H&M Model & Parents Forced To Move Due To Safety Concerns + Black Greek Judges Collaborate To Fight Prison Statistics

 photo boymodel.jpg

The young H&M model who's been all in the news and his parents have moved from their homes for safety reasons. In other news, a group of black Delta & AKA judges have joined forces to help combat the pipeline to prison statistics. Everything inside…

The H&M monkey fiasco has forced the young boy, his mother and father out of their home sadly.

The young black boy, named Liam Mango, was thrusted in the midst of controversy for the hoodie he wore in H&M’s campaign that read, “coolest monkey in the jungle.” Folks were up in arms, firing off social media posts bashing the company and all. Celebrities even backed out of partnerships with the retail giant.

Following the backlash, Liam’s mom hopped on social media, urging folks to “get over it” because the ad "wasn’t racist."

Now, Liam and his parents feel unsafe in their home in Stockholm, Sweden so they have reportedly moved out over “security concerns.”

Liam’s mom spoke with the BBC and said the protests that went down in South Africa also played a role in why they decided to leave their home. However, it’s unclear if there were any incidents that went down in their own hometown.

It's probably a good idea they lay low for a while until things die down, especially with the mother being so vocal about how the shirt isn't racist and folks are just making a big deal out of nothing.

Also, after H&M issued an apology for the incident, they're also making changes in the company.

They have reportedly hired a diversity leader "to drive [their] work forward," following an internal review.

We're confused as to why they need a diversity leader to tell them the "coolest monkey in the jungle" phrase on a black boy may not be the best move. Sounds like they have bigger fish to fry internally if that's the case.

In good news...

Four black female judges, who are members of Delta Sigma Theta and Alpha Kappa Alpha, have joined forces to fight the prison problem that plague young African-Americans.

The “school to prison pipeline” statistics are quite disturbing as they prove black children are funneled out of public schools straight to the criminal justice system via petty crime arrests that eventually lead ti them becoming a ward of the system. Well, these ladies have created a program to help with the staggering numbers.

The ladies -- Judge Shequitta Kelly, Judge Amber Givens-Davis, Judge Stephanie Mitchell and Judge Lisa Green -- have created “Pipeline to Possibilities,” a program that focuses on changing the pipeline to prison in the local school system around Dallas. Through the program, youth are educated on various aspects of the justice system and taught life skills, redirecting them from engaging in criminal behavior.

Nice! For more information on their initiative click here.

Mara Brock & Salim Akil’s ‘Love Is _’ Just Added 5 Series Regulars & We Can't Wait For This Show! + ‘Black Lightning’ Debuts With Solid Ratings

Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim Akil just added a few actors to star in their upcoming OWN show “Love Is _.” Meanwhile, they’re superhero series "Black Lightning’ was welcomed with suburb ratings. Everything inside…

Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim Akil’s “Love Is _” romantic dramedy is shaping up.

The OWN series just added 5 new series regulars to help tell the story about a power couple who’s working to navigate Black Hollywood. The new series is inspired their own relationship, so we expect this one to be extra good. Not that their other projects aren’t exceptional. Y’all know what we mean.

Idara Victor, Tyrone Brown, Kadeem Hardison, Lana Young and Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing will join previously announced series leads Michele Weaver, who plays Nuri, and Will Catlett, who plays Yasir.

The husband and wife power duo will serve as executive producers with Mara as showrunner and she’s writing the pilot.. Akil Productions will produce in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television. The passion project had originally been picked up by ABC, but since the script never made it to production, it was reworked for Oprah’s network.

Variety breaks down each new character’s role in the series:

Idara Victor has been cast in the role of Angela. A member of the same writing staff as Nuri, Angela doesn’t always agree with everything Nuri says, mainly because she is a disgruntled drama writer stuck in a comedy she doesn’t believe in. Victor has appeared on shows like “Law & Order,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Mad Men.” She was also a series regular on the TNT series “Rizzoli & Isles” and recurred on all four seasons of AMC’s “TURN: Washington’s Spies.”

Tyrone Brown has been cast in the role of Sean. Sean possesses great taste and has a lot of opinions, but he lacks follow-through. He was the first one to spot Nuri as a catch and uses his best friend, Yasir, as a wingman to meet her. A year later, when he and Yasir cross paths with Nuri again, Sean is in a relationship and has a child with Camille, giving Yasir the opportunity to pursue Nuri. Brown has appeared on shows such as “Bull,” “Chicago PD,” and “The Affair.” he is repped by Innovative Artists and MKSD Talent Management.

Kadeem Hardison has been cast in the role of Norman. The executive producer of “Marvin,” Norman is a tough boss who is hard to impress and even harder to amuse. As the play-cousin to the star of the show, he’s under a lot of pressure, and he takes his frustrations out on his room of writers, pressing them all to dig a lot deeper into themselves before they’re all fired and replaced. Hardison has appeared on shows such as “Between Brothers,” “House M.D.,” “Abby,” “Just For Kicks,” “Girlfriends,” and “Everybody Hates Chris.”

Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing has been cast in the role of Ruby. Ruby is Yasir’s on-and-off girlfriend; they came to L.A. to chase their dreams, but hers are idling and Yasir’s never got any traction. Worn out, she’s acerbic and moody and fed up that Yasir still does not have a job. She winds up gently set aside when Yasir pairs off (for life) with Nuri. Sing is a Dutch actress and played lead roles on the big screen in the Dutch horror thriller “Sneekweek” and the comedy “Alles Voor Elkaar.”

Lana Young has been cast in the role of Nuri in the year 2027. Nuri is first seen in 2027, in her 50s, relaxed, happy, and comfortable in her life and her 32-year marriage to Yasir. She has appeared in the recurring roles of Mrs. Douglas in “The Vampire Diaries,” Dr. Jacinta Butler in OWN’s “Greenleaf,” and Gloria Ruiz in “The Inspectors.”

Sounds interesting.

Trevor Jackson & Jason Mitchell Are About To Get ‘Superfly’ In Upcoming Remake + Pam Grier Is Taking Her Story To The Big Screen In New Biopic

 photo trevorjasonteaser.jpg

Can you dig it? We can! Trevor Jackson and Jason Mitchell have been tapped to star in the upcoming Superfly remake. In other big screen news, Pam Grier is currently working on her own biopic. Everything inside…

Groovy!

A remake of the classic 1972 hood classic Superfly is in the works and it’s starring two YBF actors who are currently killing it in Hollywood.

Trevor Jackson (“Grown-ish,” Burning Sands) and Jason Mitchell (“The Chi,” Straight Outta Compton) will be the lead stars in the upcoming Supferfly remake that will be helmed by famed music video director Director X.

Trevor will star as Youngblood Priest, a suave New York City drug dealer who wants to do one last drug deal before he gets out of the game. Jason will co-star as Eddie, Priest’s reluctant friend.

Lex Scott Davis (who played Toni Braxton in her LIFETIME biopic) will play Georgia, “Narcos” starlet Andrea Londo has been tapped to play Cynthia, “White Famous” star Jacob Ming-Trent will play Fat Freddy, and actor Omar Chapparo will star as Adalberto. It’s also reported rapper 21 Savage will join the Superfly remix in some capacity.

“When I went back and watched the original, I was struck by how relevant the themes are,” said Director X. “The pursuit of the American Dream is eternal – everyone’s always on the hustle, because you’ve got to be… and Superfly is about pulling off the ultimate hustle to get out of the game. Our goal is to make it modern – to make a movie where the style, the art direction, the camera movements are all part of what makes the movie Superfly. With this film, my goal is to honor the lineage of an iconic title that the community has loved for decades.”

He continued, “I want to honor it in a way that shows a new generation how black culture continues to be a catalyst for new trends in every area, from fashion to music. I’m also excited to be working with Future, both on the music and as a producer of the film – the original soundtrack is legendary, and that’s an inspiration for the artists that Future is working with to bring a singular modern musical vision to the film.”

Soundtracks are just as important as the movie in most cases, and the Superfly reboot has picked up a rapper who is hot in these music streets. Future has signed on to produce alongside Joel Silver. The screenplay will be written by Alex Tse.

Steven R. Shore, son of the original film’s producer Sig Shore, will serve as an executive producer alongside Matthew Hirsch, Hal Sadoff and Aaron Auch.

Are you here for it?

Speaking of movies...

 photo pamgrier.jpg

Pam Grier, a screen icon of the 70s, is gearing up to put her live on the big screen.

The Foxy Brown actress has tapped comedian Jay Pharoah to play her ex-boyfriend Richard Pryor in her biopic, tentatively titled Pam.

Pam will shed light on various romantic relationships she had (detailed in her memoir) with comedic icon Richard Pryor, NBA legend Kareem Adbul-Jabbar and actor/comedian Freddie Prinze.

Deadline reports:

Grier met Pharoah when they were recording voices for the video game Infinity Wars. “I watched him and heard his voice and closed my eyes and said, ‘It’s Richard,’” she recalled. Said Pharoah, the former Saturday Night Live star who just toplined the Showtime series White Famous, “The story is heartbreaking, raw, honest and beautiful, all rolled into one testimony.”

Like many Hollywood starlets, Pam also was a victim of sexual assault during her rise to the top. And even before she made it to Hollywood, she was raped as a child and while she was attending college.

As she first revealed in her book, Grier was raped at age 6 by two older boys, and again in college. It nearly happened a third time – she didn’t include that assault in the book because her publisher felt it was too much, she said – when “I fought off a 300-pound retired football player, a family friend who was supposed to come out to mentor me. I suffered scratches, abrasions, everything, but I beat the shit out out him with furniture and walked away from it.”

There is a disturbing tale in her book about a time she was invited to Sammy Davis Jr’s house where, in front of his wife Altovise, the singer became so aggressive in his attempt to bed Grier that she had to enlist Liza Minnelli and her husband Jack Haley Jr to drive her away from the estate while she hid in the back seat. But surprisingly, most of the pain caused by men took place far from Hollywood, and the heightened awareness probably kept her away from meetings scheduled with moguls at hotels, where numerous actresses allegedly fell prey to the Weinsteins of the world and subsequently were pressured to remain quiet.

