Jaden's little sis Willow is also making some major moves.  She just acquired film rights for two female-led and driven projects!

The singer/actress' MSFTS Production is partnering up with Cartel Entertainment to develop Alwyn Hamilton’s YA trilogy Rebel Of The Sands, and will also develop Menencholy, an animated series based on Smith’s original book proposal.

Talk about creating your own powerful opportunities.  Her mom and dad taught her well.

Deadline reports:

The former, a potential starring vehicle for Smith, follows 17-year-old Amani as she flees her hometown of Dustwalk on a dangerous journey through the desert nation of Miraji, where mortals rule, but mythical beasts still roam the wild. The novel was published last year via Viking Young Readers and the its sequel,  Traitor To The Throne, was released March 7.

Major!  So what can you expect from these new projects?  the site states:

Menencholy centers on the epic journey of a young girl named Menen-Nin Khali with a gift that allows her to see into her past life. She eventually finds herself at a mystical place called The Mystery School, where we follow her as she goes through a metamorphosis. In time Menen begins to accept the true power that lies within her and uses it to save herself and her town.

Willow says about her new move:

“The nonphysical, creative and, wild nature of a female heroine’s journey calls for a unique narrative structure that permeates the very foundation of the story. Enjoy the ride!”

Boosie BadAzz is NOT here for the Biloxi police after that pepper spray and arrests of his homies at the mall on Sunday. He's giving his side of the story and calling out the po pos for allegedly jacking his jewelry! But the cops are clapping back....

The fall out from the drama that ensued from the mall incident between Boosie's crew and mall cops in Biloxi is REAL!

Boosie accused the cops of stepping to him and his crew, caling him "Boy" and ordering him out of the Dillards store.  When they tried to leave, he says they were cornered in by a cop who proceeded to pepper spray his 6 months pregnant family member.  These details, pre-brawl outside, are what news outlets conveniently left out, says the rapper.

he also says when they got outside, the cops followed him and continued to attack.

Boosie accused the cops of stealing his jewelry, but the cops say he simply didn't come pick it up.

Public Affairs Manager Vincent Creel tells TMZ:

...cops found a suitcase full of gold jewelry and a stolen gun in the van they pulled over in connection with the scuffle between mall security and Boosie's crew on Sunday. We're told cops gave instructions on how to get all the property back ... but nobody followed them.

Boosie still says they're lying. And he wants ALL the lawyers to come to Biloxi to set this ish straight:

Get into the philanthropic spirit with Jada Paul getting girls prom ready and Jazmine Sullivan feeding the homeless to celebrate her 30th birthday inside…

Over the weekend, Jada Paul, wife to Los Angeles Clippers baller Chris Paul, hosted her sixth annual Prom Dress Giveaway n collaboration with her husband’s Chris Paul Foundation at the Intercontinental Hotel in Century City.

“This is our sixth year doing the prom dress giveaway and it gets better every year,” stated Jada Paul. “It means a lot to our family to help make the prom a memorable evening for the girls. In addition to this event, we also host one in Winston Salem, North Carolina, our hometown.”

Nice! Doing it big in two cities.

125 lucky high school seniors in the L.A. area were treated to a day of pampering to get them ready for prom. The event included a light breakfast buffet, runway fashion show with models from Natural Models LA and the Los Angeles Clippers Spirit, a braid bar sponsored by Keyes Automotive, and makeup instruction by The Glam Agency.

In an effort to make each young lady’s prom night special, the ladies were able to select everything they will need for their big night, including their prom dress, shoes, purses and jewelry.

YBF actress Holly Robinson Peete stepped out to show support of Jada’s endeavor.

After wrapping up the event, Jada’s family joined her for a group shot, including her mother Jackie Crawley, her aunt Rhonda Richardson, her sister-in-law Desiree Paul, her mother-in-law Robin Paul, her cousin Tequio Richardson, her niece Chloe Paul and, of course, her daughter Camryn Paul.

Props to another successful year for Jada and her crew getting some young ladies prom ready!

In today’s TV round up, we have news about Ludacris gearing up for a “Fear Factor” reboot, Regina King will star in a new crime drama that will be helmed by John Ridley and the first look at Shemar Moore in charcter for his new series “SWAT.” Deets inside…

Here’s a good luck coming from Ludacris.

