Russ Parr has a new movie on his hands and it's going to be a knockout.

Before Ringside hits the small screen, writer/director Russ Parr hit up the TV One portion of the 2016 Television Critics Association Summer Tour held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel this week with the cast, including Jackie Long, Raney Branch, Sevyn Streeter, Tyler Lepley, and Allen Maldonado to dish on the new boxing film.

Ringside stars Tyler Lepley ("The Haves and the Have Nots," Baggage Claim) as undefeated boxer Jaxon Holley and explores the personal battles he faces outside of the ring while preparing for the biggest fight of his career. As he gears up for the epic fight, he's met with several distractions -- including family drama, thirsty groupies, and a manager with a serious gambling problem -- that try to deter him from his ultimate goal.

"I love portraying complex characters, and Jaxon definitely fits into that category," said Tyler. "On the surface, he fits the mold of the stereotypical braggadocios boxer, but that's simply a persona. In reality, he's a hardworking, highly educated man who cares about nothing more than providing for his family and friends. Bringing him to life onscreen pushed me as an actor in the best of ways."

Sevyn, who stars as Tyler's on-screen sister, rocked the perfect summer ensemble for the TCA panel discussion.

Jackie Long will star as the manager with the gambling problem in the made for TV film.

Actress Denise Boutte, who stars in the upcoming TV One film Media, linked up with Sevyn and another guest as she made her rounds. 

Ringside will premiere on Sunday, September 4th at 7pm EST. In the meantime, peep the new trailer below:

Music icon Chaka Khan is itching to get back on the stage after voluntarily entering rehab last month with her sister to help kick her prescription drug addiction.

Now that she has finished her stint in rehab, she’s ready to rock the stage like never before. The Grammy Award winning singer is gearing up for her first post-rehab performance at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta on Friday.

Before she was released from rehab, she chopped it up with MyAJC.com about how excited she is about returning to the stage and her Prince tribute.

Q: Atlanta will be your first show back. Are you itching to get back on the road?

A: Absolutely, you could say that. I’m looking forward to getting back into my groove.

Q: What can fans expect from your live performance?

A: Just a damn good show, as usual. Hopefully I’ll hit everyone’s sweet spot with one song or another. It takes great pains to put a show together. We’re pretty sure that we have a show that will make people happy.

Q: You and Prince were such big influences on each other. Do you plan to pay tribute to him in your show?

A: My tribute to Prince is a private one and a personal one. We did a CD together, “Come 2 My House” (in 1998). We’re working some of that music into my show so I can talk about it and do a little walk through our history.

We’re glad she got the help she needed and is on the road to recovery.

Ray J is finally ready to trek down the aisle and say “I Do” to his fiancée Princess Love. The best part? His big sister Brandy will be performing. More inside…

After some ups and downs and two proposals, “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” stars Ray J and Princess Love are officially tying the knot next week. And Ray’s big sister Brandy is scheduled to perform.

According to TMZ, Ray and Princess are set to trek down the aisle next week, so they’re in wedding planning mode to pull of a fairytale wedding.

Booking a singer for the event was no brainer. Ray’s sister Brandy will reportedly sing Etta James’ “At Last” for the couple first dance. R&B crooner Anthony Hamilton will singer will serenade the audience with his track “The Point of it All” as Princess walks down the aisle to marry her man.

Brandy, who will also serve as a bridesmaid, has been working on her vocals for the big event, sharing a YouTube video where she practices the ‘60s classic in her bathroom.

Dascha Polanco says high end designers won’t style her since she’s not sample size, but she has the perfect solution. She’ll just start her own line. Get the deets and check out Serena Williams’ twerk tutorial video inside…

“Orange Is The New Black” starlet Dascha Polanco seems to be having the same problem comedienne Leslie Jones when it comes to be styled by high end designers. The problem? They’re not sample size and designers shun them away when they reach out to get pieces for events.

The 33-year-old actress spoke with VOGUE magazine about her curvy girl struggle when it comes to getting dresses from luxury designers.