You can read the rest of her interview with Deadline where she talks about her strained relationships, helping Richard with his drug addiction and more here.

No word yet when Pam will hit theaters, but we’ll keep you posted.

Cardi B's haters are about to be big mad!

The “Bodak Yellow” rapper, pictured above heading to The Nice Guy in West Hollywood last night, is about to add actress to her growing resume as she has inked her first movie deal.

There aren’t too many details about the movie or what type of role she’ll play. However, TMZ reports she’ll be hitting the production set in March. Sources tell the site that the “Bariter Cardi” rapper ended up having to turn down a few gigs that would have paid her between $100,000-$200,000. We assume this means the movie role is paying big bucks.

Like we said, Cardi is killing it right now and she’s continuing to make music history.

Chick just surpassed Beyonce (yes, BEYONCE) as the first woman to have FIVE Top 10 singles simultaneously on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart, according to Billboard. Her feature on Bruno Mars’ song "Finesse" helped her nab the honor. She’s the third act to achieve the big feat, following Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

Nice!

In other Cardi B News...

The "Bodak Yellow" rapper stars in a new TIDAL mini-documentary titled, “I’m here Muthaf*cka,” where she reflects on her glow up year.

Throughout the documentary, Cardi B discusses her journey to success, collaborating with Jeremy Scott and how TIDAL inspires her:

“You know that TIDAL is everywhere. Just know that a colored person owns it…somebody that comes from Brooklyn, the streets. I’m from the streets. If he can do it, that means I can do it one day.”

“I’m really excited about spaghetti straps,” Amber told her surgeon in the clip.

She said she hasn’t worn a spaghetti strap shirt since she was 10-years old due to her large breasts. Sheesh. But we feel you, girl.

Before the surgery, she also posted on her Instagram Stories how excited and nervous she was about the procedure.

The Slut Walk creator contemplated going under the knife over the summer, asking fans for advicebecause she was nervous about scarring. She said she wanted to downsize because her breasts had been causing her back pain and, of course, she shared she wanted to wear cute tops without having to wear a big bra to hold her lady parts up.

We haven’t heard anything about how she’s doing post-surgery, but she’ll likely chime in soon. Good luck with recovery Amber!

Bye, Bye Betsy!

Betsy is the name K. Michelle gave her booty when it was large and in charge. But, the two have since parted ways.

The R&B songstress went under the knife to have her butt implants taken out after revealing she was having complications due to her butt being so big on her small frame.

Before the procedure, she appeared on “The Real” detailing how her butt was causing her legs to hurt. She said she went to several doctors who wouldn’t even touch her behind.

K went under the knife on January 12th and she’s doing just fine. She gave her fans an update on her recovery recently, tweeting:

Hmm...we wonder if we'll see her butt reduction journey on television seeing that cameras were rolling.

She'll be back to the old Kimberly by February to kick off her upcoming tour.

Mo'Nique Calls For Netflix Boycott After They Offered Her Way Less Money Than Amy Schumer & Dave Chappelle

 photo MoNiqueMoNiqueJulianWalkerOutNYC8KJbLlHUJBll_zpsezchk150.jpg

Mo'Nique is pissed at Netflix's low-ball offer, and now she's calling for a boycott because of what she calls "gender bias" and "color bias."  Decide if you co-sign what she's got to say inside...

On the heels of everybody getting called out for pay disparity in Hollywood and beyond, Netflix is on deck to catch some heat.  That is, if you believe comedienne Mo'Nique has a valid case.

The Oscar winner took to her social media to blast the major streaming network about the unfair offer they approached her with for a comedy special.

Mo'Nique says Netflix met with her about filming a new special...for $500,000.  She was taken aback because Amy Schumer - who plenty of folks don't think is all that funny - banked $11M out the gate for her special.  She actually got a couple million more after re-negotiating based on what her male counterparts like Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock were getting.

Dave and Chris copped $20 million each for their deals.  Amy said she understands her resume and receipts aren't as string as Dave & Chris', so she wasn't necessarily asking for exactly what they received.  But she felt she did deserve more than $11M.

Mo says she raised the disparity issue just as Amy had, reminding Netflix of her Oscar win and LONG resume of stand up comedy.  She was allegedly told that her resumé doesn't matter.  The company remarked that Amy had just sold out Madison Square Garden and had a hit movie (Trainwreck).  Hence, her resumé.

Mo'Nique asked what is the difference between using Amy's resume as a reason to give her major mula, but not Mo'Nique's.

#BOYCOTT#NETFLIX FOR #COLORBIAS AND #GENDERBIAS. PLEASE STAND WITH ME. I LOVE US.

A post shared by Mo'nique (@therealmoworldwide) on

Sure, there's definitely a disparity here. But let's keep it 100. This industry is in the no-risk business.  It values popularity far more than legitimate talent. That value gets the benefit-of-the-doubt treatment - when it comes to how risky a person actually is - far more if you're a male or a white woman.

Netflix likely feels they just "know", or assume, Amy, Dave and Chris would bring in the necessary money to off-set their offer.  Unfortunately, they only feel comfortable with giving Mo $500K because that's all they "know" she'll bring in.

Did Mo'Nique play herself by not playing the industry game, continuing to do shows and staying relevant with the masses (much like Dave did after he walked away from a major Comedy Central offer)? Or is she totally right?

Diddy Wants More Kids With Cassie, Was Engaged For 4 Hours & Says 50 Cent ‘Loves Him’ + Brothel-Loving Lamar Odom Pulls Khloe Kardashian's Baller Ho-Fax

$

 photo cassiediddy.png

Diddy talks about wanting more kids with Cassie, a 4-hour engagement he was able to get out of and he responds to 50 Cent’s shade in a new interview. Get the highlights, plus find out what Lamar Odom said about his ex-wife Khloe Kardashian that pissed off her family inside…

Diddy wants more kids? He sure does and he wants his girlfriend Cassie to have them.

In a new interview with Power 105’s “The Breakfast Club,” the Hip Hop mogul, who (jokingly) likes to be called ‘Love’ now, opened up about wanting more kids. The 48-year-old is already a dad to six kids, but he would like to add a few more to his “tribe.”

“Without a doubt, I love children,” he said. “I could go to eight without a problem. Can’t stop, won’t stop. Whatever is supposed to happen in the future is going to happen, but that’s something that I want.”

That means his longtime girlfriend Cassie, 31, will need to push out two kids to satisfy his desire. Wouldn't be a shock if she went that route in a few years, TBH.

“I would only have it with my girl, of course,” he confirmed.

However, he’s not ready to be a granddad. He said he talked to his son Christian Combs and his girlfriend about how to prevent that from happening. Ha!

During his last interview with “The Breakfast Club,” the Sean Jean honcho mentioned his relationship with Cassie was a 70/30 type situation. He definitely received backlash from women. Cassie clearly wasn’t having that ish either.

“I tried it, the 70/30. I’m on the 90/10 now. That was a bad day. Something that shouldn’t have come out my mouth.”

Bloop.

Speaking of relationships, he revealed he was engaged before…for only 4 hours! He said one of his ex-girlfriends proposed to him while they were in Vegas. She had a ring and everything and he said yes. (Where they do that at?!)

So, how did he get out of it? The next day, he just acted as if it never happened. Eventually she brought it up again and he told her they should just wait awhile.

Diddy isn’t spilling the tea on who it was though.

“I can’t tell y’all which girlfriend but it definitely happened. I’m talking about in the past. This didn’t happen right now, you just assumed it was Cassie.”

Hmm…who do y’all think it is? We have our guess.........

Being a father of six, having three mothers of his children (Misa Hylton, Kimberly Porter and Sarah Chapman) and a serious girlfriend, it was rocky in the beginning. These days, everyone gets along great. He said he got everyone together for a meeting to hash out all of their issues and didn’t happen until this year. That would explain why everybody's been vacaying together lately.

“You have to take care of everybody. If everybody is happy and you taking care of them and you respecting them, you can have a meeting like I had. I had a ‘Can we all just get along?’ meeting. It’d be better for all of us.”

"That probably just happened this year, with everybody, with the whole squad. “You have to start to treat your family like a tribe if you have other mothers of your children. The separatism starts to wear on the family as a whole. We all in it together. So, we might as well figure out how to co-exist, and they get along lovely."

“Everything is good. They’re good people and Cassie is a great woman.”

So that’s how he makes it work.

Switching gears, Diddy also addressed those homophobic comments 50 Cent made about him when he last stopped by the show. Diddy admitted he offered to take 50 shopping because he felt he needed some clothes. He said he’s a nice guy and has no beef with Fif. He just wanted to take him to get some new clothes (low key shade).

“I don’t have no beef with Fif. He loves me. Y’all can’t see it? You know he loves me. I would never say nothing negative about him. That’s just not like me.”

Also, Diddy cleared up that rumor that he gave the young, black H&M model a $1 million modeling contract: “That wasn’t real. It ain’t that much modeling in the world. It didn’t happen,” he said.

Peep his full interview below where he revealed how he and Drake became cool again after their altercation, whether he paid Joe Budden $5 million to join Revolt and more.

In another interview...

 photo lamarcomments.jpg

Lamar Odom made some (valid) comments about his ex-wife Khloe Kardashian and has pissed off the Kardashian Klan. Again.

In a sneak peek of his appearance on BET’s “Mancave,” Lamar addressed his ex-wife’s dating life after they called it quits.

“I still got my shawty’s name still on me — I mean, her initials still on me,” he said about his tattoo of Khloé’s initials. “For no reason.”

“I understand when it’s over, it’s over. When she was with her second or third NBA ball player, I could see that.”

The m-f'ing SHADE.

