orifices. I’ll put those things back on this year’s board and see what happens.”
You should print this list out and post it up in your room to read daily. Or, cop the magazine when its released February 13th.
On another magazine front...
The gorgeous actress also landed the cover of ELLE Canada's March 2018 issue where she talked about being financially independent and not going broke over people who really could give a damn about you.
“From my first job, I’ve functioned like each job is my last,” she said. “What can I afford if all this goes away? So I don’t buy anything unless I can maintain it. Being penniless is way scarier than not having the right car.” She laughed, adding:“It’s L.A., we’re in traffic. Who’s seeing your car?”
“I don’t believe anyone should put themselves in a financial bind to be something for other people who don’t care about them. Your barometer should be ‘Don’t try to impress people who wouldn’t give you a kidney.’”

On the store front...

And Gabby is super excited about the new collection, captioning, “It's here!!! The theme of this collection is #alltogethernow, celebrating all shapes, sizes, ages and life experiences. Now get shopping and express your most fabulous self!”

LIFETIME has announced who will be playing Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in their upcoming movie and they hit the nail on the head with the similarities. Meanwhile, the Soul Food cast is hinting at a reboot. Everything inside…
By now, we all know LIFETIME can be a hit or miss when it comes to putting real-life celebs and their lives on television. So when we heard the network was doing a movie chronicling the courtship of former "Suits" star Meghan Markle and her soon-to-be husband Prince Harry, we were praying to the TV gods that they don't mess it up.
"Jessica Jones" actress Parisa Fitz-Henley will be bringing Meghan Markle to life on the small screen in LIFETIME's Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance. Casting directors did a good job appearance wise. She looks just like her. Let's just hope she can pull off the role. Meanwhile, "The Loch" actor Murray Fraser will play Prince Harry. They can die his hair and he'll be a very good match.
The film will give viewers a front seat look at how the former "Suits" star and the Prince were set up by friends to meet, follow through their initial courtship when they were able to keep their romance under wraps, and ultimately the intense global media attention surrounding their relationship and Meghan’s life as a divorced American actress. We're sure her crazed family will make it in the film because they have been doing the most.
Menhaj Huda will direct from a script by Scarlett Lacey and Terrence Coli while Merideth Finn and Michele Weiss have signed on as executive producers. Production has reportedly started in Vancouver and Los Angeles and the film will debut this spring on LIFETIME.
Will you be tuning in?
By they way, since Megan's departure, Dulé Hill has been upped to series regular on "Suits" for season 8. Congrats!
Speaking of tuning in...
After a year of reboots and still lingering rumors for more, "Soul Food" just added their title to the list of possibles. The series, not the movie.
Co-stars Nicole Ari Parker, Boris Kodjoe and Malinda Williams linked up to celebrate Super Bowl LII. And while partying, they hopped on social media to "ponder" about a "Soul Food" reboot. Peep the posts:
Food, Friends, Football and overall #GameDay shenanigans... #flyeaglesfly #sundayfunday #aboutlastnight #motivationmonday #lovewins #funtimes #superbowlsunday #Eagles #Patriots #Philly #superbowl #love ya'll @tariqmw @taiyoungstyle @solaponte @jenniafredrique @boriskodjoe @lasarnor @suga_hill @mreeves2020 @mizztamarabass @lilli_an_lee @nicoleariparker @theajzone @iamaprilwatkins @michaelelliot215 @mecca.elliot @iammiskeen
Nothing has been confirmed, but it sounds like the ladies are adding some fuel to a fire to get folks excited about bringing the show back to television. If they are able to bring it back, will you watch?

