POLITICAL FAB: April Ryan Asks Trump To His Face, ‘Are You Racist?’ + Obama’s Library Gets A Lit Makeover + Senators Kamala Harris & Cory Booker Make History

 photo aprilobamateaser.jpg

In today’s YBF politics round up, April Ryan straight up asked Trump if he’s racist, former President Barack Obama’s library is getting a makeover, and Senators Kamala Harris& Cory Booker are making history. Everything inside…

 photo aprilr.jpg

One thing is clear, April Ryan is NOT afraid of saying or asking exactly what we’re all thinking. And she’s out here doing the dirty work. Literally.

As Trump signed a proclamation to honor Martin Luther King Day with a handful of blacks standing behind him, April Ryan – a White House correspondent – straight up shouted to No. 45, “Are you racist?”

“Mr. President, are you a racist?” the CNN analyst asked. “Mr. President, will you respond to these serious questions about your statement, sir?”

As expected, Trump ignored her questions. But, we are SO here for April Ryan using her platform to ask the questions we all want to ask.

Check it:

The inquiry stems from Trump reportedly making comments about immigrants from “sh*thole countries,” and then specifically referring to African and Caribbean countries. Of course, since he’s getting so much backlash from the alleged comments, he hopped on Twitter to deny he said those exact words, despite several reports from Congress members who were in the room and heard what he said.

He reportedly also asked why we couldn't have immigrants from places like extra lily-white Norway instead.

How embarrassing.

We definitely need more "April Ryans" in the White House to drag him when need be.  Because we all know he isn't changing anytime soon, and his lame party members will continue to jump through Olympic-style hoops to justify his foolery.

After serving as president, every former leader of the free world receives a library/center in their honor. President Barack Obama is currently working on the Obama Presidential Center that will be built in Jackson Park in his hometown of Chicago.  And it's gonna be LIT!

As expected with anything Obama does, folks are mad about something. Nothing new here. Over the past year, President Obama and his wife/First Lady Michelle Obama have been working with a team “to dream up a campus for active citizenship on Chicago’s south side.”

 photo obamalibrary.jpg

The campus, which will cost $500 million, will include three buildings, the museum tower, a forum building (containing an auditorium and a restaurant), and a library building that could possibly house a branch of the Chicago Public Library.

There were complaints that the original design (released in May) would take away the serene landscape of the historic park and that the design was massive and opaque. There were also concerns about the center’s parking garage being above ground and across the street from the center.

So, the developers have given it a makeover to help address some of those concerns. According to the Chicago Tribune, the revised high-rise will now be taller, thinner and more transparent than the original version. They also scrapped the above ground parking garage and are now putting it underground. We hear there may also be plenty of recreational space for the public to enjoy.

In a new video released by the Obama Foundation, POTUS said the museum tower represents “ascension, hope and what ordinary people have the power to do together.”

"We want it to be a gathering place, somewhere for all kinds of people to come together and learn. This center is for the leaders of tomorrow, who are ready to step up and create the world as it should be. We want this place to inspire them, to lift them up and to give them the tools they need to succeed," Obama said about the campus.

Check it:

Now, the Obama Foundation is waiting for approval from the Chicago Plan Commission.  They're hoping to have it approved by the spring, so it can break ground by the end of the year and be opened in 2021.

On television....

President Obama sits down with David Letterman for a new episode of his Netflix series, "My Next Guest." During the chat, POTUS gives some advice the dancing dads out there. You can see the full interview where he talks about life after the presidency, how his father being absent from his life made him a better father, how the SELMA march is what made him president and more. It's currently being streamed on Netflix.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) have made history!

They are joining the Senate Judiciary Committee, becoming the 2nd & 3rd African-Americans to ever serve on the Judiciary Committee in its 200+ year history. Woot!

The Huffington Post reports:

The dual appointment, announced on Tuesday, came as somewhat of a surprise. Democrats needed to fill two spots on the committee, following the resignation of Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and the victory of Doug Jones in Alabama’s special Senate election last month.

The Congressional Black Caucus had been pushing Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to appoint one of its members, and Harris, former attorney general of California, had been expected to take one of the seats, according to The Associated Press. In the end, however, Schumer chose both African-American Democratic senators for the panel.

Black Excellence at its finest.

I am very excited to announce that my friend & colleague @KamalaHarris and I will be joining the Senate Judiciary Committee. We will be the 2nd & 3rd African-Americans to ever serve on the Judiciary Committee in its 200+ year history.⠀ ⠀ As a new member of the Senate Judiciary Committee – I will further advance my mission to stand up to the awful actions of Jeff Sessions and President Trump.⠀ ⠀ I will continue my determined efforts for broad scale criminal justice reform. ⠀ ⠀ We can not be driven backwards on issues of justice and fairness. I believe we as a nation are called to make real our collective pledge: to be a nation of liberty and justice for all. ⠀ ⠀ In the words of Martin Luther King Jr. “The arc of the moral universe is long and it bends toward justice.”⠀ ⠀ Well I believe we all have an obligation to be arc benders. ⠀ ⠀ I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve. ⠀ ⠀ So stay tuned – I hope my service on the Senate Judiciary Committee will make you proud.

Can Somebody Come Get Meghan Markle’s Salty Family? They’re About To Ruin It For Us!

Meghan Markle’s sister Samantha Grant is doing the most and seemingly trying to ruin everything. Find out what the salty sister said inside….