Since breaking up with Lamar and before the divorce was finalized, the reality star, who’s currently pregnant with her first child, has been romantically linked to NBA baller James Harden, former NBA star Rick Fox (they just went on a date), MLB player Matt Kemp and her current boyfriend/NBA player Tristan Thompson. Not to mention, she was also in a relationship with rapper French Montana.

Well, Khloe’s sister Kim Kardashian West, who welcomed herthird child recently, had time and clapped back at Lamar for making it seem like Khloe had a ho-fax:

Damn. That was harsh considering he almost died from a drug overdose in a brothel.

Their beef is officially reignited.  Ja Rule just put his foot on the gas, and 50 Cent's neck, with the lashing he's currently handing out.  Deets inside...

It all started with this Tweet a couple hours ago:

Well, to be fair, it actually all started (again) when 50 Cent appeared on Big Boy's Neighborhood this week during a Den of Thieves press appearance.

When asked what he would do if he ran into Ja Rule, the G-Unit rapper mumbled said,"I'd put him to bed."

And, in 2018, after a decade-and-a-half beef, Ja wasted no time clapping back.

Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith and her mom Adrienne Banfield-Norris will be bringing melanin family vibes to a brand new talk show. Also, Gabrielle Union is about to fight crime on the upcoming “Bad Boys” TV spinoff. Deets inside…

 photo jadawillow.jpg

Well this is quite the interesting spin on a talk show.

Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith and her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris are teaming up for a brand new talk show. And it’s not going to be a traditional olne. The ladies will be streaming their show, “Red Table Talks,” on Facebook.  Smart.

 photo jadadrienne.jpg

According to Deadline, the 46-year-old actress, her daughter and mother will tackle “social and timely issues” while sharing their point-of-views as an inter-generational family. Love this.

The Girls Trip star will be executive producing the show alongside Ellen Rakieten and Miguel Melendez.

The Facebook talk show seems to have stemmed from Jada’s 2012 powerful “Red Table Talks” short film that featured conversations about “love, life, family and fame.”

Peep a clip of that below:

No word yet when the show will premiere, but we'll keep you posted.

In TV news...

“Being Mary Jane” is going off the air, but that doesn’t mean we’ll be seeing less of Gabrielle Union.

NBC just picked up a pilot that will feature the 45-year-old actress in an untitled Bad Boys spinoff TV series.  Chick STAYS working, doesn't she?

Deadline reports:

The untitled project centers on the Special Agent Syd Burnett character played by Union in 2003’s Bad Boys II. Last seen in Miami taking down a drug cartel, she is making a cross-country move from Miami to Los Angeles.

In the untitled drama, written by The Blacklist writers-producers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier, the free-spirited former DEA agent Burnett has a fresh start in her new job as an LAPD detective. She’s partnered with Nancy McKenna, a working mom who can’t help but look at Syd’s freedom with some grass-is-greener envy. These two have totally different lifestyles and approaches, but they both are at the top of their fields in this action-packed, character-driven procedural.

We’re so here for Gabby being fearless and fierce on tv every week.

The project is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Doug Belgrad, Primary Wave Entertainment and Sony Pictures TV. Gabby will also executive produce the series. Nice.

Congrats Gabby!

By the way, "Being Mary Jane" will end its run with a two-hour movie, which will serve as a series finale. It's expected to air some time this year.

Kim & Kanye Just Revealed The Name Of Baby West #3, And Um...

Newborn Baby West's name was just revealed, and the internets are having a FIELD DAY.  All the deets inside...

Just days after announcing her birth via surrogacy, Kanye & Kim KardashianWest have revealed her name.  Introducing: Chicago West!

Well, that's new.

Their oldest daughter North was named for the highest star in the universe and baby boy Saint was named for, well, it's self-explanatory.

It's unclear how The Wests decided on Chicago.  We're not sure if they just watched Poetic Justice and got inspired (Thanks Joe Torry!), or if they want to redefine the stereotypical negativity attached to Kanye's native city these days with a super cute, super innocent little baby carrying the same name.  We wouldn't be surprised if 'Ye wanted his baby to have the name of what he feels is the best city on earth.

What we can say is this may have been one of the blackest moves 'Ye has made in a while.  So, salute.

And for those of you who've been under a rock and never heard anyone refer to Chicago as "The Chi" (and never heard of the new Showtime series of the same name), leave it to Khloe K. to explain the pronunciation:

Mk.

Naturally, the internets are on one:

And there's this shade:

Oop.

Well, if folks can name their kids Savannah, Jackson, Paris, Dallas, India, Alaska, London and countires/contininets like Asia, China, Malaysia and America, so be it.

“Grown-ish” just got the greenlight early for season 2 and the cast was busy at work at the Freeform Summit when the announcement was made. Get the latest, plus see how Taraji P. Henson, Chrissy Teigen and more paid tribute to Michael Jackson inside…

YAS!

“Grown-ish,” the super cool “black-ish” spinoff, will be back with another season after debuting just a few weeks ago (January 3rd).

It’s not even a total surprise that the show was given the greenlight for season 2 as it was the biggest comedy series debut for Freeform in the last 5 years. Not only that, the show had the best overall debut for the network in the last 2 years. AND it received the largest digital views (4.5 million) in Freeform history. And honestly, it's just GOOD.  Woot!