Omarosa is back, chile. She had a health scare, but she's back in the "Big Brother" house. Just one more House we're totally unsure of how she found her way into. Deets inside...
Omarosa Manigault-Newman made a dramtic exit from the “Celebrity Big Brother” house a couple of days ago. But, it was nothing like what allegedly went down when she was reportedly forced to leave the White House.
The former White House staffer was taken to the hospital after she was injured during the “Head of Household” competition on Friday night. It’s said Ross Mathews hit Omarosa with a ball during the spinning golf/bowling game. And another housemate may have accidentally hit her with a prop. TMZ reports the contestants were required to spin around until they were dizzy and then bowl.
First, she apprently had a game injury, then it was said the former “Apprentice” star suffered an asthma attack.
“Omarosa has returned to the Celebrity Big Brother house after receiving medical attention last night and today for an asthma attack,” a rep for CBS said in a statement to Page Six. “This development will be addressed on the Sunday night broadcast.”
We know she’ll have plenty to say, especially since some of her house mates believe she was faking.
See what her co-stars had to say about it below:
Before she stepped back in the house, she tweeted evitctee Chuck Liddell:

Her return played out on Sunday night's episode and she did the absolute most. As expected.
Amanda Seales spoken word about #BlackGirlMagic had us clapping and yelling “YASSSS” at the TV last night. Get into her powerful speech, plus see flicks of Reginae Carter, Erykah Badu, Kash Doll and social media stars at BET’s inaugural Social Awards inside…
Amanda Seales is one of the “wokest” YBF celebs on the scene. So, it came as no surprise that the "Insecure" star served up a dose of #BlackGirlMagic during BET’s inaugural Social Awards that aired live from Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta last night. It was a celebration of all things social media over the past year from social media stars who flood our timelines with laughs, fashion, music, social issues and more.
The social media talker performed a powerful testament to #BlackGirlMagic, as she neck rolled (like only we can do), used our creative slang and explained the art of black women clapping back.
“Bump that. We’re not hostile. We’re passionate. Clapping back is our way declaring, we ain’t having it! They go low, we go high. They say no, we defy. They didn’t want us to read. Kept us out of libraries they built. Now we are the biggest buyers of books, so we can read you for filth!”
Get into her inspirational poem below:
Also hitting the stage...
The Women’s March founders, including Tamika D. Mallory, hit the stage to accept The Social Movement Award. And rightfully so. The Women's March was a HUGE event that brought (almost) all women together after the election of Trump to protest against inequality.
CNN commentator Symone Sanders presented the ladies with the award and you can see their acceptance speech below:
Funnyman Michael Blackson was tapped as the host and he brought the laughs during the show. This outfit tho....
Social media star Blame it on Kway channeled his innter (no typo) Cardi B to accept the LMAO! Award. He brought his homie Lala Sizahands on stage with him to accept the award and then pushed her out of his way when she started "doing too much." The duo also opened the show. Check it below:
Actor and comedian DC Young Fly was honored with the Social Verified Award, presented by executive Producer Mike Epps.
Singer Erykah Badu presented Kash Doll with the Issa Wave Award.
Kash Doll also performed her hit “For Everybody." Peep her performance below:

Lupita Nyong’o is just like us when it comes to our hair. Find out what she told ALLURE magazine about learning to embrace her hair's texture and more inside...
Lupita Nyong’o may not have grown up here in the United States, but she definitely understands the universal black girl hair struggle.
The Black Panther actress graces the stunning cover of ALLURE magazine’s March 2018 The Culture of Hair Issue, rocking braids and beads as a tribute to OUR culture.
For the cover and spread, the Oscar winner and hair guru Vernon François had total control and freedom to create whatever type of looks they wanted for the issue centered on hair.
“Lupita and I wanted to show that coil-y or kinky hair has many strengths and can be worn in lots of different ways, celebrating its beauty and versatility,” Vernon François said.
Inside, the 12 Years a Slave starlet, who knows how to braid herself, opened up about her own struggle with learning to love her hair, neck pains from trying to not mess up a fresh 'do (we know that life), and which hair terms she prefers.
Below are the highlights:
On hating her hair as a child and wanting to relax it:
Well, I didn’t love my hair when I was a child. It was lighter than my skin, which made me not love it so much. I was really kind of envious of girls with thicker, longer, more lush hair. In my tween years, I started begging my mother to have my hair relaxed. She wouldn’t allow it, though her hair was relaxed. She felt that that was a decision I could come to when I was maybe 18. Around 13 or 14, I had such a rough time with being teased and feeling really unpretty. My dad intervened and spoke to my mom about my hair, and she finally agreed. She took me to the salon in the middle of the school day, and I got my hair relaxed. I felt so much better because it was easier to tame. All the girls in my class had their hair relaxed. Very few had natural kink, so I felt a lot more acceptable.
On chopping off ALL of her hair:
When I was about 18 or 19, I didn’t have a job or anything, so it was really my parents paying for my hair. So I was once asking for some more money to get my hair done and my dad joked, “Why don’t you just cut it all off?” And a few months later, I thought to myself, Why don’t I? I went into the hair salon, and I said, “Let’s cut it off.” It was almost a dare to myself: Can I live without hair? He shaved it right off. It was so scary but so liberating because I went completely bald.
On learning to love her hair texture:
Now I love my hair. I love it because I’ve also been able to really embrace the stuff it can do. It’s like clay in the right hands. Clay can be dirt in the wrong hands, but clay can be art in the right hands. Being able to have that kind of playtime with Vernon to create different things has inspired me.
On the hair terminology she prefers:
Well, I’m not an authority on this. But the term “African-American hair” is inaccurate because I’m not African-American. And I think the term “African-American” is often used as a racial term when it’s a cultural group that does not encompass every single person of African descent. So there’s that. So when you say “African-American,” you’re not actually addressing what you think you’re addressing. That’s a national identification, and it cannot be about the hair. I like the term “kinky.” Some people don’t like that term, but when I think about my hair, I think of it as African kinky hair. But I’m not really in deep with the politics of it all and the language choice. I speak just from my own experience or my own preference. Curly hair differs so much.
Can you relate to Lupita's hair struggle growing up? We sure can. Share your hair story in the comments.

The Wests aren’t worried about all the backlash Kim Kardashian West received after she posted a topless pic that her daughter North West took. You know they love all the attention. See Kanye& Kim West partying at Ellen DeGeneres’ birthday bash and see what the Chicago Bulls gift baby Chicago West inside…
Why does Kanye West continue to look like he’s in the “Sunken Place?” We’re not even being funny, but maybe that’s just one of the ways he likes to keep us talking.
The PABLO rapper kept a stone face in damn near every picture taken of him during daytime TV show host Elle DeGeneres’ star-studded 60th birthday bash. Literally, every shot he either looks lost or like he’d rather be anywhere else in the world.
Maybe it's just his smize.

Is this really appropriate? Should you have your 4-year-old take a topless picture of you?
Yes, we realize North has likely seen her mother naked before. But, when do we cross the line with involving our children into EVERYTHING? Like, what exactly is Kim K teaching North West having her take provocative photos of her?
As usual, the Kardashians love doing things to get attention and folks are fuming in her comments section on Instagram.
What do you all think? #TeamTooMuch or nah? Would you let you kid take a photo of you like this?
Speaking of kids...
The Chicago Bulls gifted baby Chicago West some Bulls gear. The NBA team sent the newest West baby a Bulls jersey with "West" and the No.1 on the back of it. Chi's mom hopped on social media to thank the team.
Baby Chicago is about to be one-month old on February 15th. Awww.

Boxer Adrien Broner is in trouble…again! Watch police drag him out of an Atlanta mall after he was accused of sexual battery inside….
Boxer Adrien Broner has found himself in some ish again. We need a prayer circle for this guy.
According to TMZ, the 28-year-old boxer was arrested in Atlanta Monday night for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in the mall. The alleged victim called the cops and soon after they came and arrested the former world champion inside Lenox Square mall. The woman reportedly told police Adrien “inappropriately groped her."
Peep the clip of the boxer being escorted out the mall below:
It’s said the incident took place in front of a Louis Vuitton store.
Adrien denied the allegations, but police felt there was enough evidence to arrest him for misdemeanor sexual battery, so they took him to Fulton County Jail to be booked. He’s supposed to go before a judge this morning.
The Cincinnati native has a hell of a rap sheet and this definitely isn’t his 1st, 2nd, or 3rd run in with the law.
Last April, police pulled Broner over in an SUV riddled with bullet holes in Covington, Kentucky, and arrested him on an open warrant for a 2014 public intoxication charge.
That was less than three weeks after he pleaded not guilty to aggravated robbery and felonious assault when a West Chester Township man accused him of assaulting him outside Madison Bowl in Oakley.
Broner's criminal history also includes charges of robbery (2010 and 2007), aggravated robbery (2007), felonious assault (2007), gun charges (2007 and 2008), domestic violence (2008), intimidation of a witness (2008) and battery (2013). All charges, with the exception of the battery charge from Florida, came from Hamilton County.
He posted up a series of bizarre messages on social media.
This man needs help.
He shared a message about working hard to be the champ again for his children.