Meghan Markle is about to embark on one of the greatest days of her life when she treks down the aisle in St George's Chapel to tie the knot with Prince Harry. But, her family is trying to throw some salt in the game.

While we all get our dresses and facinators together to watch as a unit, Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Grant is using her sister’s newfound fame to her advantage. She’s gearing up to release a tell-all book/memoir, reportedly titled “The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister,” where she will be spilling family secrets. She also just released some never-seen-before pictures of Meghan as a child.

 photo megsis2.jpg

In a recent interview with InTouch magazine, Meghan’s 51-year-old estranged sister bashed her for wearing a $75,000 dress in her engagement announcement photos when her father needs financial help.

“If you can spend $75,000 on a dress, you can spend $75,000 on your dad,” Samantha told the site.

Hmm…jealous much? And who's to say she truly knows Meghan's relationship between her and her own father.

Samantha also blamed Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland (who was married to her father Thomas Markle), for being “controlling” and said she’s the reason she and Meghan haven’t spoken for years.

“In my mind Doria wanted to run around and seal off all the hatches. She became very possessive and controlling,” Samantha said.

While she seems to be salty about the royal wedding, she did give her sister some props, detailing attributes that would make her a good royal.

“She was extremely well-behaved and respectful. If she wanted something, she’d say it in a forthcoming, diplomatic way. She was well mannered, tidy and disciplined.”

 photo megsis3.jpg

In another interview with The Mirror, Samantha sort of backtracked her comments, asking her sister for forgiveness for the comments she has made about her recently.

"The last time we spoke – when I heard her voice – was 2014, almost 2015,” she said. “I can only say to Meg, '’Forgive me.’”

It’s still unclear if Samantha will be invited (we're leaning toward an emphatic 'Nah') to the royal wedding that’s set to go down May 19th.

“I'd be lying to say that I wouldn't be hurt if I didn't get an invite but that's really up to her,” Samantha said.

However, it has been reported that Megan’s dad Thomas Markle, a 73-year-old retired lighting director, WILL walk her down the aisle and will give her away to Prince Harry.

Keke Palmer, Zoe Kravitz, Alicia Keys and Ava Dash were busy all week. See what the YBF ladies were up to inside…

 photo Whyte2.jpg

Keke Palmer is ready to BOSS up for 2018.

The 24-year-old singer/actress, seen above leaving “The View” in NYC after her recent guest co-hosting gig, has some new music and some exciting news about the next step in her musical career. She just released a new single titled “Bossy,” a cut from her upcoming album. The new music follows the release of her music video “PREGAME,” which she released during the holidays.

“’Bossy’ in so many ways is a musical expression of the state of mind I've developed through my artistic growth,” Keke explained about the track via press release.

 photo WHYTE8.jpg

Not only is she gearing up to drop new music, she has also launched her own music label. Woot! The new imprint will cater to young artists who are looking to be more hands on with their careers.

"Right now I'm in a super empowering place musically. After working so long with different record companies, I've decided to do things independently and create my own label. Not just for myself, but hopefully for other young artists that are looking to feel change of their own musical careers while having and receiving the support/nurturing environment they need to grow.”

Nice.

Take a listen to Keke's newest single "Bossy" below:

Congrats Keekz!

Another YBF starlet making moves...

After celebrating a few Golden Globe wins with her “Big Little Lies” cast, Zoe Kravitz is getting out of L.A. making her way to the Big Apple.

The actress is out here looking like a bag lady as she toted several bags and a bottle of Wild Tonic Kombucha in her arms while making her way through LAX. We wonder if she guzzled it before taking off.

 photo HORF1.jpg

The Divergent actress has found herself in the headlines attached to rapper Drakeonce again. Apparently, they got a little cozy during a Golden Globe afterparty, sparking dating rumors again. You’ll recall, they had a “thing” that carried on between 2013-2014. They never confirmed an actual relationship and has always expressed that they are "just friends."

We all know Alicia Keys and her hubby Swizz Beatz are major art lovers. So, it came as no surprise to see the married couple pop up at the Gordon Parks: I AM YOU opening reception, presented by the Gordon Parks Foundation, at the Jack Shanmain Gallery.

Both Alicia and Swizz have longtime partnerships with the foundation where they’ve both been honored in the past.

Ava Dash’s mother/designer, Rachel Roy, has passed down the fashion bug to her eldest daughter. And she’s soaking it all in.

The gorgeous DT model, who also calls Dame Dash dad, stepped out to attend the Whyte Studio SS18 Collection Dinner held at Wolf Restaurant in LA.

While there, she nabbed a photo-op with designer Bianca Whyte. Looks like we may see Ava hitting a White Studio runway sooner rather than later.

Kanye West reuniting with his former manager Irving Azoff could possibly mean something big is about to happen. Find out what these Internet streets are saying, plus see flicks of Ye and his dad at the African American History museum inside….

It was date night for the Wests!

 photo BGUS_1108740_003.jpg

Kanye and Kim Kardashian West left the kiddies behind for a fun night out with friends this weekend. The couple hit up celeb hotspot Craig’s restaurant to celebrate Irving Azoff’s daughter Allison Statter’s birthday.

 photo BGUS_1108772_039.jpg

 photo spl1645217_006.jpg

Yeezy’s reunion with Irving, his former manager, has folks raising eyebrows of what could come from the reunion.