So yes, we’ll be seeing more of pill-popping, boy-crazy, lesson-learning Zoey Johnson (played by Yara Shahidi) exploring what college life is all about.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sophomore season will be gifted with a total of 20 episodes, up from the 13 for the first-year run. Get those coins Yara!

By the way, she's supposed to be taking a gap year before she heads off to Harvard.  But with the success of the show, we wonder if she'll take more time off before she starts college in real life.

 photo FreeformSummitInside9PDuR5ufb-vl.jpg

Speaking of Yara, the 17-year-old, who celebrates a birthday next month, made her way to the inaugural Freeform Summit in Hollywood (pictured above and below). The conference featured panel discussions where topics like millennial dating and LGBTQ representation on screen were discussed.

Yara talked about how millennials are so multi-dimensional, stereotypes and the power of social media where people can tell their own stories.

"I was reading The Fire Next Time and the one thing that he says is, 'Do you want to be integrated into a burning house?,'" Yara asked. "And what this group represents is a group of people who are dedicated to setting out fire and building a new infrastructure. I'm just so excited for you guys' presence, for what we've done so far and what's to come."

 photo FreeformSummitArrivalsi6vsIVOYs9Nl.jpg

Yara's co-star and on-screen crush Trevor Jackson came out for the event. That outfit is extra snug but he's still a whole snack.

 photo FreeformSummitArrivalsNeNdt-xZf6El.jpg

"New Edition Story" star Keith Powers, who's currently dating singer/"STAR" actress Ryan Destiny, made his way to event as he stars as Jason in the network's "Famous In Love" series.  We love that one too.

 photo FreeformSummitInsideBQuekvA-Z4cl.jpg

Hey ladies! Singing sisters and Yara's co-stars Chloe x Halle popped up at the event as they were tapped to hit the stage for a performance during the summit.

As expected, "black-ish" and 'Grown-ish" creator Kenya Barris sat on a panel.

Elaine Welteroth, who just parted ways with Teen VOGUE as the Editor-in-Chief, was also in the mix.

Bust a move Taraji!

Taraji P. Henson, whose new movie Proud Mary is in theaters, returned to “Lip Sync Battle” for a special celebration to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson to kick off its fourth season. The special broadcast, "Lip Sync Battle Live: A Michael Jackson Celebration," aired live from Hollywood’s Dolby Theater.

The “Empire” star flexed her dance and lip syncing moves to MJ’s classic hit “Beat It,” trying her hardest to beat “Orange Is The New Black” star Laverne Cox,"Pitch Perfect" star Hailee Steinfield and Gone Girl actor Neil Patrick Harris.

Hailee must had the moves because she took home the win after performing Michael Jackson's, "The Way You Make Me Feel."

Meanwhile, color commentator Chrissy Teigen didn't miss a beat as she danced it up with her pregnant belly.

Tracee Ellis Ross May Be Saying #TIMESUP To ‘black-ish’ Since She’s Paid Significantly LESS Than Co-Star Anthony Anderson

$

 photo traceeblackish.jpg

Tracee Ellis Ross is taking a stand to help bridge the gender pay disparity gap. Reportedly. Get the deets on the star possibly backing away from the show and more inside…

“black-ish” star Anthony Anderson is reportedly getting paid way more money than Tracee Ellis Ross. No surprise there. It’s a known fact men make more money than women in this country even when she’s more qualified. Hollywood or not.

With the #TIMESUP movement making waves, shedding light on sexual harassment and gender pay disparity, the 45-year-old actress is ringing her own alarm.

The former “Girlfriends” star has reportedly threatened to cut back her appearance on “black-ish” after learning she’s getting paid significantly less than her co-star Anthony Anderson.

However, it’s noted that Anthony also executive produces the show as well, which could account for the uneven salaries. But her threatening to cut back appearing in episodes makes us wonder how big is this gap? Should Anthony be paid more since he’s also serves as executive producer? Possibly. But, Tracee feels it shouldn’t be a large difference being that her role is just as important as his.

As of 2014, Anthony's salary was a reported $100K an episode while Tracee's was a reported $80K an episode.  That's likey changed by now, and the disparity may be greater based on the recent discussion Tracee had.  It’s unclear exactly how much either of the stars make at this time.

What’s more is that Tracee has won a Golden Globe for Best Actress In A Comedy Or Musical TV Series last year. She made history too, becoming the first black woman to do so in 35 years. She has also been nominated twice for an EMMY award.

As for her co-star, Anthony has been nominated for several Golden Globes and EMMYs, but has not nabbed a win when it comes to those major awards…yet.

Tracee reportedly said she may opt to appear in far less episodes if her pay doesn't increase.  That will free up her time to appear on another show and get extra compensation from there.