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler wants children, but he specifically wants a daughter. In fact, he wants more than one. Find out why inside…
We’re days away before Black Panther invades the box office and director Ryan Coogler has us itching like old weave ready to see it.
YBF correspondent Unique Chapman sat down with the famed director in Washington, D.C. where he opened up about wanting children with his wife Zinzi Evans (pictured below at last night's Wakanda Fashion event in NYC). But, he was very specific whether he wanted a boy or a girl.
Something about working with the powerful group of women in the movie – including Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett and Letitia Wright– tugged on his heart and he totally wants girls. And more than ONE. That #BlackGirlMagic was enough to make Ryan want to produce some of his own.
“I found I want daughters real, real bad, he dished to TheYBF.com. Like plural. I thought, making Fruitvale (Station), I want kids. But like ,on this one, I have to have some daughters."
Wow. He knows what's good for him.
We SO can't wait to see the ladies kick a** in this Marvel film.
The 31-year-old director said after shooting this movie, he realized African-American and African cultures are a lot alike and that we didn't lose our culture (like he thought) when slaves were brought to America.
“We as African Americans are really, really African. Our African American culture, almost everything we do, is very African. I grew up thinking we had our African culture taken from us, but the truth is we didn’t. We just don’t really know. That was something crazy to find out about myself.”
All the box office hype that's surrounding Black Panther is deafening. In the best way. The all-black superhero cast (well, mostly black) is about to bring out EVERYONE as it is predicted the film will rake in a record breaking $165 million or more for the four-day President's Day holiday weekend. Earlier, Fandango revealed that advanced movie ticket sales had already set a record for any marvel movie on its first day of online pre-sales.
So basically, if you don't get your ticket early and get there on time, you might miss out. You've got about 3 days to get your ish together.

Nelly’s rep is speaking out after it was reported he’s being criminally investigated for a sexual assault case in England. Find out what they said and more inside…
Nelly is back in the headlines…and not in a good way.
Another woman has come forward to reveal the “Country Grammar” rapper sexually assaulted her while he was on tour, following similar claims made by Monique Greene. You'll recall, she said Nelly raped her on his tour bus in Seattle after his concert. He has denied all of her claims.
Nelly’s camp seems to be alluding this woman came forward after she saw Monique Greene “amend her suit for money.” Attorney Scott Rosenblum told TMZ:
"These allegations arose after Ms. Green amended her suit for money to include a reference to these claims. The fact that the police are investigating these claims is not new information and Nelly welcomes a thorough investigation. Nelly is confident that once investigated, these claims will be determined to be disingenuous."
The St. Louis native is being investigated by Essex Police when a woman came forward with sexual assault accusations aimed at the rapper. She told police Nelly sexually assaulted her on December 5th after his show at Cliffs Pavilion in Essex.
According to the docs, Nelly allegedly took the woman and her friends to his dressing room and he then led her alone into a room next door. She claims he dropped his pants and began masturbating in front of her. Then, he reportedly grabbed her top whil trying to pull it off.
She had specifics about how he allegedly tried to make her give him fellatio. She said he put his right hand on the back of her head and his left hand on her shoulder, pushed her head down in the direction of his erect penis. He allegedly was trying to put it in her mouth. Things went even more left when she allegedly tried to kiss her as she ran out the door. He allegedly called her a “c*nt” as she ran out the door.
Earlier this month, Monique Green, the first woman to accuse Nelly of rape, asked the judge for an injunction against the rapper and his penis. She asked the judge to demand he does NOT do to other women what she claims he did to her. Monique decided to drop pursuing criminal charges and is suing him in civil court instead. Nelly plans to countersue.