A little backstory: Irving used to manage the PABLO rapper up until they parted ways in 2012.  Since then, Irving has been dabbling in other music ventures. According to The Blast, Irving’s music rights management company, Global Music Rights, recently inked a major licensing deal with social media giant Facebook. Its also reported Irving is an advocate of artists being rightfully paid for their offerings.

As you know, Yeezy parted ways with Jay Z’s TIDAL streaming service over a money dispute. And he wants a new music streaming platform for his music.

It’s unclear if any business was handled during this recent reunion, but it looks like a new partnership could possibly be forming in the future between these two. It just makes sense. And Ye looked happy (above with Irving's wife Shelli Azoff) about it all.

Kanye West took time out of his busy schedule to be a normal citizen for a few. The YEEZUS rapper linked up with his father Ray West to pay a visit to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.

It’s reported the father-son duo was taken on a guided tour of the museum. And of course, a few fans were able to grab some video footage of his experience. Ye looked really into it. Check it below:

Seal Explains Oprah ‘Attack,’ POPS OFF On Stacey Dash & FOX News + Thomas Q. Jones Is Fine & WOKE AF

 photo sealoprah.jpg

Singer Seal is speaking up about his Oprah shade and why Stacey Dash (and FOX News) needs to keep her name out of his mouth. Meanwhile, hottie Thomas Q. Jones had to check Bigot Barbie Tomi Lahren for her culture vulture ways. Everything inside…

The Internet went into overdrive after singer Seal came at Oprah Winfrey over her friendship with fallen Hollywood exec Harvey Weinstein. He posted up a meme on his Instagram that showed the media mogul kissing Harvey with a shady caption. Catch up HERE if you missed.

Now, he’s speaking out to clarify what he meant by the post.

In a video posted to his Facebook account, the British singer said his post was in no way an attack on Lady O. He said she just happened to be collateral damage. He said it was an observation of the toxic nature of Hollywood.

“Let me start by saying that I have an enormous amount of respect for everything that Oprah has achieved and contributed in her life,” he started off saying in the video.“What I reposted was not an attack on Oprah at all. She just happened to be the person photographed with the pig [Harvey Weinstein] in the picture.”

“What I reposted was commentary on the hypocritical and double-standard nature and behavior of Hollywood,” he continued. “So Fox News, back off.”

Then, he came for Stacey Dash. And he let her have it.

“Stacey Dash, keep my name out of your mouth. Do not retweet, requote, anything I have said in order to reinforce your self hating agenda," he continued. “You live in the sunken place."

Bloop! No lies were told there.

The "Kiss From a Rose" singer also talked about the #MeToo movement and applauded the women (and men) who stepped forward and told their stories.

Thoughts?

Meanwhile...

So @tomilahren let me get this straight.... You say unarmed black men deserve to be killed by the police if they have a criminal record, that countries with black and brown people are "Shithole Countries" and if they weren't "Shithole Countries" those same black and brown people would be living there and not trying to come here. But then you go and PUT YOURSELF ON VIDEO in a Target parking lot in Texas (Not South Dakota where you were born but MOVED from because it must be a "Shithole State" state with no opportunities) bobbing your wax dummy lookin ass head to a brown person's song filled with lyrical content and racial slurs that you passionately condemn on your wack ass webseries that you probably did God knows what for??? You are the epitome of white privelege and a culture vulture extraordinaire and if any black or brown person (especially a black or brown man) cosigns this inbred or "invites her to the cookout" because she's listening to 21 Savage you should be slapped violently repeatedly!

A post shared by Thomas Q. Jones (@thomasjonesrb) on

Not only is Thomas Q. Jones fine AF…he’s woke too. And he’s not afraid to use his platform to call out those who need to be checked.

The former NFL star-turned-actor had time to drag Bigot Barbie Tomi Lahren for her culture vulture ways. Bigot Barbie posted up a video listening to 21 Savage and that sent Thomas over the edge.

“You are the epitome of white privilege and a culture vulture extraordinaire and if any black or brown person (especially a black or brown man) cosigns this inbred or ‘invites her to the cookout’ because she's listening to 21 Savage you should be slapped violently repeatedly!,” he wrote in the caption.

Sheesh! He had time and we are here for it. He didn’t stop there:

SHEESH! Freedom Fighters TRASH H&M Stores In South Africa Over ‘Racist’ Hoodie, So The Country Closes All Stores After Model Boy’s Mom Says ‘Get Over It’ + G-Eazy Walks Away From H&M

 photo hmp1.jpg

We’ve got all the latest updates in this H&M racist hoodie fiasco. Get it all inside…

Tensions boiled over in H&M stores in South Africa over the weekend as people organized to protest against the H&M’s racist “coolest monkey in the jungle” hoodie ad.

Economic Freedom Fighters -- a radical and militant socialist political party started by expelled former African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) President Julius Malema – rolled up in several H&M outlets in and around Johannesburg to trash them in protest against the racist kid’s hoodie.

 photo hmp2.jpg

In pictures and videos floating around online, you can see protesters totally trashing the store, kicking down displays and yanking clothes off of the racks.

Check it:

Doesn't look like they're accepting H&M's apology.

Floyd Shivambu from EFF spoke about the protests tweeting:

The EFF also made it clear that they did not steal or loot any of H&M's merchandise:

While the EFF is wrecking havoc over the ad, the model's mom doesn't think it was racist at all:

 photo modelmom.jpg

The young model’s mom - who lives in Sweden - has gone on social media to respond to all the backlash. She doesn’t feel like the ad was racist and she wants people to “stop crying wolf” and to “get over it.” Peep her responses above.

f course, people came for her neck over her Euro-African mindset about the situation.  So she made her social media pages private.

By the way, there was a story going around that Diddy offered the young boy a $1 million Sean Jean modeling contract. However, the "report" originated from what seems to be a satire site. And it barely held water to begin with.  Thank us later.

Also...

Rapper G-Eazy is following behind The Weeknd and has cut ties with the clothing giant. He first put up a Twitter post announcing he's detaching his name from the brand:

Then, he stopped by Power 105's "The Breakfast Club" to fully explain why he decided to end his partnership with the brand.

“I was excited about H&M to put clothes all around the world and do something that I liked and was cool with, and then I saw that happened, and it was like I’m not cool with it." He said felt the image was disturbing and "so racially and culturally insensitive."

Peep his interview above.

Now's a greater time than any to buy black.

TheYBF.com caught up with the “Growing Up Hip Hop: ATL” cast to see what’s in store for season 2 of their reality series. Find out what they told us about their DM struggle, dealing with fans and Zonnique’s dream collaboration inside…

Life for the “Growing Up Hip Hop: ATL” cast has been a roller coaster ride for the cast to say the least, and they’re all ready for round 2 of the reality madness.

The entire cast -- Zonnique Pullins, Reginae Carter, Bow Wow, Ayana Fite, Shaniah Mauldin and Brandon Barnes -- was front-and-center for the show’s season 2 screening at the Woodruff Arts Center's Rich Theater in Midtown Atlanta.  YBF ATL correspondent Kiara Walker chopped it up with a few members of the cast to find out what's really going on with them right now.

Watch it all above.

 photo guh11.jpg

As you all know, Zonnique is making waves in the music industry, following in the footsteps of her mother/XSCAPE singer Tiny Harris. As a newbie in the game, she likely has a long list of artists she would love to collaborate with. But, who is her DREAM collaboration?

"Rihanna, for sure," the “Patience” singer told YBF correspondent Kiara. Hmm...we wonder what type of fire track they would come up with.

In case you missed, peep the sexy visuals to her track “Patience” HERE.

 photo reginae1.jpg

Reginae Carter, Lil Wayne& Toya Wright’s daughter, has a lot going on in her life. The 19-year-old is gearing up to be a big sister, she’s moving in with her bestie Zonnique and she has seemingly matured when it comes to clapping back at haters on social media. Check out our exclusive interview with the rap millionaire’s daughter HERE.

 photo guh2.jpg

Star and executive producer Bow Wow rolled up to the event with his rumored new girlfriend Kiyomi Leslie on his arm.

Last season, we saw Bow Wow trying to make things work with his daughter's mom Joie Chavis. But, it's rumored that Joie is getting close with rapper Future.

 photo guh17.jpg

 photo guh1.jpg

Star Shaniah Mauldin brought her dad Jermaine Dupri (who guest stars on the show) along as her date.

 photo guh16.jpg

Brandon Barnes has some big projects he’s working on that fans will get to see in season 2, including launching his very own record label. He’s also working with developing singer/reality star Jhonni Blaze and he has his own girl group he’s working with as well.

“I didn’t grow up like my other cast members and all that. I’m not rich haven’t been rich plan on being rich. But you know I don’t know what it’s like to get everything I’ve always wanted,” he said. “I wouldn’t say I’ve changed since last season. I’m still me. If anything I think I’m more wiser.”

Speaking of Jhonni Blaze...

 photo jblaze.jpg

We caught up with Johnni Blaze to ask her about that heated scene between her and Bow Wow that was shown in the new season’s trailer. Was it real? Or was Bow Wow showing out for the cameras?

“You will have to tune in and see,” she responded. Of course.

However, she did open up on how it is working on her vocals with Brandon.

“Brandon is family. My manager is Debra Antney. Him working with me and building my voice, it was a blessing to advance my talent with him. I love him to death," she said.

 photo guh14.jpg

Star Ayana Fite hit the carpet with her dad DJ Hurricane.

 photo guh15.jpg

We caught up with the fashion designer who dished on her and her girlfriend’s DM struggle.

“The craziest thing is actually in my girl’s DMs. People be writing Amy and be like ‘That’s my woman. Leave her alone.’ She shows me DMs everyday of people threatening her because she’s my girlfriend.”

Lordt. Can y'all relate?

 photo guh4.jpg

 photo guh13.jpg

Singer/actress Demetria McKinney and rapper/radio personality Da Brat struck some poses before heading inside the screening.

Toya Wright is now ready to show off her second daughter’s dad, posting a picture of him and her at their baby shower. Peep the inside pics inside…

Rumors have been swirling about who is Toya Wright’s unborn child’s father since she announced she was pregnant. It even ignited a beef between Toya, her daughter Reginae Carter and rapper Khia. But now, she’s ready to openly share with the masses.

We've heard unconfirmed reports he also has a child with a "model" named Omni.  We have yet to validate this...yet.

Over the weekend, the “How To Lose A Husband” author had some fun with family and friends to celebrate her baby girl Reign’s grand entrance into the world. And she decided she’d share a cute photo of herself and Reign’s father, Atlanta sports manager Robert "Red" Rushing.

Well don’t they look all wrapped up in love.

 photo ReignShower4.png

Oh, and get this….

He definitely seems to have won over the hearts of Toya’s family. About nine months ago, Red allowed Reginae to use his car for prom. Nice!

 photo ReignShower7.png

Several of Toya’s family and friends were in the mix, including soon-to-be big sister/”Growing Up Hip Hop: ATL” star Reginae Carter, Rasheeda, Monica, Monyetta Shaw, Quad Webb-Lunceford, Malaysia Pargo, Shamea Morton and more.

#METOO: Simone Biles Reveals She, Too, Was Sexually Abused By Gymnastics Doctor

Simone Biles is no longer staying silent.  The Olympic Gold Medalist just revealed a gut wrenching truth abut being sexually abused.  See what she had to say inside...

On the heels of her Final Five teammate Aly Raisman and former Fab Five gymnast McKayla Maroney revealing that they have been abused by team doctor Dr. Larry Nassar, Simone Biles is ready to also tell her truth.

The 24-year-old bubbly, giggly, amazing athlete told the world today that she has felt broken lately, and it's from holding in a terrible secret.

As US Gymnastics' team doctor Nassar faces multiples charges of abuse and sexual harassment from gymnasts, Simone asserts he indeed abused her while he called it "special treatment."

Here's her full statement, which ends with her pledging to still push forward harder than ever as she readies to compete for Tokyo 2020.

 photo DTnJoImVwAAl7FL_zpspnjdy6ey.jpg

While Simone didn't detail how Nassar violated her, a 2016 lawsuit by a former member of the United States women's gymnastics team from 2004-2010 (and is going by Jane Doe) did reveal the disturbing incidents the defendant herself endured:

"[Nassar] would tell the minor Plaintiff that other gymnasts would give 'blowjobs' and described in detail the process of oral sex and other bizarre, explicit sexual innuendo," the lawsuit claims.

During the treatment, the September lawsuit claims, Nassar would "introduce his bare hand to Plaintiff's vagina and anus, on multiple locations, in Plaintiff's assigned sleeping quarters, as she lay on the edge of her bed, alone and without any supervision of a chaperone." Similar to the complaint filed Thursday, Nassar allegedly told the gymnast that he was performing a medical procedure called an "intravaginal adjustment."

The exams were conducted without gloves or lubricant and without a chaperone present, according to the lawsuit.

The defendant was ages 12-18 throughout the alleged abuse.

We applaud Simone for doing the gut wrenching act of reliving such a horrific time in order to prevent more girls from facing the same incidents.

REPEAT STEEZ: Laurence Fishburne Is CLEARLY Over This Red Carpet Thing

Laurence Fishburne just said Eff looking for another outfit for another awards show. He put virtually the same exact outfit on for two awards shows within a week. More inside...

 photo lb2.jpg

“black-ish” star Laurence Fishburne is clearly over these red carpet events. So much so, he’s not even concerned with picking out something new to wear to each awards show.

The veteran actor rolled up to the 49th NAACP Image Awards ceremony tonight in this black and red kimono paired with red shoes. He was nominated for the Outstanding Actor in a Television Movie, Limited-Series or Dramatic Special for his role in Madiba. However, Idris Elba ended up nabbing the award.

But we noticed something looked familar.  Last week…

 photo lb1.jpg

He rocked damn near the same exact outfit on the red carpet at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards.

We almost can't even blame him. He's a man of a certain age and has been in the game so long that minor things like an outfit at an awards show are just semantics.

Gotta love that Laurence!

No one came to play on last night's NAACP Image Awards red carpet.  But we handpicked the few who managed to out-slay the rest.  Get into all the black fabulousness inside...

The 49th Annual NAACP Image Awards were one for the books last night, especially considering the powerful evening went down on Martin Luther King Jr.'s observed birthday, and it all started with an epic red carpet at the Pasadena Civic Center. Black folks always show up and show out, and we're here to discuss it all.

Halle Berrrrrrry.  Halle Berry.

The Kidnapped star slid through to present the Music Makes a Difference Honor to Charlie Wilson. Her revealing - like, don't make one wrong move or all the goodies will be saying Hello revealing - Reem Acra burgundy fabness had folks looking for water, towels and everything else when she hit the stage.

The stunning 51-year-old handled the red carpet like a pro with zero wardrobe malfunctions and all the confidence.

"Queen Sugar" star Tina Lifford literally took our breath away with her red carpet perfection. She's been slaying consistently lately.

Aunt Vi was playing no games in a multi-toned, ruffled Steph Audino Couture skirt and AnRFashions sheer blouse.  Pink ankle strapped heels to match her multi-pink toned skirt and wiggery that made us say Yasssss topped off the look.

51 and ridiculously fab.

Tina's "Queen Sugar" co-star Bianca Lawson went for a bold red look in a tiered and ruffled crimson ethereal dress that was simple but gorge.  Perfect red lip to top off the look as well.

Our fave Issa Rae took a risk with head to toe sequins, and it paid off:

The grogeous star was gearing up to head to New Orleans to start filming the new season of her hit show the next morning.  She served up a perfect wavy bob, a little thigh and a snatched waist in a Mac Duggal beaded and sequin dress. We're sure her hubby loved it.

 photo TraceeEllisRoss49thNAACPImageAwardsxa7I0sQev9Xl_zpsf8uve6j4.jpg

Big winner of the night Tracee Ellis Ross also shined her way onto the carpet.  The Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Winner (whose show "blackish" also won big) served up body & glow for days in a Narciso Rodriguez sequin dress.

 photo TraceeEllisRoss48thNAACPImageAwardsd-R9l9vXWbEl_zpscosj6dv1.jpg

She finished her look with Louboutin pumps and a gold Tyler Ellis clutch.  This braid was also everything.

Yara Shahidi was also one of our faves for the night:

The braid, the adorable yet polished gown and that smile worked perfectly for the "grownish" star.  But our fave part was that she mad eit her own, and kept it comfy in combat boots underneath all that dainty-ness.

The fellas didn't disappoint either:

By the way, he brought his mom as his date.

Mack Wilds' tie-less, open shirt look was hella sexy.

And we always love a bold dinner jacket.  So Jay Pharoh, Woody McClain, and mini-cutie Lonnie Chavis caught our eye:

Serena Williams Speaks On Black Women’s High Post-Pregnancy Death Rate, Sheds Tears Reading Other Mothers’ Stories

 photo renababy.jpg

Serena Williams reflects on the complications she endured while giving birth which have opened up a conversation about black women’s rate of death compared to white women on social media. More inside…

Serena Williams is a champion on the tennis court and off as she has embarked on the wonderful journey of motherhood. Not to mention, she’s also a wife now.

The tennis superstar recently opened up in VOGUE magazine about the complications she endured as she gave birth to her first child, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

The 36-year-old had to undergo an emergency C-section after her daughter’s heart rate dropped dangerously low. Baby Olympia was born healthy, but mom still had some complications. Serena ended up suffering a pulmonary embolism, which is blood clots in the lungs. As she was familiar with her medical history, she told the doctors and nurses what to do, but they did not listen. Eventually, they took her advice and they were able to fix the issue.

Now, a conversation about the disproportionate mortality rate of African-American women compared to white women has been hot on social media. Statistics prove that black women are more likely to die from pregnancy (or childbirth-related causes) than white women are.

“I didn’t expect that sharing our family’s story of Olympia’s birth and all of complications after giving birth would start such an outpouring of discussion from women — especially black women — who have faced similar complications and women whose problems go unaddressed,” Serena said in a Facebook message attached to an adorable video of Olympia.

“These aren’t just stories: according to the CDC, (Center for Disease Control) black women are over 3 times more likely than White women to die from pregnancy- or childbirth-related causes. We have a lot of work to do as a nation and I hope my story can inspire a conversation that gets us to close this gap,” she continued.

She’s right. There’s a huge gap that needs to be closed.

“A black woman is 22 percent more likely to die from heart disease than a white woman, 71 percent more likely to perish from cervical cancer, but 243 percent more likely to die from pregnancy- or childbirth-related causes,” a Pro Publica article states.

And it doesn’t seem to matter the black woman's status.

“It tells you that you can’t educate your way out of this problem,” said Raegan McDonald-Mosley, the chief medical officer for Planned Parenthood Federation of America. “You can’t health-care-access your way out of this problem. There’s something inherently wrong with the system that’s not valuing the lives of black women equally to white women.”

As black women, we don’t need statistics to tell us what we already deal with on a daily.  But for those who think we’re making this ish up, the proof is in the numbers.

While Serena’s birth experience wasn’t the greatest, she said she’s happy it happened to her and it made her appreciate herself and other women more.

“It made me stronger and it made me appreciate women -- both women with and without kids -- even more. We are powerful!!!”

After sharing her message, she was bombarded with birthing stories from women all around the world. Rena took some time to read them and it got her super emotional.

“I'm in tears with all these stories I have almost read every single one of them- and plan on doing so! I'm glad we can speak out about this. Let's continue to let our voices be heard. That's the only way to make change,” she wrote in the comments.

Kandi Says She Never Wanted To Eat The Box Despite Kim Zolciak Saying She DID Want To + Rockets Snuck In Secret Entrance To FIGHT Clippers Players?!

Kandi BurrussTucker and Kim Zolciak Biermann are at it….again! And they are letting one another HAVE it…publicly. Catch up on their feud, plus get all the details about the Houston Rockets players busting in the LA Clippers locker room to FIGHT inside…

 photo kandikim.jpg

It appears Kandi Burrus and Kim Zolciak Biermann are back to beefing!

They got over the “Tardy For The Party” fiasco and the baby name-stealing beef. Now, the ladies are ripping each other to shreds on social media over comments Kim made during the latest episode of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

While dining with co-star Sheree Whitfield, Kim opened up a can of worms about Kandi and her husband Todd Tucker’s alleged “swinger” ways. Not only that, Kim made claims that Kandi wanted to eat her box.

As far as the XSCAPE singer is concerned, Kim is full of sh*t and she never once tried to engage in anything sexual with her. She took to Twitter to address those claims and she didn’t sugarcoat it one bit.

 photo kandikim1.jpg

“I’m sick of these b*tches lying on me,” Kandi wrote on Twitter. “@KimZolciak I have NEVER wanted you or your box.”

She continued, “And stop swearing on your kids while you’re telling lies. Lying ass b*tch. Somebody’s really reaching for a permanent peach here… This is my house. You’re just a visitor!”

Yikes. She was pissed.

Minutes later, Kim responded to Kandi’s “PSA” backing up everything she said on the show, tweeting:

 photo kandikim2_1.png

“If anybody is lying it’s you @Kandi You and your husband are full on swingers f*cking all kinds of girls and can NEVER admit. And b*tch if it weren’t for me there would be no house. Remember I built this house!”