THR reports:

With negotiations for the fifth season ongoing, sources say Ellis Ross feels that if she isn't brought up to Anderson's level, she may opt to appear in fewer episodes to make up the disparity by guesting on another show. The tactic has split opinions within Time's Up, with some worried that it's more a retreat than a forward-looking solution (fitting in extra work isn't always feasible, and often an actress wouldn't earn as much guesting as she would as a network star). A network source says a new deal will significantly increase her compensation and cautioned that Anderson and Ellis Ross' roles aren't equal given that he has been attached to Black-ish from the start and is an executive producer. Still, until a few weeks ago, this type of candid conversation would never have taken place outside an actress' agency.

It will be interesting to see how it all ends up playing out. And we’ll know for sure once season 5 of “black-ish” rolls around.

EXCLUSIVE DETAILS: Here's Lifetime's Casting Requirements To Play Meghan Markle & Her Family In Upcoming 'Harry & Meghan' Movie

 photo Kick1_zpsp5gvkuhv.jpg

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are making their most recent Royal Duties look super fab, and we're hoping their new TV movie that's on the way is just as good.  We've got the exclusive details inside on how Lifetime is casting the first black British Dutchess-to-be and her entire family.

Ugh, they're so freakin' cute.  Prince Harry and fiancee Meghan Markle arrived in Cardiff earlier this week to celebrate the people, culture and heritage of Wales. They toured the historic castle and were treated to readings in Welsh, singing and dancing. And, of course, Meghan was in full on black Princess mode.

 photo Kick2_zpseoksklr4.jpg photo Kick5_zpsi8anf77r.jpg photo Kick3_zpsg0cxc6ns.jpg

Clearly she's already showing she's worthy of the People's Princess title, just like Harry's late mother Princess Diana.

The way they started their courtship is something everybody's been thirsty to find out, so Lifetime is hopping on the opportunity super early.

The network sent out a casting call for an upcoming tv movie When Harry Met Meghan that they describe as "the story of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's relationship & engagement." To play the Dutchess-to-be, they're looking for a 28 to 35 years old, "mixed ethnicity female" who "must bear a strong resemblance to Meghan." 25 to 35 years old, British caucasian male. If you can speak flawlessly in a British accent, they're also here for that.  Lifetime doesn't have the best track record for getting folks who can nail an accent, but we'll see.

In addition to casting Princess Kate & Prince William, the Queen and the whole Royal Family and close friends of the fam, Meghan's whole family may not be incorporated the same way.

The casting call only lists her mother, Doria. The role will be played by an African-American woman in her 50s. She's described as a mother who "has seen it all, and has struggled through adversity. Proud and protective towards her beloved daughter.) No word on if her talkative siblings or father will be cast.

The movie starts shooting next month in Vancouver.

Ciara Encouraged Women To #LevelUp To Get A Husband, And The Internet Is Basically Brawling About It

 photo DUBIn_WU0AAOH6l_zpsfpop9ubt.jpg

Ciara was doing a little self-reflection while on vacay with her man and the fam when she decided to share something about relationships.  And it's gotten her plenty of praise, and some major criticism.  Get it all inside...

If you've ever wondered how Ciara went from a super messy engagement to becoming Mrs. Wilson, look no further than her realization that she needed self love and God's love. Before she explained what she meant, her co-sign of Pastor John Gray's sermon to a group of single women rubbed plenty of folks the wrong way:

Some people felt the pastor's words about having a "girlfriend spirit" versus a "wife spirit" and Ci's co-sign placed blame solely on women, instead of pointing out men don't always step up to the plate.  In another clip that she didn't share, the pastor did address those men as well.  As many women have said though, that rhetoric isn't shared as much as berating single women for seemingly doing everything wrong.  Even when they are doing everything "right".

It's also important to note that not all single women desire marriage, so the pastor's message may have come off a bit judgmental and over-generalizing to some.

Nobody should settle for less, which seemed to be the gist of Ciara's message.  Lord knows we applaud her for that epic upgrade - she wanted marriage and luckily found a man who actually showed he was serious about wanting the same.  But framing the "don't settle" message can be a tricky one, as Ciara has learned.

Folks - both married and not - took to social media on both sides:

 photo IMG_3993_zpsdeyknmo2.png photo IMG_3992_zpskabypdle.png photo IMG_3980_zps4dh15g2r.png

This whole thread is worth the read:

Others interpreted her co-sign differently:

photo IMG_3982_zps4dop7h1a.png photo IMG_3990_zpsrobbi4mq.png We think this about sums it up: photo IMG_4008_zps52iinmi3.png

There are plenty of women who believe they've chosen wisely because men can often present themselves as one thing but turn out to be another.  Ciara admit, though, that she chose incorrectly in the past because she wasn't looking for the right thing.

After the backlash led her to become a trending topic today, the "Promise" singer wrote a follow up message to clear the air:

So there you have it.

By the way:

Future need not even try it if he was trying to throw subtle shade.

WHOA! Comedian Steve Brown Got Attacked On Stage By A 'Fan' And It Was All Caught On Video

Comedian Steve Brown just got attacked with a mic stand and a whole stool on stage during his set Sunday night. And the super crazy incident was all caught on video.  Deets inside...

Stand-up comic and former "Comicview" writer Steve Brown was on his last night of a multi-night set at The Comedy House in South Carolina Sunday night when all hell broke loose.

We hear the man who attacked him was sitting in the front row mean mugging the whole time before he hopped on stage.  Steve apparently asked him what was wrong, then this happened:

Sheesh!

Not sure where security was, but two men from the audience tried to step in at some point.

Steve took to social media to give an update minutes later:

Comedian Loni Love asked what everybody was wondering:

Just a mess. Glad he's OK after all of this though.

The fight against Netflix ain't over for Mo'nique!  She's coming at them again with new ammunition, thanks to new info about what the streaming service offered to other comedians.  Get it all inside.

Just a day or so after she called for a boycott against Netflix over what she views as a pay disparity based on her being a black woman, comedian Mo'Nique wants answers!

The Oscar winner previously revealed that the top streaming network offered her half a million dollars to do a comedy special for their network.  She called the offer insulting based on the several million that Amy Shumer, Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock received. She chocked it up to the network de-valuing black women and not respecting her relevancy.  Well, what she deems is relevancy.

After Mo's blasting, comedian Wanda Sykes tok to Twitter to reveal something pretty shocking: Netflix offered her less than half of what Mo'Nique was offered.  So she chucked deuces to their < $250K offer and took her talents to EPIX:

Mo is pissed. So she's demanding answers:

"Low Ball" OFFERS TO WANDA SYKES & MO'NIQUE FROM NETFLIX. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. Luv y'all.

Folks also started questioning what DeRay Davis, who just nabbed his first Netflix special How To Act Black this past November, copped from Netflix. Some reports allege he commented on social media saying $5M.  But, ya know....

PGA AWARDS: Winner Jordan Peele Believes ‘We’re In The Sunken Place,’ Ava DuVernay Delivers Speech Of Hope + Kerry, MJB & More Spice Up The Carpet

Winners Jordan Peele and Ava DuVernay dropped some gems during their acceptance speeches at the PGA Awards over the weekend. Meanwhile, Kerry Washington, Mary J. Blige, Tracee Ellis Ross and others lit up the red carpet. Get it all inside…

The 29th Annual Producers Guild Awards were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel to honor the best producers in film and television. And two of our fave producers nabbed awards while offering up some words of wisdom during their acceptance speeches. We didn’t think they would offer any less being that they’re two of the hottest producers in Hollywood right now.

Filmmaker Jordan Peele took the podium to accept the Stanley Kramer Award for his horror film, Get Out. The Stanley Kramer Award goes to “a production, producer or other individuals whose achievement or contribution illuminates and raises public awareness of important social issues.” And Get Out certainly did that.

Jordan, who wrote, produced and directed the film, used his acceptance speech to address those same issues he brought to life in his film, taking on Trump and how we’re still in a “sunken place.”

“When I set out to do this movie, I had to ask myself, what really scares me? I know what you’re thinking, but it’s not white people,” he said. “It’s silence. Get Out is my protest against that. … That’s how I came up with the idea for the sunken place… the sunken place is the system that silences the voice of women, minorities, of other people. It’s the system … it’s where we are relegated to when the screams of police brutality go ignored. The sunken place.. for the dignity and disrespect for Haiti….”

“The sunken place is the President who calls athletes sons of b*tches for expressing their beliefs on the field, and the homeland of our most beautiful immigrants sh*tholes. Every day there was proof that we are in the sunken place.”

And we couldn’t agree more.

Get Out was nominated for two PGA Awards (the other was for Best Theatrical Motion Picture), which is only creating even more Oscar buzz for the 38-year-old filmmaker.

Fab directress-producer Ava DuVernay was awarded the Visionary Award for the work she has put out to help raise awareness on important social issues. The award recognizes film, TV or new media producers for their unique or uplifting contributions to our culture through inspiring storytelling or performance. Her Oscar nominated documentary 13th got critical acclaim and she also won two EMMY awards for it.

The “Queen Sugar” executive producer used her acceptance speech to talk about inclusion, social awareness and she also showed love to the late Alliosn Shearmur.

“I was excited to come here today because we’re gathering on another historic day of the women’s march. It’s an interesting day because we had the women’s march in the midst of a government shutdown,” she said. “We have moments where people like me are at an intersection of Black Lives Matter and Me Too and Time’s Up. In short, we’re in the midst of times that will be long remembered, and I can’t help but ask the question of how will we be remembered in these times.”

“I just want to take a second to say you don’t do it because it’s the right thing to do….to pivot from prejudice,” she continued. “It’s not a trend, it’s a reality — a reality that our industry has betrayed in so many ways over the decades. So not to think of diversity as a good thing to do, think of it as an absolute must, something that must be done.”

It really does. We've been protesting for inclusion and diversity and yet we're still not anywhere we should be.

She never disappoints.

The "black-ish" star recently spoke out about the rumor that she was threatening to lessen her time on "black-ish" if they didn't pay her more. While she said she was renegotiating her contract for season 5, the rumor about her lessening her time on "black-ish" was a lie.