Nick Cannon brought the 90s feels during an episode of “Wild ‘N Out,” while the Black Panther cast invaded NYC returning from overseas. Everything inside…
Gotta love Nick Cannon for this one!
The “Wild ‘N Out” host was able to reunite the “All That” cast for a extra fun episode. Literally one of our FAVE shows watching on Nickelodeon growing up. It’s been 12 years since the sketch comedy show aired on our televisions. But seeing them all together again brought back so many memories.
All That castmates Kel Mitchell, Kenan Thompson, Lori Beth Denberg (remember her?!) and Josh Server joined forces on the black team to take out Nick and the red team. We're sure they'll bring a few laughs as "All That" certainly brought out their comedic sides.
With all the remakes and reboots, we wouldn’t be surprised if they were thinking about doing one. Would you watch?
Peep some behind-the-scene flicks from the episode below:
No word yet when this episode will air, but stay tuned to MTV on Thursdays at 11/10c.
Fresh from a press tour overseas, the Black Panther cast is back in the Big Apple for more promo before the Marvel superhero dominates the box office on Friday.
The cast joined forces at the AMC Loews 34th Street 14 to screen the film in the IMAX Theater and to participate in a Q&A following.
“Specifically for the Black children, I hope that they take away that they never have to be ashamed to be African. They should be proud,” Ryan said during the screening.
In case you missed, find out why the Black Panther director said he only wants daughters now after shooting the movie HERE.
Also at the screening...
CNN commentator Angela Rye, "Insecure" star Yvonne Orji and ESPN analyst Jemele Hill were also in the mix. Fab times.

Black History Month just got a little more beachy...and topless. Danielle Herrington is the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover girl, and she's only the third black woman to do so. See how Tyra Banks surprised her with the news, and how Michael B. Jordan already made it KNOWN he's a fan. Mmhmm....
You don't need to make a major business move or invention or kill it in a sport or on-screen to go down in the Black History Month books. If you can slay a bikini this well, you get Tyra Banks, Michael B. Jordan and a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover.
24-year-old Danielle Herrington came out of nowhere to become only the third black woman to grace the cover of SI's iconic Swimsuit Edition. Oh, and she's from Compton.
As one of the freshest faces to hit this issue, she could have fooled us. Chick's whole spread is Pro Status. Even Tyra Banks, one of the three brown queens to grace the cover (Beyonce is the other), took notice. She surprised an emotional Danielle with the news in the Tyra-ist of ways - extra AF. But we love it.
Michael B. Jordan is still on a mission to convince us he doesn't mind a little sprinkle of black girl magic in his life. So he crashed her Facebook Live she was doing this morning from the set of "Good Morning America."
Peep the 2:28 mark below:
“Keep doing what you're doing, it's an inspiration,” Jordan told Danielle after the two hugged it out.
In other words, "Hey big head. Proud of u!"
Mmhmm. We're not even mad Mike. We hear she's single, btw.
Between Danielle and Meghan Markle (and the Williams sisters, of course), Compton girls are killing the typically-reserved-for-white-women game. Keep sprinkling ladies.
Swipe though 25 of our fave pics from Danielle's spread below. Including a few topless gems. Thank us later.

We hardly recognized Justine Skye when she hit the runway during New York Fashion Week. See the look that def surprised everybody, plus 20 more hot shots of the fab chick heavy on the NYFW scene inside…
Who’s that girl?! We didn’t even recognize her.
But, it’s the gorgeous Justine Skye. The YBF chick hit the runway during Pyer Moss show held at Spring Studios to flex her model skills for the first time on a major stage.
Serving up #BlackGirlMagic vibes, Justine strutted out on the runway rocking a afro in a white oversized floor length dress created by designer Kerby Jean-Raymond.
"Yesterday I had the honor of stepping out of my element and walking in the @pyermoss FW18 show for #NYFW," she captioned. "Thank you so much for including me @kerbito the show was amazing, and the collections are even more fire."
She's effortlessly pretty, and we cant get enough. If you don't know her music, at least you can appreciate her fabness.
The Purple Unicorn got dressed up in a color ensemble to sit on the front row at Zadig & Voltaire's runway show held at Cedar Lake Studios.
After hitting up runway shows...
The songstress stepped out to celebrate her new album, ULTRAVIOLET, with her friends and her team at Omar's La Ranita, hosted by Samsung Mobile.
The "U Don't Know" singer kept it stylish in a floral Public School ensemble paired with Giuseppe Zanotti heels.
Back on the NYFW scene...
Front row baddie alert! Justine joined Serayah, Cardi B, Jasmine Sanders and Kehlani on the front row of Jeremy Scott's show. And, of course, she was rocking some of his threads.
Making her rounds during NYFW, the singer rocked this colorful Balmain mini. She revealed she has some exciting projects in collaboration with Samsung coming down the pipeline.
During a ladies' night out, she hit up Cipriani restaurant with Jasmine Sanders and a few other celeb friends during New York Fashion Week.
And for some early morning glam...

Tiffany Haddish just copped an A-list co-star in her new movie, plus LeBron James is bringing House Party back, but with a twist. Get it all inside…
The best of both worlds!
Tiffany Haddish just copped a new co-star in her new movie.
The Girls Trip breakout star will be cutting up with fellow comedienne Melissa McCarthy in the upcoming crime drama titled, The Kitchen. Lordt. These two together in a movie will be many things. Especially, since the movie is a crime drama and both Tiffany and Melissa mainly do comedy.
The film is an uncommon one for a major studio: a gritty drama directed by a female filmmaker, with three strong female leads in the anti-hero roles. The Kitchen is an Irish mafia story set in Hell’s Kitchen, New York in the 1970s. An FBI sweep catches mob leaders, and while they are under arrest and their criminal enterprise is jeopardized, the mob wives take over. They end up running the illicit business in more vicious fashion than their husbands ever did.
New Line Cinema and DC Entertainment are backing the film with the screenplay written by Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton) based on the 2014 comic book series by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle for DC’s Vertigo. Andrea will also make her directorial debut and Michael De Luca (Fifty Shades of Gray) will be producing.
Tiffany has a few high-profile films in the works. She’s working with Will Smith (for the third time) on The Temp and she’ll be starring opposite Kevin Hart in Night School.
Speaking of new movies...
Ayeeeee! Time to turn up!
Cleveland Cavaliers baller LeBron James and his SpringHill Entertainment production company (along with his business partner Maverick Carter) are gearing up to bring us a new House Party flick. But, it’s not exactly a reboot of Kid & Play's franchise, per se. So, basically, it's a remake.
“This is definitely not a reboot. It’s an entirely new look for a classic movie,” the NBA MVP told The Hollywood Reporter. “Everyone I grew up with loved House Party. To partner with this creative team to bring a new House Party to a new generation is unbelievable.”
He has a hell of team backing the film too. “Atlanta’s” Stephen Glover (Donald Glover’s brother) and Jamal Olori will pen the screenplay.
They are also working on creating a BOMB soundtrack.
“We’re trying out some ideas for musicians to be cast in and to be a part of the project,” Maverick Carter said.
He also talked about whether LeBron will make a cameo. “There’s no plan for it now, but he’s a fantastic actor, and if he wants a role, Stephen will find a great role to put him in,” Maverick added.
Y’all here for it? As long as somebody whips out the Kid & Play, no matter what they call it, we are.

It’s Valentine’s Day and we’ve got a list of couples we WISH would happen. See our pics and add your own inside…
Love is in the air.
Not between THIS list of potential couple, but we surely wish they would top playing around and make some moves. We have a few good reasons why too.
Our matchmaking skills are on point. (Fight us.) So, here's the list:
Black Panther stars Lupita Nyong’o and Michael B. Jordan have been jetting all over the world on the film’s promo trail. And they have been giving us the feels. The coupledom feels. Like, we want them to get together tomorrow feels.
They even have their own little inside jokes and bets. And let's face it, they're both attractive AF.
MBJ might just be trying to get back in the good graces of black women after his latest situationship, but....WDC WDC (We Don't Care). We could totally see these two getting wrapped up in a post-Black Panther romance.
Make it happen!
As an alternate situationship, we wouldn't mind seeing Michael "Bae" Jordan with "Insecure" star Issa Rae.
— Issa Rae (@IssaRae) February 11, 2018
They seemed to have hit it off at Issa's recent SIP event where they sat down to have a heart to heart...in front of an audience.
We think Girls Trip starlet Tiffany Haddish and Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman would make a cute couple. They sort of reminds of us of the straight laced ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos and his comedic wife, Ali Wentworth. The melanin version. She would definitely liven up his demeanor and he's that steady, successful (and fine) man every woman wants for herself.
As an alternate, we think Tiffany and NFL player Marshawn Lynch would be a hilarious couple. Imagine a conversation between the two. Teeeheee!
“Insecure” star Yvonne Orji and “Daily Show” host Trevor Noah would make a cute couple. Trevor MGHT have a girlfriend, but we know there's no ring yet. They’re both hella funny (she's a stand up comedian as well) and give off these wholesome vibes.
By the way, Yvonne just partnered up with Colgate Total for their “Totally Ready” campaign. So chick stays hustling, just like Trevor.
"I am so excited about this partnership with Colgate Total," shared Yvonne. "A healthy smile has always been important to me. My healthy smile makes me feel good. When I feel good, I feel totally ready for whatever comes my way. Last year was a really good year for me. I want to take that and make it bigger and better for 2018. So, not only do I need to be totally ready, I know that I must stay ready."
Here’s a twist.
We think rap icon Nas and “Love & Hip Hop: Miami” star/singer Amara La Negra should be a couple. The Afro-Latina artist gives us slight Kelis vibes, but with a fresh face. She's outspoken, talented and mad sexy. And seems to be ready to settle down. Maybe she can try to get him on a track to do the same.
If Nicki Minaj turns down Drake again when she finally returns to the spotlight, model/TV personality Tyra Banks and the OVO rapper would be cute. They had a fling (or whatever you want to call it) a while back.
"How To Get Away With Murder" stars Aja Naomi King and Jack Falahee (yes, we know he plays a gay character on the show) could possibly be a cute couple. They obviously spend a lot of time together based on their IG accounts and they both attended great schools with plenty of talent in the acting department. Hmmm...
WAKANDA is still taking over NYC with another Black Panther premiere. Peep the hot shots inside…
Marvel’s Black Panther is still taking over the Big Apple with a screening of the superhero film.
Celebs trekked it to the Museum of Modern Art to see the highly anticipated film of the year, host by The Cinema Society. The night’s festivities brought out several celebs all dressed up for the occasion.
Birthday girl Danai Gurira was a total showstopper on the carpet in a gold dress with dramatic ruching. We hear she celebrated her 40th birthday with a Coming To America themed bash with her Black Panther castmates.
She wasn't the only one serving up a bold look that fit the theme of the movie. "Power" star Naturi Naughton, actress Condola Rashad (daughter of actress Phylicia Rashad), Snoop Dogg's son Cordell Broadus, CNN's Van Jones (joined by CNN's Don Lemon), Get Out star Lil Rel, model icon Iman, and TV personality Sherri Shepherd were also decked out in African garb:
As expected, some of the cast was also in the mix, including Lupita Nyong'o, Chadwick Boseman, director Ryan Coogler and his wife Zinzi Evans, and Letitia Wright:
Letitia girl, what exactly is going on here?
"Power" star LaLa Anthony pulled up on the scene in all black everything.
Daddy-daughter date! Comedian Chris Rock brought his daughter Zahara Rock as his date for the movie. By the way, his Netflix comedy special "Chris Rock: Tamborine" will be available to stream TONIGHT at midnight. It's the first stand-up special from the award winning comedian in ten years.
"Power" star Omari Hardwick brought his wife Jennifer Pfautch as his date for the evening. We still have a good minute before "Power" returns. Ugh.
EGOT Whoopi Goldberg and "SNL" comedienne Leslie Jones were in the mix.
Loving that pantsuits Les!
Headwrap fab!Fashion mogul Tyra Banks, showing off in a custom see-through Stello dress, snapped it up with Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover girl Danielle Herrington. Tyra was the first African-American to cover the magazine and Danielle is the third.
A Wrinkle In Time star Gugu Mbatha-Raw made an appearance on the carpet.
Actor Kenan Thompson, who recently reunited with the "All That" cast on "Wild 'N Out," was all smiles on the carpet.
Singer Maxwell was being a total ladies man, even nabbing a kiss from actress Jill Hennessy.
Model Joan Smalls kept it simple in a black jumpsuit topped with a black blazer.
Rev. Al Sharpton had his girlfriend Aisha McShaw on his arm.
"Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts looked uber fab!
"CBS This Morning" host Gayle King made her way to the premiere.
Rapper Vic Mensa rocked an interesting look.
"Hamilton" star Renee Elise Goldsberry served up futuristic fab.
Former "E!" correspondent Alicia Quarles posed it up in a festive look.

Father-son duo LaVar and Lonzo Ball flexed their rap skills on “Lip Sync Battle,” but things didn’t go well for LaVar. See his performance, plus get details on 3LW songwriters losing a case against Taylor Swift inside…
LaVar Ball boasts a lot about being the best. But apparently, rapping isn’t his forte.
The helicopter dad will appear on “Lip Sync Battle” tonight to go head-to-head against his son/LA Lakers baller Lonzo Ball. We think LaVar skipped rehearsal or something because he totally butchers Nas’ “You Can Hate Me Now” track.
“If I was Nas, I’d be mad he put a performance like that on my song," Lonzo says about his dad's performance.
We know you’re wondering how does one mess up a LIP SYNC performance, but you’ll see:
What's funny is that LaVar chose to perform a song by Nas and his son Lonzo has "beef" with the rapper. The two have trolled each other in the past.
Meanwhile, the NBA baller will perform Migos' hit single "Bad & Boujee":
Check out their pre-show banter below:
Tune in to see their "Lip Sync Battle" episode tonight at 10pm EST on the Paramount Network.
In legal news...
3LW songwriters, Sean Hall and Nathan Butler, felt Taylor Swift jacked one of their songs, so they sued her.
The songwriters behind 3LW's 2001 hit "Playas Gon' Play" pulled the trigger on the lawsuit in September 2017 after making claims that Taylor’s “Shake It Off” infringes on their lyrics.
The girl group sang "Playas, they gonna play / And haters, they gonna hate,” while Swift declared "[T]he players gonna play, play, play, play, play and the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.” At the time, a rep for the superstar said the complaint was nothing more than a ridiculous money grab.
U.S. District Judge Michael Fitzgerald on Tuesday granted Swift's motion to dismiss the suit but is giving plaintiffs Sean Hall and Nathan Butler one shot to amend their complaint by Feb. 26.
There's no dispute over whether Hall and Butler owned their lyrics, or that Swift's team had access to the song. There's also no allegation of copying the underlying musical composition. So Fitzgerald's analysis centers on whether there is substantial similarity between protectable lyrics.
So, they took an L for now, but they could take it back to court at the end of the month. Good luck with that.

Piers Morgan is blowing the whistle on Omarosa’s conniving and vindictive ways while on “Celebrity Big Brother.” Find out what he said about her begging him for sex and more. Plus, hear what Gladys Knight has to say about those plastic surgery rumors inside…
When is she NOT doing the most?
Omarosa Manigault Newman was pulling out all the stunts to try and win “Celebrity Big Brother.” And now, evictee Piers Morgan is spilling the tea on what exactly she was up to in the house while trying to strategize a way to win.
According to the British journalist, the former White House aide tried to get him to have sex with her so they could make “sell the story” and form an alliance to win the show. He appeared on “The Talk” to detail what went down.
“Day one, she sidles up to me — and I'd never met this woman before — and says, ‘So Piers, I’m thinking that you and I could get into a showmance,'” he revealed.
“I went ‘You are completely deluded. This is not happening,’” he said he responded.
Once he curved her, she got mad and started calling him gay. Then, he said from then on out she was the “most abusive, homophobic, horrible person” he had ever met in his entire life. Are you surprised? We aren’t.
Peep the clip below:
Do you think Omarosa will win it all?