“I understand that it’s business, but still, it’s like, really?,” she said. “My industry friends, who are clear and honest with me say, “Girl, they don’t have your size, and you’re not at that level yet, so you have to either move that way or just build those relationships so that later in the future maybe it happens.”

The mother-of-two shared how she reached out to one designer who she came to love, only to be turned away for not having the “Hollywood” standard body. She revealed:

“I had a situation with a high-end brand the other day where I had personally invested so much money purchasing their items, and I love what they do, so I had my publicist reach out to their PR team. Their response was, ‘Oh, you’re not the sizes we have, not right now, maybe in the future.’”

Since the unnamed brand turned her down, she said if they ever come back and want to work with her, she’s going to turn them down.

“Now even if they want me to [wear their designs] down the road, I will not give them the pleasure. It’s disappointing, but I try to work with up-and-coming designers who will make things for me and who will collaborate with me. People who love my curves and embrace them as much as I do.”

So what does Dascha plan to do? The fashion maven said she’ll just create her own line to cater to all shapes and sizes of women.

“I think that Hollywood-wise, people that have influence have to start making the change and speaking up. This year I’ve been doing a lot of work behind the scenes, as far as fashion goes, just meeting with people, collaborating and brainstorming, because fashion is something I will invest my time in.”

”I’m creative enough, and to be honest with you, I don’t mind work. Now more than before, it’s like, ‘You’re not going to make my shit? Well, I’m going to make my own!’

A1 and his fiancé, singer/songwriter, Lyrica are also new to the cast. This duo has long collaborated side by side in the “industry,” yet their high-maintenance mothers, Lyrica G and Pam, threaten their upcoming wedding plans, as the two vie for control over the young couple’s life.

The season 3 premiere is MONDAY, AUGUST 15th AT 8:00pm EST on VH1.

Jeezy teamed up with his Street Dreamz Foundation to donate 2,500 backpacks full of school supplies to students in need in the Atlanta area on Sunday. The backpacks and supplies will be distributed to students at local Atlanta Elementary schools in the coming weeks. Nice! Jeezy has upped the amount of backpacks for the kids.  He gave out 1,000 last year.

Rapper Lil Jon, music executive Shanti Das (through her Hip Hop Professional Foundation), radio station HOT 107.9 and Walmart all dropped donations in the Backpack Blessings Back-To-School Drive. So, Jeezy and Lil Jon purchased an additional 1,000 backpacks, and there were more donations from sponsors and local participants.

The rumors started when Sarah’s ex-boyfriend, Atlanta photographer Gunner Stahl, posted up a picture laying in bed with Sarah, which he ended up deleting. We hear, he also tagged Jaden’s IG handle in the pic. Messy.

Well, Sarah claims he’s just jealous of her new man, so she clapped back at him on Instagram, writing, “When you little ex is salty you’re in love with your man. Btw thanks for the flowers baby." Hmph. 

A few days ago, Jaden and Sarah were all wrapped up in love at his dad’s Suicide Squad NYC premiere. You can peep all of the PDA action here. It appears she posted this IG post on the night she went to the movie premiere as she has on the same white dress.

A camera ready fan caught the former lovebirds together on Friday night in Chicago. Kehlani was there for Lollapalooza and Kyrie was there for a Team USA basketball game.

Spies on the scene say they were all over each other, smiling and hugging through the streets. And if you look closely, it appears she has on the same outfit in the pics as she does in the IG post.

But, it may not be what it seems. A source tells TMZ Sports that Kyrie and Kehlani are NOT back together, and that they’re only just friends. At least, for now.

The source told the site, "Things ended badly and they hadn't had an opportunity to see each other ... and they wanted to meet up face to face and make peace."

You’ll recall after their break up, Kehlani started getting close with singer PARTYNEXTDOOR. Fans accused Kehlani of cheating and then she attempted suicide. Kyrie did speak out in her defense, revealing they were not together when she was talking to PARTYNEXTDOOR and that he was displeased at the way the Candian singer started all of the controversy.

Hmm…they’re just friends…for now. We’ll be keeping an eye out.