Sheesh!

After the show aired, the Grammy Award winning songwriter addressed Kim’s comments about her supposed making sexual advances towards he in a full on interview. Here’s what she had to say:

Bravotv.com: Were you surprised to hear what Kim was saying to Sheree during their dinner?

Kandi Burruss: I couldn’t believe the bullsh-- I heard Kim say to Sheree. Kim is a f---ing liar. I have NEVER tried to make any sexual advance towards Kim. I am not attracted to Kim, and I never have been.

I never have done anything to Kim that could even be taken the wrong way to make her think I wanted her. She must not care much about her kids for her to swear on their lives while she was telling that lie.

I am sick of women from this circle making up sh-- about me. Stop it!

Bravotv.com: What did you think of Mbele the medium?

KB: She was interesting. A lot different from any other medium I’ve seen.

Bravotv.com: Do you think anything was resolved at the "Elephant Room" event?

KB: Absolutely not.

Who do you believe?!

 photo blakechris.jpg

The Houston Rockets did the MOST after losing against the LA Clippers last night. Baller Chris Paul, who is now a Rocket, returned to his old stomping grounds.

It was a heated game to say the least. Tensions were running high as Clippers player Blake Griffin got ejected from the game and his teammate Austin Rivers (dressed in "street clothes") was talking hella trash on the bench. Not only that, Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni got into a shouting match with Blake and Mike even accused Blake of hitting him. It was a wild one.

But that was just the beginning.

Once the game was over, Rocket ballers James Harden, Chris Paul, Trevor Ariza and Gerald Green snuck into the Clippers locker room through a “secret door” to confront Blake and Austin. A secret door bruh?!

And we all can guess how they found out about this secret entrance into the locker room being that Chris previously played for the team.

Sources spilled a few deets to ESPN about how it all went down:

Houston Rockets forward Trevor Ariza and stars Chris Paul and James Harden marched through a back corridor and into the Clippers’ locker room late Monday night, suggesting that they wanted to confront Clippers players Austin Rivers and Blake Griffin, league sources told ESPN.

Rockets guard Gerald Green joined Ariza, Paul and Harden through the connecting hallway and breached the entrance of the home team’s locker room.

Stunned Clippers players, celebrating a 113-102 victory, leaped to their feet upon the realization that four seething Rockets players had come calling for them, sources told ESPN.

For a few fleeting moments, several Clippers dared the Rockets to come farther into the room, sources said. Security and team officials soon converged on the Rockets, pushing them out the door and back toward the visiting locker room, sources said. Ariza was described as the first one through the door, with Paul lingering in the back, witnesses told ESPN.

Rockets center Clint Capela also tried to enter the front door of the Clippers locker room after the game but was turned away by security.

Luckily, security was able to get involved before anything turned physical. NBA analyst were stunned to find out about the situation, revealing nothing like this had ever happened in the NBA before.

After all the madness died down, Blake spoke on the the Rockets bursting into their locker room stating:

"We were where we were supposed to be. We were in our locker room. So whatever happens over there, I mean, we can't control what anybody else does. We control what we did. Everybody was in our seats. That's it. You should ask them."

Now, the NBA is investigating the incident. We’re sure they’re going to lay down the law - in the form of hella fines - on this one. It’s insane. We just want the receipts.  And by receipts, we mean video.  Who's got it?!

Baby West #3 is here! Deets inside on Kim& Kanye's newest bundle of joy...

In an announcement just posted to her app, Kim Kardashian West revealed her and Kanye's third child, a baby girl, has finally arrived via surrogate.

The youngest West was born yesterday (1/15) just after midnight at 12:47am and weighs in at 7lb, 6oz.  So that officially puts the twin rumor to rest.

Here's what Kim had to say about the couple's "greatest gift":

 photo 0116-kim-kardashian-blog-pregant-birth-post-4_zps8528bpri.jpg

Interestingly, the birth comes just days after rumors spread that Kim's sister Kylie Jenner was in labor, but certain outlets said the rumors wern't true.

We're sure this won't help the crazy conspiracy theories that 20-year-old Kylie will hand over her (and Travis Scott's) baby to The Wests and then have another excuse -- which would save her image -- as for why she's been M.I.A. lately. Some conspiracists believe Kylie is actually the couple's surrogate.

We can't wait to see how big sis North and big bro Saint are going to be with their little sister.  We're also itching to hear her name.  We're sure it'll be one for the books.

Congrats to the Wests!

Tiffany Haddish’s Groupon Story Paid Off Tremendously! Chick Nabs A Super Bowl Ad With The Brand

Tiffany Haddish has inked a major gig with Groupon after sharing a hilarious story about using their service for a day out with Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. Deets inside…

When your real life experience leads to securing the bag!

Tiffany Haddish shared a hilarious story about using a Groupon deal on a fun date with Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. And now, that story has copped her a new partnership with the brand.

The Girls Trip breakout star is the new spokesperson for Groupon. And her first, official order of business will be starring in a Super Bowl commercial for the company. It’s the first Super Bowl commercial the company has had in the last seven years.

“Nobody knows Groupon like I know Groupon,” the comedienne gushed. “I’ve been speaking out for them for years. In fact, I should have already been their spokesperson. I’ve invested lots of money into buying Groupon deals, and it’s about time I got an even bigger return on my investment than just saving money at my favorite local businesses.”

Ha!

 photo tiffgroup2.png

Tiffany, who made history with her SNL hosting gig, really does love Groupon in real life. While the ladies were taping Girls Trip, Tiffany booked a swamp tour down in New Orleans and asked Jada and Will to tag along. The Smiths didn’t even know what Groupon was!

If you missed the hilarious story, see the clip HERE.

Congrats Tiffany!

In other news...

We noticed none of the Girls Trip ladies were present at the 2018 NAACP Image Awards last night.  The movie raked in a total of 5 nominations and ending up winning 2 awards, including Outstanding Motion Picture and Tiffany won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture.

Quite odd. Especially when Will and Jada were there last year, seemingly response to the #OscarsSoWhite controversy.  It's also interesting since Jada was quite outspoken about the Globes not eve screening their film and shutting them out of Awards.  So if your own ARE recognizing you, wouldn't it be respectful to at least show up?  We're not sure of their other plans, but it seems as if among the four of hem, at least one could have made sure to be there.  They've known about their nominations for months.

The Smolletts, Rep. Maxine Waters & Sen. Kamala Harris March To Celebrate MLK Day While Y’alls President Went Golfing + 'I Am MLK Jr.' Trailer

 photo mlkday2018.jpg

YBF celebs and politicians hit the streets of LA to celebrate MLK Day. Meanwhile, y’all president chose to go golfing on the day of service. Peep the pics, plus the new “I Am MLK. Jr.” trailer inside…

 photo TimesUpNow6.jpg

Thousands of people came out to flood the streets of LA to celebrate at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade down MLK Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard.

This year’s theme was inspired by the motivational words made by our forever First Lady Michelle Obama, “When They Go Low, We Go High,” to honor the legacy of the civil rights activist.

 photo TimesUpNow4.jpg

 photo TimesUpNow3.jpg

“Underground” actress Jurnee Smollett, her brother/”Empire” star Jussie Smollett, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and U.S. Senator Kamala Harris (who served as the parade's grand marshal) joined the crowds of people to march through the streets for the parade.

Jurnee even brought her baby boy Hunter Zion Bell to participate in the festivities.

 photo TimesUpNow5.jpg

Senator Harris recently made history alongside Sen. Cory Booker. They became the 2nd & 3rd African-Americans to ever serve on the Judiciary Committee in its 200+ year history. Woot!

Peep a few videos and flicks from the parade below:

Fun times!

Meanwhile...

 photo trumpgolf.jpg

While all living presidents participated in some act of service to celebrate MLK Day, y’alls current president decided he would enjoy a relaxing day to golf. His 100th+ day doing so....at his own property.

Despite telling Americans they should perform an act of community service to observe MLK, he did the complete opposite. Anyone shocked? We aren’t.

Trump made his way to the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach in the morning and then he cruised on back to Mar-a-Lago in the afternoon.

Hypocrite. But at least he wasn't doing fake activism, we guess.

In other MLK news...

There's a new documentary on the life and legacy of America's legendary statesman, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the works, titled "I Am MLK Jr."

"I Am MLK Jr." will tell the story and celebrate the life of this American icon from an engaging contemporary perspective structured around seminal events of the Civil Rights Movement. The documentary will feature interviews with key figures, ranging from history-changing civil rights-era activists to contemporary writers, activists and historians along with influencers in sports, entertainment and media.

Peep the trailer above.

"I Am MLK Jr." will premiere on Monday, April 2nd (two days before the 50th anniversary of his assassination) from 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT on the Paramount Network.

Before Issa Rae's big night at the NAACP Image Awards, she had the blackest, dopest, pool party to celebrate her birthday.  And she basically made a certain episode of "Insecure" happen in real life.  Go inside the bomb bash....

 photo unnamed_zpsmv9gz4l6.png

Malibu Chillin'!

"Insecure" creator and star Issa Rae turned 33 recently, so what better way than to celebrate with fellow dope black folks in Hollywood than a MAJORLY turned up pool party.

There's nothing like hella drinks, celebrity friends and a super lit DJ to set it off right.   Issa had most of her cast members from "Insecure" there loose off the Goose - Amanda Seales, Jay Ellis, Yvonne Orji, Lil Rel Howry, Wade Allain Marcus and more.  She posed it up with The DuBoises before they hopped in the pool.  Yes, black folks actually got in the water (after getting talked about by Amanda and Lil Rel).

 photo issa5_zpsjl1uixd0.png

 photo issa1_zps2lxbowvw.png

 photo issa_zpsuo1mlunm.png

Yvonne, social comedian Quinta Bronson, Broderick Washington and more were all over IG letting us in on everything that was going down.  And it was A LOT.

 photo issa3_zps8ps6w2ti.png

Then things got extra litty.  OK Amanda!  We see you....

    photo issa8_zpssugjqyhf.png

 photo issa9_zpssa5wtm2b.png

Issa's co-stars and celeb friends - Hey Wale! - were def on one.  We've got the video receipts (including Issa's birthday twerk session with her bestie and fellow birthday girl Devin - to prove it.

Oh, and if this Malibu mansion looks familiar, that's because it's the same house from the "Insecure" episode where Issa had a meltdown in the hot tub with her girls, then rushed home to make up with Lawrence....who had already moved ALL his ish out their apartment.

Robin Theade, the hilarious Natasha Rothwell (Kelli), fine ** Y'lan Noel (Daniel) and more came through too. Check the videos below:
