Actress Tracee Ellis Ross is putting her celebrity to good use.  Last week, she rode into Ohio to make sure the votes swing in favor of Obama. 

With people in the state already voting, Tracee hopped on the DNC/Obama For America “Gotta Vote” Bus Tour.  She traveled to Dayton and Columbus to encourage voters to take advantage of early voting and make sure they are registered to vote.

Tyler Perry is starring in his first action flick (where he's not rocking a wig & shooting up family members).  He's Alex Cross, the fictional homicide detective/psychologist from a series of books by James Patterson -- and it's the character previously played by Morgan Freeman in Kiss The Girls and Along Came A Spider.  And one of the richest writers/directors/actors in the business premiered the new flick last night at Hollywood's Arclight Theater.

Beyonce Knowles will be hitting the Superbowl once again.  But this time, she's set to rock the entire halftime show at Super Bowl XLVII in February.

Her love's not the only thing on top.  Beyonce's set to reclaim her Pop/R&B crown after a here-and-there hiatus as she's set to takeover the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show.  It's one of the largest TV audiences in the world, and it's the only way to kick off the new album she's working on.

According to an Associated Press source, the official announcement will be made tomorrow (Wednesday).

After years of arguably lackluster performances, the "Run The World" singer will be bringing her energy to an audience of over 100 million viewers.   To put this in perspective, a YBF chick, performing solo, will be one of the most watched people in the world come Super Bowl Sunday.  That's big.

This is Bey's second time partaking in the Super Bowl festivities as she sang the National Anthem at the 2004 Super Bowl game in her hometown of Houston, Texas.  As for previous YBF folks who rocked the Halftime show--Janet Jackson (with Justin Timberlake), Nicki Minaj & Cee Lo (with Madonna and others), Prince, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross solo, Stevie Wonder with Chaka Khan and others, Boyz II Men with Queen Latifah and others and plenty more.

Rihanna's UK-based reality show "Styled To Rock" has been a flop in the ratings and may not return for a second season. Get the deets inside and find out the release date of Dawn Richard's GoldenHeart.

Previously we told you about Rihanna (shown above heading to dinner at L.A. eatery Scarpetta last night) producing a reality show in the UK called "Styled To Rock," but don't expect it to make it across the pond anytime soon.  It's been on the air for over a month, and folks still aren't watching.

Unfortunately for RiRi, her midas touch in the music field didn't translate into television ratings for the Sky Living network.  One TV insider told the Daily Mail UK, 'There are no plans to bring it back. Commissioners lost confidence in the project.'

Ratings revealed that only 95,000 viewers tuned in to watch the first episode of the fashion design show. But there may be a glimmer of hope for the "Diamonds" singer as a Sky Living source said: 'It is far too early to make a decision." 

Will a publicity stunt ensue to boost the viewership?

Singer Dawn Richard has announced a new release date for her upcoming full-length debut album GoldenHeart.  The disc will hit stores worldwide on January 15, 2013, thanks to a distribution deal Dawn recently signed with Altavoz Distribution.

Dawn, whose previous Armor On EP was only available digitally, spoke about the new deal saying,

“It’s a movement, we are starting here. After all our hard work, we finally are expanding our art into stores. We wanted to make GoldenHeart available to all [Hearts], not just digitally. The project is too amazing to be limited to one portal of access. It’s time to get excited. This is a big deal for us!”

Business moguls Ludacris and Jay-Z have both released commercials for their brands of cognac. Decide who made the best ad inside and read Frank Ocean's latest (interesting) open letter of ramblings to fans.

Jay-Z and Ludacris are both staking their claim on the cognac industry with the release of new ads for D'USSE and Conjure respectively. 

Jay-Z's ad (which is silent) appears to have been shot in a swanky apartment and shows the rapper smoking a cigar in slow motion while staring at the NYC skyline. 

Meanwhile, Ludacris' commercial took a more familiar approach as director Larenz Tate (yes...the actor) put the rapper amidst a room of party-goers in a lounge setting.  And former Danity Kane member D. Woods makes a cameo as the lounge's entertainment. 

Larenz talked about directing the clip saying, “It was a pleasure working with my good friend Chris Bridges on the Conjure commercial. It feels good to work alongside people you respect. I hope my vision as a director gives the world a glimpse of the new level that Chris is taking his cognac brand. Cheers!”

Frank Ocean posted an open letter (written in his "stream of consciousness" style) on his Tumblr recently where he let fans in on some of the things floating through his head.  In the Notepad letter, (he obviously hates paragraphs by the way), he talks about writing a novel, his new relationship, working with people like Jay-Z and Pharrell and reveals that Oreos don't taste good with almond milk. 

Frank ended by saying that he's working on a lot of music.  But judging from all the things going on in his head, maybe the homie could use a break.

Brandy performed at the Best Buy Theater in NYC last night to promote the release of her new album Two Eleven.   The album was executive produced by Breyon Prescott and Brandy herself, and it marks the end of the "Put It Down" singer's four year hiatus from the industry.

She put on her leathery best--almost like an updated look from her "I Wanna Be Down" days that we loved--to perform for her fans and celebrity friends last night.

Brandy will be in NYC all week doing promo for the disc with upcoming appearances on "GMA" and "Watch What Happens Live" on Thursday and "Wendy Williams" and "Live With Kelly and Michael" on Friday.  WORK.

"I walk into a room with a lot more confidence. All my life I've tried to hide my height. I was taller than everybody else and stood out, so I would slouch and try to hide it. On replacing Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross…

Diddy put his swanky $8.5 million midtown Manhattan penthouse on the market last month.  And now, we get a peek into just how the next multi-millionaire owner will be living.

Hopefully the couple gives those racks and strip clubs a rest while they dote on this little cutie.

King Cairo will surely have a nursery fit for his name as his pops just dropped $6.5 million on a mega-mansion in Calabasas, CA.  Its got 7 bedrooms, 8 baths, a movie theater, pool, spa, waterfall, sports court, and gym.  Tyga must be raking in the dough with those strip club bangers.

The home measures 9,200 square feet and includes a gold-leaf entry dome, four fireplaces, a multi-station camera security system and an in-ground trampoline.

His labelmate, who will now be Uncle Drake also lives in the area.  Nice!

Flavor Flav is looking a mess these days.  Yes, more than his normal mess.  And he's acting a mess too.  Deets on him getting arrested for alleged assault with a deadly weapon, which may or may not have been on his own child, and his struggle of a mug shot inside...

So over in Vegas, Flavor Flav is cutting up at his house.  Mr. Drayton and his disheveled demeanor apparently got into a fight with a youngin' and his fiancee inside his home.  Dude pulled out a gun and battery ensued. He was cuffed around 3AM and and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor domestic violence (battery).  And he has yet to pay his $23K bail.

According to TMZ:

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, Flav -- real name William Drayton Jr. -- allegedly got into a heated verbal argument with a teenager in his house, as well as his fiancee. His fiancee then called 911.

It's unclear if the teenager is Flavor's child.

According to law enforcement sources, Flav allegedly threatened one person with a knife during the argument, and battered the other -- it's unclear which person he threatened, and which he physically attacked.
 

As for this mugshot though...

BONUS: Katt Williams was also arrested last night...but released hours later...once an unregistered gun was found in his car outside of a Hollywood nightclub.  No charges were filed.

What was the realization that you were ready to make a strictly R&B album?
That’s what my fans wanted from me. I felt like that was my way to reintroduce myself to them and introduce myself to people that don’t even know me. They’re supporting me and it feels good. I took my daughter to the Mindless Behavior concert and 10- to 16-year-olds are screaming to the top of their lungs when I’m walking in. I started doing music before they were born! I just remember asking some little girl, ‘How do you know me?’

It’s widely known that Two Eleven means a lot to you. It’s your birth date but also the date of Whitney Houston’s passing. What runs through your mind when you recall that day?
February 11th will never be the same. I think about her everyday but that day in particular, it’s different. I didn’t understand. I had just seen her the day before; I just spoke to her a couple days before she passed. It just didn’t seem right the way she passed. I was angry, I was confused, but as I started to process it all, I just started to feel like there was a responsibility that she passed on to me to stay true to [the music]. She gave me the dream and possibility, and I have to do that same thing for other people. This music thing is not just about me anymore. It’s about the people that I’m relating to. People need music.

Not only have you stepped back in the music realm, you’ve been exercising your acting chops as of late. How was the transition back?
It was scary and natural. When I impressed my acting coach [Tasha Smith], I felt like I could go forward. She really helped me rediscover that confidence in my acting. I was blessed with "Drop Dead Diva" then Chardonnay for "The Game." I really had to get in there and do my thing if I was going to fit in with them. I just trusted my instincts, the same way I did with "Moesha." To be able to trust that again was great, and I’m happy I get a chance to possibly go back to "The Game" full-time.

Are you excited to work with Lauren London?
Yes! I’m obsessed with Lauren London because she’s so damn cute. I’m excited to work with her and to see her new character, but I’m going to miss Tia [Mowry]. She was such the anchor and backbone of that show.

And yesterday.......

The songstress stopped by "106 & Park" in a shaggy sweater and camo jeans and chatted with Bow Wow and Miss Mykie.

During the chat, Brandy mentioned that one of her favorite tracks on the album is called "Scared of Beautiful" which was written by Frank Ocean. The track is about being afraid to be your best self. 

She also showed the hosts her dance moves.  Loves her.

In case you were hoping this Houstons family reality show would just go away.  It does't look like it will.  The Houstons just put out their promo pics for their upcoming "On Our Own" Lifetime reality show.

Bobbi Kristina Brown donned her flapper inspired gold fringed dress and gold YSL sandals for her promo shoot.  The daughter of the late Whitney Houston will showcase just how she's getting through the sudden death of her mother...mainly with the help of her godbrother turned lover, Nick Gordon.

And speaking of Nick, he got his time in front of the camera and will spend his time on the show proving (or telling them he doesn't have to prove) how much he loves Bobbi Kris.  But does he have an ulterior motive?

Whitney's sister-in-law Pat Houston is trying to hold the family together after the tragedy.

Pat's daughter Rayah also stars on the show.

Mom Cissy Houston is doing everything in her power to protect her granddaughter.

And Whitney's brother Gary is also holding it together for the fam.