The Atlanta rapper recently inked a deal with MTV and now the first project of many is coming down the pipeline.

Luda is set to host and executive produce a reboot of the classic series “Fear Factor.” Filled with new stunts inspired by urban legends, popular scary movies and viral videos from today’s cultural zeitgeist, “Fear Factor” contestants will confront their fears, be pushed beyond their comfort zones and take action against some of their biggest stressors.

“I am excited to kick off my partnership with MTV, starting with the relaunch of ‘Fear Factor’ which will be even more insane and ludicrous than what you remember,” Ludacris said in a press release. “This will be the first of many great projects together!”

Nothing will be off limits as MTV aims to hit on youth tension points with challenges including “Roach-ella,” “Trap Queen,” and personal cell phone rescues at heights of over one hundred feet, to name a few. Oh lord.

In each episode, contestants will pair up into four teams – siblings, college rivalries, roommates, best friends, co-workers and exes and more – battling it out for $50,000 of cold hard cash and “Fear Factor” bragging rights.

“Fear Factor” is set to premiere on Tuesday, May 30th at 10:00pm EST on MTV.

In other TV news...

Regina King is teaming up with director John Ridley (rolls eyes) again to produce a new crime drama. The EMMY winner and the Oscar winning producer, who previously worked together on "American Crime," are working on a series titled “No Place Safe,” a FX series about the murders of Atlanta children in the late 70s and 80s.

The project is reportedly based on Kim Reid’s compelling memoir.

According to Variety, “No Place Safe” is a memoir set in 1979 at the time Atlanta child were being murdered told through the eyes of a young African-American teenager. Reid's mother was an investigator in the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office who was also on the task force searching for the serial killer. She told Kim details about their search for the killer who took the lives of 29 victims, mostly young black boys.

This plot seems very interesting, but are we here for a John Ridley project, especially after those comments about why he chose to cast an Asian woman to lead his “Guerilla” project about the black power movement.

Another reboot heading to the tube...

Shemar Moore is giving his fans a sneak peek at his character HONDO for the CBS pilot “S.W.A.T.” He left “Criminal Minds” after 11 seasons to lead his own series and now we get to see what type of action the 46-year-old actor will be getting into on the new show.

The series is inspired by the 2003 SONY movie that was based on the 1975 ABC series, according to Deadline.

The new drama is described as “an intense, action-packed procedural following a locally born and bred S.W.A.T. lieutenant, Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson (Moore), torn between loyalty to the streets and duty to his fellow officers when he’s tasked to run a highly-trained unit that is the last stop for solving crimes in Los Angeles.”

FUN FACT: Samuel L. Jackson played Hondo in the film version.

The show is written by Aaron Rahsaan Thomas (also an executive producer) and Shawn Ryan, Neal H. Moritz, and Justin Lin are tapped as executive producers.

And while Shemar is playing a super serious role, he's still goofing off in between shooting scenes.

On this Sunday's episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” Khloe confronted Malika about ignoring her phone calls and never spending time with her anymore since she started hooking up with her new BAE.

When Malika popped up at Khloe’s photoshoot, Khloe asked, "I thought you couldn't come here today because you were with your boyfriend?"

"I told you I would if I could and I'm here," Malika responded.

Malika then had to set her straight about her new relationship. Well, kinda. "Look, you know, sometimes priorities...some things have to change, I'm sorry."

She continued, "Khloe understands, she got a man [Tristan Thompson] and her priorities changed too. I took a back seat, the same way she's taking a back seat now."

Then Khloe responded, "I don't like the fabrications of it all. You're trying to say how I've changed when I do try to make an effort, so let's not play that game."

"The fashion industry is here for everyone, [regardless] of color or race.  When I was growing up, I never saw someone like me, and now the other girls can see someone like them. It's all about inspiration."

Eddie Murphy's family is speaking up about the death of Charlie Murphy.  Read their statement inside.

The sad news of actor/comedian/writer Charlie Murphy's sudden death hit everyone hard yesterday, and his younger brother Eddie Murphy and family are expressing their sadness over the heart breaking loss.

In a statement issued to press yesterday, the Murphy family said:

"Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle and friend Charlie.  Charlie filled our family with love and laughter and there won’t be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed. Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and prayers. We respectfully ask for privacy during this time of great loss for all of us.”

Charlie lost his battle to Leukemia yesterday at the age of 57.  

As one of the realist comedian's of our generation -- who did far more behind the scenes than many people realize -- the comedy community gave an outpouring of love and remembrances in his memory.

Netflix’s “Dear White People” has a new trailer that just dropped and white folks are still going to be mad. BUT, if they would take the time to actually understand what’s going on in the brand new trailer (and the series), they might find it funny (and informative). More inside…

Oh, y’all thought “Dear White People” was going somewhere? Nope.

When white folks first learned the new series was coming to Netflix, they were talking about launching a boycott and even threatened to cancel their Netflix subscriptions. Well, it doesn’t appear their idle threats worked because the show is still set to premiere.

In the first official trailer for the brand new series, viewers will quickly learn that the show is FULL of satire and it’s going to be funny as all hell.

The series adaptation will feature 10 half-hour episodes all written and directed by Justin Simien, the man behind the film. The show’s cast includes Logan Browning ("Hit The Floor"), Antoinette Robertson ("The Haves and the Have Nots"), and Deron Horton ("Burning Sands").

Actor Brandon P. Bell is joining the cast to reprise his role as Troy Fairbanks, the political science student who’s seeking to become the first black student president. Other castmates who will be returning from the film original include Marque Richardson, and Ashley Blaine Featherson.

Wendy Williams gives her unfiltered opinion on why Tyrese is always “schooling” women, but never has anything negative to say about men. And it's shade filled.

So we’ve discussed how Tyrese continually goes on rants about what women should and shouldn’t be doing to get a man. It’s as if he coined himself the “savior” women should come to for tips on how to get a man. But, he never says anything about what a man should or shouldn’t be doing. And we’re not the only ones to realize he NEVER criticizes the very men sleeping with these "hoes" he calls women out for being.

Well, daytime talk show host Wendy Williams has drawn up her conclusion as to why Black Ty never says anything about men. She brought up the R&B singer’s rants about women during her Hot Topic segment today and then offered up her revelation.

She said, “Tyrese only talks bad about women because he…likes men,” then she picked up her mug and sipped her tea. Lordt.

We bet he’ll offer up a lengthy response....that will somehow blame women.

Last night…

The 52-year-old talk show host stepped out to at Lovage Rooftop to celebrate her Resident magazine cover. She’s the April 2017 cover girl of the luxury lifestyle magazine, so she hit the party scene to turn up.

Inside the magazine, the daytime diva dished on how she lost 50lbs and her vegetarian lifestyle.

She said,

“I lost 50 pounds that was no secret. My hair is thin, too thin for what I needed to be for a showgirl. I’m a big woman, a big personality and we can’t have what we want, unless we buy it. The first step was getting on the scale which read 195 pounds. I had no idea. That’s not the most I’ve weighed in my life, I hit 297 pounds when I delivered my son, but I’m tall and I carried it like a champ. But, I did not want to go into 50, weighing 195 pounds because from what I hear when you turn 50, and I was 48 at the time, everything changes. In my mind, I though “Oh my god!” on my 51st birthday my vagina is gonna dry up, I will no longer be able to lose weight, my breasts will drop to the floor and all this horrible stuff. So I took two years to lose the weight, slow and steady is the name of the game. I don’t break a sweat, a little Pilates here and there. Take the top bun off, and since I’m not allergic to anything, there was nothing that I cut out of my diet. Instead of eating the whole bag I only have two or three twizzlers for now and then eat the rest later. Just moderation. And know I weigh a healthy 145. I’m 52 now, so I kept it for 2 years."

"Now, our family has been vegetarian for almost 2 years. And that has helped to keep it off I would imagine. Don’t have high blood pressure. I feel very healthy. I keep a fruitful, intimate life. And I also have a pretty youthful spirit. It starts with the mind. I love to laugh and I love to have a good time. I have a healthy balance of both. I know how to get my work done otherwise this wouldn’t have happened. I have an app coming out too by the way. It’s being beta tested right now. And so far, so good. People are loving it. The app will show me outside doing things that I normally do in my regular life, like taking pottery lessons.”

Def seems like she's lost ore than 50 pounds at this point.

Wendy also talked about the struggles and victories with expanding her brand, like that Aaliyah movie.

“Ok, the wig thing didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to although I thought would be my best outside business. The problem is that people want the wigs to look like my wigs. I’m wild and messy, but mine are not wigs straight from the book, people don’t understand that. Though my wig started from the books, I put three pounds of hair in, dyed it and put the highlights in it, and cut baby hair. And my Wendy wigs didn’t quite reflect the wigs I wear. But my clothing line has worked out very, very well especially with having a TV show where I can wear the pieces that appeal to women of a wide age gap. I started with the pencil dress, wrap skirts, and wrapped dresses and the next thing was outerwear. And now, I’m tipping my foot into home decor, which I’m very excited about because there is nothing better than great throws and sheets and cute things to put on your sink to hold your stuff. You could go anywhere with home decor and it is very, very true to me. I’m a nester and nesting all the time. So that is one of my big outside successes, as well as my production company. We’ve done a few really good things. Aailyah was Lifetime’s 2014 most watched movie. Whether you liked it or you hated it, you know that was one of our movies. I had a successful series on the Investigation Discovery channel.”

Now, he’s giving our YBF readers a head start on what pieces us curvy girls should be copping in preparation for summer 2017.

TheYBF.com shared some style tea with the genius Mr. Snell this week who gave us some serious tips for the hot season.

He shared the biggest obstacle in styling curvy women and the inspiration behind his brand new Always For Me collection (which is currently available on the brand's website).

If you’re a curvy girl, you know some of the struggles that come with searching for a bomb ensemble. And Timothy knows about that struggle all too well.

“The only obstacle I would say is I wish there were more style choices out there available for curvy women," he told TheYBF.com."When I style a curvy woman, I just approach the women as who she is. Anybody can bring a size 2 gown to someone and make it work. But, build a body, shape a body and work with curves that really shows true talent when you can work with a woman with curves.”

Mr. Snell, who stars in his own show "Curvy Style With Timothy Snell" on Centric, has created a collection of pieces for the Always For Me brand and he shared what inspired the pieces he created. He said:

“I wanted to give the modern, curvy woman options. I tried to design pieces that they could wear from the beach to the street.”

So here are Tim's FIVE must-have pieces every curvy girl should have in her wardrobe as this weather reaches "it's too hot for these Spanx" levels.

1. Every woman should have an a-line skirt.

“Know your body. Find out what works best for your body and your body type.”

2. Boss up on color!

“Summer is coming, don’t be afraid of color! I’m a big fan of monochromatic dressing. It has a way of making you look longer, taller, more polished and more sophisticated. Don’t be afraid to do a pop of color on the foot or a belt. Don’t be afraid to do a multicolored skirt or something. Color is big and bold for summer 2017 and I think curvy women should be more open to play with color.”

3. The off-the-shoulder shirt/blouse is hot this season.

“Know what you’re shopping for first, whether it’s day wear, evening wear or casual wear.” He revealed the off-the-shoulder shirt is a big trend in the fashion world right now, but don’t break the bank purchasing one.

4. Invest in a beautiful loafer, because the flat shoe game has been upgraded.

"These loafers these days, with the color, embroidery, the printing, invest in something like that. I believe in investment pieces and I believe in throwaway pieces. Trend pieces are what I call throwaway items. In those throwaway items, they should be inexpensive pieces."

5. Get you a pair of palazzo pants. You won't be disappointed.

“Huge palazzo pants that are very comfortable and slouchy. You can just throw on and dress it up with a blazer or pair it with an off-the-shoulder shirt or t-shirt."

By the way, when it comes to updating your wardrobe for the new season, Tim says if something works for you and looks good on you, then stick with that.  Let's get it, ladies!

While Kelly was at a bookstore in Ridgewood, NJ last night signing copies of her new book Whoa, Baby!, she was approached by who she thought were fans asking for a picture.

Instead, they were anti-fur protestors who flipped it and started yelling about kelly having blood on her hands.  They even whipped out signs personalized for her.

It was all caught on video below.  Kelly simply stepped aside and let them do their thing:

LeBron James is giving back to the kids in his hometown of Akron in a major way. He’s gearing up to open a public school designed for at-risk students. Details inside…

On top of being one of the most dominant players in the NBA, LeBron James is also a dominant force in the philanthropic world.

The Cleveland Cavaliers baller is teaming up with Akron Public Schools to open a brand new school designed to help underprivileged students in his hometown.

It’s being reported that LeBron’s “I Promise School” is set to open in 2018 for third and fourth graders and it is expected to expand to first through eighth grade by 2022. SO here for it! We need more schools that will help develop law-abiding citizens rather than more juvenile jails to lock them up.

"This school is so important to me because our vision is to create a place for the kids in Akron who need it most—those that could fall through the cracks if we don't do something,” LeBron said. “We've learned over the years what works and what motivates them, and now we can bring all of that together in one place along with the right resources and experts. If we get to them early enough, we can hopefully keep them on the right track to a bigger and brighter future for themselves and their families"

Students will be selected for the elementary school via a lottery, according to Jennifer Conn of Cleveland.com.

The four-time NBA MVP spoke during an event this week to announce his vision of the school in collaboration with his LeBron James Family Foundation. Check it:

Over the last six years, LeBron has helped over 1,100 kids in Akron with an array of initiatives. You’ll recall, he also teamed up with the University of Akron and provided four-year scholarships to qualifying students within his “I Promise” program.

Coming To America is set to return with a sequel...officially!  But will Eddie Murphy be joining the new flick?  Details inside...

It's been rumored for a while now, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, it's finally happening.

The classic comedy flick Coming To America is getting the sequel treatment, and the writers of the original movie have been tapped by Paramount to pen the script.  THR states:

The studio has hired Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield, who penned the 1988 original, to write the potential sequel, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

It's unclear if star Eddie Murphy will be reprising his role as Prince Akeem.  Stars Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Shari Headley, Sam Jackson, Garcelle Beauvais, Eriq La Salle and John Amos also made up the original cast.

Since the Prince of Zumunda and Lisa rode off into the royal sunset at the end of the movie, it'll be interesting to see where the writers take the plot in the sequel.

Folks around the net are either cheering their heads off about this sequel news, or pissed that the movie studio is messing with a good thing.

Questions and details are rising out of the sad and peculiar death of well respected New York Judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam.  The latest inside...

Judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam, an associate judge on the New York Court of Appeals, was found dead in the Hudson River on Wednesday.  Police have initially suspected the death as "likely a suicide."  She was the first black woman to be appointed to a seat on New York's highest court. While Judge Abdus-Salaam, 65, had reached some of the highest career achievements of a judge, her personal life (and work life) had its struggles.

But it was also a life marked by personal tragedy. Her brother committed suicide three years ago around this time of year, two law enforcement sources told CNN on Thursday. Abdus-Salaam, 65, had also been stressed recently at work, the sources said.

Detectives say no suicide note was found.  She was also found fully dressed in workout gear.

The NY Times reports:

The last time someone heard from Judge Sheila Abdus-Salaam apparently was on Tuesday when she called her chambers in the Graybar Building in Manhattan to say she wasn’t well and would not be coming in. At some point, she had left her apartment in Harlem, law enforcement officials said, departing without her wallet and cellphone, and locking the door behind her.

When Judge Abdus-Salaam — the first black woman to serve on New York State’s highest court — failed to appear at work on Wednesday, her assistant grew concerned and contacted her husband, who reported her missing, the law enforcement officials said. Then that afternoon, there was a terrible discovery: The judge’s body floating, fully clothed and with no apparent signs of trauma, in the Hudson River.

Police have not yet relayed the exact cause of death, but they did say this:

"Obviously, we're still waiting for the full investigation, but to the extent that the challenges and the stresses in her life contributed to this, it's a reminder that even the most accomplished people still deal with extraordinary challenges inward, and we don't get to see that," New York Mayor Bill de Blasio told reporters Thursday. "It is humbling. It's a sad day. Someone who got so far and was lost so soon."

In other unfortunate news, Cook County Associate judge Raymond Myles, 66, was shot dead outside of his Chicago home on Monday.  The FBI is assisting the Chicago Police Department in the investigation and is offering a $25,000 reward for any information about the shooting.

Our sincerest condolences to the friends and families of both Judge Myles and Judge Abdus-Salaam.

Michaela Coel, our newest East London bestie-in-our-head, created one of the best comedies on Netflix you're not watching.  But for those of you obsessed with it like we are, we finally learned why there's ONLY 6 episodes per seasons....

We've been obsessed with "Chewing Gum" since it made its Netflix debut last year.  While the rest of the world was seemingly sleeping on it (folks are definitely more woke about it now that season 2 is out), we were binging that ish like a pan of Patti Pie.

The 29-year-old writer and creator of the now BAFTA-winning sitcom gives us life as the virginal, evangelical-raised "Tracey" who is trying her damndest to lose her virginity in the most hilarious, Thot-iest, and unfortunate ways possible.  Too bad chick gets a nosebleed every time she gets horny.  It's a hot mess – and so is her equally hilarious on-screen sister played by Susan Wokoma– and we can't get enough. 

That's why we (and everybody else) have been frustratingly perplexed by the super short 6 episode seasons.  We thought chick was just holding out!  But, there's a good reason.  A REALLY good reason.  The boss chick is the sole writer of the series, and flushing out more than 6 episodes by herself just ain't the move.

Mel B. has been having a pretty tough month with her pending divorce, and yesterday, she had HAD IT with the paparazzi following her every move....

Mel B. has been followed mercilessly for several weeks now, and she's over it.  Between dealing with her divorce and the never ending tabloid fodder surrounding it, chick had reached her limit when she saw paparazzi following her in traffic yesterday in L.A.

Her makeup artist caught it on camera -- Mel B. hopped out the car and flipped the script on the trailing paps.  Apparently, she went off on them for their behavior.  Check it:

Before the incident, Mel was on the set of a new project shooting scenes, and she seemed to be in good spirits.  She seemed to be unbothered by the latest reports of estranged husband Stephen Belafonte, who she's accused of committing major domestic violence,  running to media saying it's all a lie.

An ex (or two) of Stephen has also come forward to allege threesomes happened between them and the couple, and that he was also allegedly abusive to one of th exes.

Stephen has also reportedly been hitting up one of his exes complaining that British singer/actress/tv host Mel has cut him off from her 40M pound fortune.

Ceasar of Black Ink Crew announced he would be opening Black Ink Atlanta on this week's episode of the VH1 show.  And today is the grand opening.  Oh, we also now know why he's been boo'd up with Karlie Redd so much now....

Yesterday, Ceasar was in the club partying it up with his new boo, LAHH ATL star Karlie Redd.  And we assume they got this close because he's been in the city so much lately opening his new Atlanta shop.  Hmph.

It's about time somebody checked TF out of Gilbert Arenas and his asinine comments about black women, particularly dark skinned women. See how an Instgram user made the former NBA baller rethink life after his latest foolery...

Former NBA baller Gilbert Arenas has earned his IG name "no chill gil" thanks to his sometimes funny, but always crass commentary.  He often makes his ex wife the butt of his jokes, which can get uncomfortable.  He also often makes jokes at the expense of black women, and that ish is never funny.

Today, Gilbert messed around and assumed an Instgram user would laugh with him when he commented on their stat asking "just how BLACK he's talking" when the person said dark skinned black women should believe they're beautiful.  The comment was gross, underhanded and reeked of colorism despite being masked in "comedy."  Again, black women as the butt of his "jokes."

User @problkthought checked him though, and all came tumbling down:

Gilbert then claimed he "misread" the original comments, but honestly, his explanation doesn't make much sense. So we're just going to let him have that. At least he apologized and finally saw the error in his ways.

There have been NUMEROUS times Gilbert has done everything BUT apologize for his foolish words when women attempt to defend themselves or other women in regards to disgusting comments. 

Magically, though, when he got checked by this person and he straightened up quite quickly.

Let's see how long Gilbert's "new vision" lasts.