39-Year-Old Kerry Washington is having one of her best years ever.  The Neutrogena Creative Director has her hands in ALL the pots -- from producing and starring in an Emmy nominated HBO biopic to give the world a different view of a berated black woman ("Confirmation"), to starring on ABC's flagship show ("Scandal"), to having titles like said Creative Director and Spokeswoman at major brands (like Movado) to being a wife and mom through it all.

Chick still never misses a beat and a slay on a red carpet.  And we need all the secrets.  The brilliant and beautiful (and unapologetically outspoken and real) actress is dishing about everything going on in the world today, and inside her personal world when it comes to inner peace. She sounds experienced, tried and tested, and inspiringly sure of herself.

Here's a few things we learned from Kerry's cover story about her struggle for inner peace and exuding optimism that had us taking notes:

She gets FOMO thanks to social media (Celebs are just like us!), and she recently had the willpower to cut that ish out for a bit with a hiatus (she's since returned).  "I started to feel overwhelmed, like there was too much noise.  I felt like I had to get back to who Kerry really is....That thing that happens in social media where you're comparing your day or your life or your food or your mood or your kids to somebody else's.  I felt like I needed to create a little more stillness around me."

Pregnancy is liberating for her."There's something about pregnancy," she says, "that willingness to take up more space in the world—that is liberating."

She's taking parenting notes from Shonda Rhimes.  "I consider myself busy," Washington says, "but [Scandal creator and writer] Shonda [Rhimes] has about four of five shows, three kids... She says, 'If you feel like you have just the right amount of help, then you don’t have enough.' My therapist said this too. You need a lot of support. Not just logistically but emotionally and spiritually."

She leans in. "I feel like there is a misconception of this catty, competitiveness between women," says Washington, who recently took part in Sheryl Sandberg's campaign urging women to help each other in the workplace. "That has not been my experience, particularly in Shondaland. My mother is one of seven kids…so I have a lot of strong women in my family, and I have supportive, beautiful relationships with all of them." She's also a grad of N.Y.C's prestigious all-girls Spence School, so she's "always believed in the collective power of women." "Being the one woman in the room should not be seen as a victory," she says. "If there’s only one of us in the room, we’re still a token; we don’t actually have an empowered voice. If there’s two of us, we’re still a minority. If there’s three… then we’re allowed to have a multiplicity of opinions."

She doesn't want to live in a color-blind world. "I don't want to not be African," she says. "The goal is to live in a world where my race doesn’t limit my access, where I can see myself represented in the highest level of society without any limitation."

She feels positive about social change."I choose to feel optimistic, because I don’t think I could get out of bed if I didn’t," she shares. [Yeah, we started clapping with fervor after reading that!]  "The key will be when we stop allowing our otherness to separate us. Whether it’s immigrant’s rights, women’s rights, civil rights, or LGBT rights, we’re all under attack, because none of us belongs to that small group who have held power for a very long time."

She takes time for quiet reflection."You arrive at a certain place of achieving and suddenly you feel like your goals are being dictated by other people," she says. "Right now, as I get ready for this second baby, it’s really about me being in touch with what I want. I didn’t get here because I was trying to be what somebody else wanted me to be… So for now, I’m leaving myself open to the adventure."

"I think wearing sunblock is so important... Sunblock is something I am almost religious about." Plus, the Scandal star is all about healthy skin habits. "I never go to bed without washing my face and I always moisturize."

15-Year-Old Sasha Obama landed her first summer job at Nancy's on Martha's Vineyard (which is super yummy, by the way), and the fab teen has been spotted working the take out window and the register. 

The Boston Herald reports she's using her real name, Natasha, to take orders, bus tables and shell out good eats to the vacationers on the Vineyard.

While the job is quite public, she's extra safe with her six (yes, SIX) secret service men who come to work with her every day.  Every gal needs an entourage afterall.

Sasha's working about four hours a day until Saturday when the rest of her family gets there for their annual summer Vineyard vacay for two weeks.

"She’s been working downstairs at takeout,” said a server at the busy island eatery. “We were wondering why there were six people helping this girl, but then we found out who it was.”

Another server said she's been working there at the take-out window for a few days, and it's been "pretty random."

The Obamas are also good friends with the owner, Joe Moujabber.

First Lady Michelle Obama has said on many occasions that she and President Obama worked hard to make their daughters' lives as normal as possible.  They had to make their beds everyday, work hard in school (Sasha's big sis Malia will be attending Harvard after her gap year), and they're often seen at their fave performers' concerts like Beyoncé and more.

The back and forth and legals battles surrounding K. Michelle's accusations that Memphitz hit her while they were a couple just got bumped to the forefront again.

Well well well.

On tomorrow night's episode of "Marriage Boot Camp," MempHitz submits to a lie detector test to appease his soon-to-be ex-wife Toya Wright.  He's asked the question if he's ever hit a woman, and whether you want to believe the results or not, it's interesting to say the least.

His ex girlfriend K.Michelle tossed out allegations time after time that he was physically abusive to her during their relationship.  The accusations caused many-a-fight between K. and Toya and K. and MempHitz.  Memph filed a defamation suit against K. last year and VH1 where she made the claims on her reality show, but he lost.

Now, during their time on "Marriage Boot Camp," Toya and Memphitz get a scientific answer to whether he's guilty or not.  Check out the answer below:

President Obama turned 55-year-old today!  And he celebrated by conducting business as usual.  Get his powerful essay on what feminism looks like, and epic birthday messages from his wife, bestie VP Biden and more...

It's his last birthday inside the White House.  And we're already shedding a tear or two.  Ugh!

President Barack Obama may be older and tad bit more grey, but he's still the ultimate leader of the new political cool.  And one thing hes been extremely vulnerable about during his Presidency is how much the women in his life -- his wife, daughters and mother-in-law -- mean to him Being surrounded by

ALL women indeed will have an effect on man.  A good effect.

America's dad-in-chief penned an essay for Glamour.com where he gave a candid and personal take on his journey to becoming a feminist himself.  He challenged all men to step up to the plate, because "when everybody is equal, we are all more free."

Here's five quotes from his essay that made us love Mr. President even more:

1. "Gone are the days when you needed a husband to get a credit card. In fact, more women than ever, married or single, are financially independent."

2. "One of my heroines is Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, who was the first African American to run for a major party’s presidential nomination. She once said, “The emotional, sexual, and psychological stereotyping of females begins when the doctor says, ‘It’s a girl.’ ” We know that these stereotypes affect how girls see themselves starting at a very young age, making them feel that if they don’t look or act a certain way, they are somehow less worthy. In fact, gender stereotypes affect all of us, regardless of our gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation."

3. "Michelle and I have raised our daughters to speak up when they see a double standard or feel unfairly judged based on their gender or race—or when they notice that happening to someone else. It’s important for them to see role models out in the world who climb to the highest levels of whatever field they choose."

4.  "And yes, it’s important that [Sasha and Malia's] dad is a feminist, because now that’s what they expect of all men....It is absolutely men’s responsibility to fight sexism too. And as spouses and partners and boyfriends, we need to work hard and be deliberate about creating truly equal relationships.

5.  "Now, the most important people in my life have always been women. I was raised by a single mom, who spent much of her career working to empower women in developing countries. I watched as my grandmother, who helped raise me, worked her way up at a bank only to hit a glass ceiling. I’ve seen how Michelle has balanced the demands of a busy career and raising a family. Like many working mothers, she worried about the expectations and judgments of how she should handle the trade-offs, knowing that few people would question my choices. And the reality was that when our girls were young, I was often away from home serving in the state legislature, while also juggling my teaching responsibilities as a law professor. I can look back now and see that, while I helped out, it was usually on my schedule and on my terms. The burden disproportionately and unfairly fell on Michelle. So I’d like to think that I’ve been pretty aware of the unique challenges women face—it’s what has shaped my own feminism. But I also have to admit that when you’re the father of two daughters, you become even more aware of how gender stereotypes pervade our society. You see the subtle and not-so-subtle social cues transmitted through culture. You feel the enormous pressure girls are under to look and behave and even think a certain way. And those same stereotypes affected my own consciousness as a young man. Growing up without a dad, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out who I was, how the world perceived me, and what kind of man I wanted to be. It’s easy to absorb all kinds of messages from society about masculinity and come to believe that there’s a right way and a wrong way to be a man. But as I got older, I realized that my ideas about being a tough guy or cool guy just weren’t me. They were a manifestation of my youth and insecurity. Life became a lot easier when I simply started being myself."

It's ANOTHER girl for Nate Parker and wife Sarah.  More on the baby news he just dished inside...

Thursday night at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Grants Gala, Birth of a Nation star Nate Parker told media he and his wife just welcomed their fourth daughter into the world. 

He told E! News her name is Justice, and he and Sarah are definitely proud parents.

Nate now has his hands full with a house full of women -- four beautiful daughters and a wife. 

In addition to juggling an expanding home life, Nate is in for a whirlwind awards season.  His upcoming slave revolt movie Birth of a Nation -- which he directs and stars in -- is already getting Oscar buzz and buzz for several other awards as well.

The movie hits theaters this October.

Leave it to Mimi to turn something like the TCA summer tour into a total royal affair.  Or whatever you want to call it...

Mariah Carey was tapped to speak at the “Mariah’s World” panel discussion to promote her new E! docu-series at the 2016 Television Critics Association Summer Tour held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel this week. But, it wasn’t like anything they’ve seen before.

Before she hit the stage, Mimi had waiters flood the ballroom to serve up a glasses of Veuve Clicquot champagne and Compartes chocolate with her name on it to every table in the room. Guests were also treated to her #1 to Infinity CD before she hit the stage.

Following the "pre-show," it was time for Mimi to make her grand entrance. A velvet chaise was placed on the stage, purple lights lit up the stage and then the Elusive Chanteuse singer appeared with six shirtless men to assist her. Of course. She took a seat on one of the men’s backs, then proceed to the chaise to chop it up (and sip it up) about her new E! docu-series. SO Mariah.

While she and her ex-husband Nick Cannon (who's rumored to be dating singer Chilli) have long called it quits, they’re still good friends and seem to be co-parenting quite well. So much so, that he may make an appearance on the show IF he makes the cut. “We are not together anymore, but he’s cool about being on the show and coming around with the kids and very supportive,” she said during the panel.

Her twins Roc and Roe will make a few appearances, but not too much.

When asked how was it being a judge on “American Idol,” she responded,"It was the most abusive situation of my life." She took a sip of champagne and followed up saying,"By the way, you’ve just driven me to drink.” Ha!

Oh, and while she was answering questions on the panel, her glam squad would periodically come out and touch up her hair and makeup. “Anybody else need a touch up? It’s very expensive," she joked.

Along with the TCA panel, here's another “Mariah’s World” sneak peek. Cameras followed the mom-of-two while she trekked along overseas on her “Sweet Sweet Fantasy” tour to give fans an inside sneak peek at her life and what she’s really like behind-the-scenes.

The show will also gives fans a look at how she's planning her super lavish wedding to her billionaire fiance James Packer. Will she have albino elephants and Noah's Ark incorporated in the ceremony? Find out above.

Korryn Gaines was shot and killed by Baltimore police during a standoff in her home. Her 5-year-old son, Kodi Gaines, was shot in the arm during the altercation and now he’s revealing what happened. Get the chilling details inside…

On Monday (August 1st), 23-year-old black mother-of-two Korryn Gaines was shot and killed by police while her 5-year-old son Kodi Gaines was shot in the arm after a hours-long standoff at her Maryland apartment ended in gunfire.

According to reports, three officers with the Baltimore County police arrived at Korryn’s apartment around 9:20 a.m. on Monday to serve warrants to her as well as to a man who also resided there.

Korryn had an arrest warrant issued for failing to appear in court after a traffic violation in March. The man was wanted on an assault charge.

The Washington Post reports that police officers obtained a key to Korryn’s apartment and they found her sitting on the floor with her 5-year-old son wrapped in one of her arms and allegedly a shotgun in her other hand.

The report goes on to say after several hours of negotiation, Korryn allegedly raised the shotgun at officers and allegedly told them she would kill them if they did not leave. That’s when gunfire was exchanged (Korryn reportedly fired two shots), resulting in the death of Korryn and her son getting shot in the arm.

The man who police were serving a warrant to fled the home with a 1-year-old child for whatever reason, but was later taken into custody, according to police.

Now, her son Kodi is speaking out telling the chilling details of what happened the day his mother was killed.

While police reports claim they used a key to get in the apartment, Kodi said they kicked the door down! He said his mother asked him to leave with the man, but he didn’t want to leave her. He also said that the police purposely shot him in the arm.

As pointed out by NY Daily News writer Shaun King, Kodi never said anything about his mother pointing a gun at police and threatening them.

Before Korryn was killed, she posted a series of videos on her Instagram page back in March when she was pulled over by police for driving without a license plate. She told officers she was in the midst of suing the Baltimore Police Department and the Eastern Correctional Institution and that they took the plates off of her car. Her two children were in the car with her and witnessed it.

There has been a lot of talk about why Korryn’s social media accounts were taken down right before police killed her. Baltimore police chief Jim Johnson had this to say during a media conference:

"We did in fact reach out to social media authorities to deactivate her account in order to preserve the integrity of the negotiation process with her and for the safety of our personnel, her child."

Meanwhile, rapper Kevin Gates spoke out about the unfortunate situation where he calls Korryn “a strong black queen” for dying for what she believed in. Check it:

Whether you feel Korryn was right or wrong, it's just unforunate that her son has to live with seeing his mother kiled in front of him. Just a tragic story all around. Our prayers are with Kodi and his family.

While interacting with a fan, the former “CSI” star revealed he and Erica are still getting it in in the bedroom after Erica called him corny.

A fan brought up Erica’s name in a tweet where Bow Wow responded saying he still loves her even though she hates him. The former “Love & Hip Hop: New York” star chimed in, calling him corny and that’s when he revealed they had sex less than two months ago. Oh?

Drake is beefing with Hot 97.  And he had the balls to drag them while on stage in the heart of NYC during his Summer Sixteen tour stop last night.  Today, insults are flying everywhere.  Get it all inside...

The other day, Ebro of Hot 97 went on air to claim he had a "private" convo with Drake at OVOFest this past weekend in Toronto.  The radio host and programming director said he told Drake that Eminem may come for him since he was beefing with Joe Budden, who is/was signed to Slaughterhouse, a part of Shady Records.

Ebro claimed Drake's response was that he "wouldn't do that," but if he did, he'll be ready for him.

The internet took it and ran with it, making a possible Eminem/Drake beef a trending topic and dragging Drake saying he could never beat Em in a battle.

So, fast forward to last night at Madison Square Garden, and Drizzy had some things to say about the matter.

Complex magazine tweeted out that Drake said "F**k Hot 97" during the concert. Al hell broke looke on Twitter after that. However, nobody could confirm he said it. And the only video found of him addressing the matter is the video above. So Complex retracted their statement saying:

After hitting the scene at Comic Con and the Teen Choice Awards, “black•ish” dad Anthony Anderson got cleaned up to hit the carpet before taking his seat on the show's panel.

The cast hit the panel to dish on what's to come in the upcoming third season.

During the panel, “black•ish” creator Kenya Barris opened up about diversity in Hollywood and he’s simply tired of talking about it.

“I will be so happy when diversity is not a word,” said Kenya.

When a reporter asked Kenya what percentage of black people were watching the show, he became a bit frustrated saying,

“It doesn’t matter who’s watching our show. The fact is that they’re watching it. And I feel like every question at every panel…These are amazing, talented actors and amazing writers who give their all and they don’t have to do this. It’s crowding the conversation.”

We agree.

From actress to director!

“Empire” star Gabourey Sidibe is hopping in the director seat for a brand new project. The 33-year-old actress will make her directorial debut for a short film titled A Tale of Four Women in collaboration with Refinery 29.

Gabby is among a dozen female filmmakers who will explore the dynamics of power via the short-form ShatterBox Anthology, which will begin running on the Refinery29 website that’s expected to launch this summer. There aren’t many details about the project, but Gabby has been sharing photos from behind-the-scenes:
