Last night, South African comedian Trevor Noah took control of one of Comedy Central's more iconic shows, "The Daily Show."  Following in the footsteps of Jon Stewart, who hosted the show for 16 years, Noah kicked off his opening monologue with a joke about growing up on the dusty streets of South Africa, where his only two dreams were hosting The Daily Show and having an indoor toilet.

He said,"Now I have both. And I'm quite comfortable with one of them."

He also joked about being the show's black stepfather.  Ha!

Trevor's first guest was comedian Kevin Hart.  During their segment, the "Ride Along 2" star explains why he's a mitch what it feels like to perform in front of 53,000 people during his "What Now" comedy tour.

Nicki Minaj has been given the greenlight for a new comedy series based on her childhood. And she’s set to executive produce and star in the series. Deets inside….

Look out world! Nicki Minaj is putting her acting skills learned at Laguardia High School to use.  She's making major moves on her quest to take over the entertainment world. The Young Money raptress is gearing up to executive produce AND star in a scripted comedy series based on her life growing up in Queens, NY.

The series is set to air on ABC Family, written by “The Bernie Mac Show” writer Kate Angelo and produced by Kapital Entertainment, and the pilot episode will be shot in Nicki’s old neighborhood this winter, according to Deadline.

As you may or may not know, the “Anaconda” raptress was born in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to the U.S. as child. The upcoming series will bring a comedic take on what it was like for her immigrant family to adjust to life in Queens in the 90s.

The “Feeling Myself” rap star is super excited about the project saying,

“This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on. I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”

With credits under her belt such as The Other Woman and the upcoming Barbershop 3 film, Nicki should be a natural in front of the camera.

No word on an official premiere date, but we'll keep you posted.

JoJo Simmons turns 26 today.  And he used his birthday to reveal that he and his girlfriend are expecting!  Get the deets inside...

Well, here's some surprising news.  JoJo Simmons and his makeup artist girlfriend Tanice are pregnant...with a baby girl!

We've learned the two have been dating for over five years, and they are super excited to be first time parents.  JoJo posted the above pic minutes ago saying when the baby is due:

All smiles today on my birthday. Me and @tanice___amira are expecting a baby girl in February. Can't wait to meet my daughter.

Rapper Future has been traveling across the nation on his DS2 tour to promote his solo LP, Dirty Sprite 2. Ciara’s ex has plenty to celebrate as he copped his 2nd No. 1 album this year, following the release of his joint LP with Drake titled What a Time to Be Alive.

The ATL rapper headed out for lunch at Da Silvano restaurant in the West Village with a few friends yesterday afternoon for some delicious Tuscan cuisine.

Later in the evening....

Future hit the stage to perform at the AWXII kick-off concert with DJ Esco providing the tunes.

Next up? Future will hit the stage in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 1st at the Echostage.

Leaving his girlfriend Sarah Snyder behind, actor/entertainer Jaden Smith was spotted trying to keep a low-profile while shopping in SoHo yesterday.

Jaden is currently filming the Netflix original series “The Get Down” in Brooklyn. So whenever he gets some free time, he’s has been doing these #indigomeetups where he and budding ATL musician Raury tweet a random place to meet up asking fans to wear something to run in. Interesting.

We hear the young YBFer has three new projects in the works including a tv series titled "Brothers in Atlanta," a film titled The Good Lord Bird and he's supposedly reprising his role as Dre Parker in The Karate Kid 2.

We're pretty clear that Grace Jones IS NOT one of Kim Kardashian's 35 million Twitter followers.  She doesn't find her interesting.  Or impressive.  In fact, she calls her "basic" in her new bio.  More inside.....

Today, living legend/icon Grace Jones heads into book stores with her autobiography, "Ill Never Write My Memoirs", where she recounts stories of an abusive childhood in Jamaica, modeling in Paris with Jerry Hall, doing drugs at Studio 54 and being one of the first Black women to land a leading role in a "Bond" film. 

Throughout the candid book, Miss Grace Jones does not hold back her feelings when it comes to the numerous pop starlets who've followed in her footsteps (without giving her proper credit).  In a previous post, we reprinted an except where Grace SPRAYED everyone including Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce and the biggest culprit, Lady Gaga.

Now that the book is in stores, we've learned that Kim Kardashian got sprayed too.  In fact, Grace used the word "basic".

Remember when Kim allegedly broke the internet by showing us her T&A (again)?  Grace was unimpressed.  Mainly because Grace broke the "art galleries" with an almost exact shoot back in the late 70's with the same photographer Kim used, the famed Jean Paul Goude.

Grace and Jean Paul are ex-lovers and they share a son together.  It seems Grace was a bit P.O.'d that he would compromise his artistic integrity and work with Kim....recreating ish he'd ALREADY created.  Where's the "art" in that?  Here's what she says in her book,

“When he took a photograph of Kim Kardashian with a champagne glass perched on her ass in an impossible pose like the ones he did with me over thirty-five years ago, I asked him why he was giving her – a basic commercial product – his ideas? This seemed to contradict his spirit of integrity, which he has protected for so long. Why was he repeating himself, just to give her a little flare of publicity, quickly absorbed by the next puff of self-promotion?”

Well, he replied, ‘I got the feeling that if I didn’t do that photograph, she would have simply copied the idea anyway. I might as well copy myself.’ His ideas are are so powerful that repeating them decades later still causes a hell of a fuss, however temporary...He might have done it to wind me up a little as well. Which he did."

"Ill Never Write My Memoirs" hits bookstores today.  By the way, Kanye and Kim's reported due date for their second child is December 25th, Christmas Day.

Despite growing up wealthy and privileged in Hollywood, LL Cool J's 26-year-old is still on that ratchet ish.  Find out why he got arrested in NYC early this morning inside...

Although his father is one of the most beloved Black men in White America, Najee Smith, the son of "NCIS: Los Angeles" star LL Cool J, started the week off in handcuffs and behind bars.  Why?  We'll explain....

The buff heir to the throne spent the weekend in NYC celebrating his birthday, which culminated into a party on Monday night and into the wee hours of this morning at Meatpacking District hotspot Catch. According to eyewitnesses, Najee was quite lubricated at the hotspot where bottles start at $400.

He was allegedly drunk boots...and was asked to leave the club by security guards, BUT he refused. When security began to escort him out, he went all "Mama Said Knock You Out" and started fighting the whole security team. The brawl led to NYPD involvement - who promptly arrested him because they rarely care if your daddy is on CBS.

As of today, our sources tell us he is still being held by police and waiting arraignment. He's been charged with criminal trespassing.

Now.....you know damn well LL Cool J AND Mama Simone could make a phone call from Beverly Hills and have him released immediately. Maybe they're trying to teach him a lesson about acting the fool in these streets?  Tsk Tsk.

Tamera Mowry Housley is opening up about life as a mom for the 2nd time around and why black actresses should be the considered the norm rather than a trend. Get into her thoughts inside…

Actress-turned-talk show host Tamera Mowry Housley is living on cloud 9 these days. Her career is flourishing, hosting on daytime talk show “The Real” with four other fab chicks. Meanwhile, her personal life is just as fulfilling. She has been happily married to her husband Adam Housley for 4 years, she became a first time mom in November 2012 after giving birth to her son Aden and now she’s a mom twice over after welcoming a baby girl Ariah into the world this past July.

In a new interview with mom.me, the 37-year-old mom/actress gushes over how much fun she’s having dressing up her new bundle of joy. She also talks about the difference between her and sister Tia Mowry Hardrict’s parenting styles, how supportive her co-hosts have been during her pregnancy journey and why black actresses (or any woman of color), such as Viola Davis, should be what’s ultimately accepted in society and not being considered a “trend.”

On her favorite part of having a little girl:"I'd be lying to myself if I didn't say I love dressing her up. I have so much fun with girl clothes. (Ariah is pictured below right.) There are so many more options than boys' clothes. There are great boys' clothes out there, but you have to become a lot more creative, whereas with girls' clothes, the sky is the limit."

On Viola Davis' history-making Emmy win, especially being an African-American actress:"I am so inspired as an actress. Being in the business — I have been in the business for a long time and see that it's difficult. Yes, people are really loving African-American actresses, which is amazing. However, I want to get to a place where it's not a trend, where we're all just actresses. I love that we are appreciating the beauty and the skill and the talent of our African-American colleagues, and I just pray and hope that it's more than just a trend — that it's the face of the future. That all women of color — whether you're black, white, yellow, brown, purple — we all have a chance to win and have amazing opportunities."

On juggling parenthood with two small children, co-hosting "The Real" and other projects:

"I just had a conversation with my girls (at "The Real"). It was hysterical, because normally during lunch we all have our private girl chats. They're so great because I have to pump every lunch break and I'm sitting there, with my pump and my bra — and they're just so open and so comforting.

["The Real" co-host] Jeannie [Mai] said the cutest thing. At first, she was like, "Oh my God, this weirds me out a little bit, I have to be honest." But I did mention, "Guys, I'm really trying to find the balance. I feel like I somewhat had an idea of what balance was with my son, but I have to learn new balance.""

I think what I'm learning right now is to just prioritize each day, each moment."

On her and her sister Tia Mowry-Hardrict's different parenting styles and advice to other parents:

"Do what's right for you and your family, and that's what I have learned as I've gotten older and met with other moms. I've learned that everybody has their different parenting styles, but there's one thing we all have in common, and that is take care of that child the best way we know how. To give that child love, and that's what I focus on with my friends. I don't so much focus on how different our parenting styles are. It's the thing that we all have in common, and each family has different needs.

I have a little girl now, a newborn, and I'm exclusively nursing, so for me, I have to keep her on a schedule. But I'm actually not 100 percent traditional. I do the attachment style with the carrier. I love carrying my baby. I love the bond that I have with her. I'm so grateful for my job that I'm able to bring her to work, and I just feel so blessed to be able to have her with me all the time."

There are new developments in the case against Derrick Rose after he and his friends allegedly gang raped a woman inside of her apartment. We've also learned the NBA star suffered another injury during practice today! Get the latest inside…

We have new developments in the gang rape case against Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose. A few weeks ago, we told you an anonymous woman who we’ll call “Jane Doe” filed a lawsuit against the NBA baller accusing him and his friends.  She alleged that in 2013 they drugged her, broke into her L.A. apartment and then gang raped her while she was passed out.

The Bulls' star has presumed his innocence releasing a statement to refute the claims, and now he's filing legal docs in his defense. Derrick claims she's telling a lie and that she gave them consent to have sex. Matter of fact, she was one who allegedly buzzed them into her apartment to do so. TMZ got a hold of new court documents filed by Derrick that claim “Jane Doe” consented to sexual interactions on the day in question AND she also invited the defendants into her apartment.

The court docs also reveal the alleged victim met up with a friend the next day for a cup of coffee and went to work for a full shift. He’s hoping this would prove that she wasn’t victimized like she claims, despite the fact that rape victims all handle the situation differently

Oh…and get this. Derrick even offers up an interesting reason as to WHY she decided to press charges. He reportedly did not reimburse her for one of the sex toys used that night and he started ignoring her texts. He believes this set her off and caused her to take legal action.

She’s seeking unspecified damages.

Meanwhile, Derrick doesn’t seem to be letting this situation get to him. He’s still active on his social media accounts. Last week, he was spotted attending/supporting his baby's mother Mieka during New York Fashion Week along with their son PJ.

In basketball news....

More bad news for Derrick Rose!

The point guard has suffered yet another injury on the court today that will require surgery. And there’s not an inkling as to when he’ll return to the court.

During the first day of training camp, Derrick was struck in the face by an elbow, which resulted in a left orbital fracture. It's rumored Bulls power forward Taj Gibson may have been the one who caused the injury. Yikes. Derrick is expected to undergo surgery tomorrow morning.

ESPN breaks down Derrick's lengthy injury record, reporting:

A timetable for his return will not be known until after the surgery, the Bulls said. They will provide an update at that time. The orbital fracture is the latest in a long line of health issues for the 2010-11 MVP. He tore the ACL in his left knee in April 2012 and missed the 2012-13 season.

He then tore the medial meniscus in his right knee in November 2013 and missed the rest of the 2013-14 season. Rose also had a meniscectomy on his right knee in February and missed 31 regular-season games during the 2014-15 season. In total, Rose has played in just 100 regular-season games since the beginning of the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season.

Totally not his year.

As Chris Brown waits for travel visa approval, he wants the folks in Australia to know he'd be a great spokesperson to talk about domestic violence.  See his tweets inside and check out Sanaa Lathan allegedly rocking French Montana's chain.

We've been following Chris Brown's saga with Australia for a few weeks now and Chris just made the most intelligent argument for getting his Visa. 

In case you missed it, Chris (shown with his daughter Royalty in their latest pic) would like to take his "One Hell Of A Night" tour to the land down under in December, but the natives are in a tiff about his 2009 conviction for brutally attacking Rihanna.  By the way, his management says he's been to the continent twice since 2009, but that's beside the point.

The position of some higher ups in Australian cities is that granting him a VISA to perform is almost like condoning domestic violence.  Chris disagrees. In fact, he thinks granting him a VISA would show that a man is not his past mistakes and he'd be a great advocate to speak to the youth about his past transgressions.  He tweeted,

For what it worth...Chris makes a good point.  He has a "captive" audience and kids do listen to him.  Would the Australian government reach more kids through Chris Brown than the alternative?

In other news....

So ya'll remember when Sanaa Lathan was all drunk boots on French Montana's lap after the club?  We were scratching our heads and trying to figure out "Is the hook-up real?" or nah.

We still don't know....but because we stalk both of their Instagrams, we noticed that Sanaa may be rocking one of French Montana's chains.  See the pic above....

Well.....how do we know that it's French's chain?  We're pretty sure Sanaa didn't have that -ish made on Rodeo Drive by her favorite jeweler....so let's assume it's a gift. 

As for whether they're actually smashing, there are two ways folks in the hood show their love: Tattoos and gold chains. If Sanaa is happy...we're happy. But please don't get that man's name inked on you ANYWHERE!

First Lady Michelle Obama served up some golden nuggets to young girls as she hosted an educational panel in NYC today. Meanwhile, Mariah Carey has teamed up with MAC Cosmetics for a new lippie collection just in time for Christmas. More inside….

First Lady Michelle Obama is on a mission to educate young girls all around the world with her “Let Girls Learn” initiative. To keep the ball rolling, FLOTUS took the stage at the Apollo Theater today to co-host “The Power Of An Educated Girl” panel along with Hollywood starlet/ U.N. Messenger Charlize Theron, who is also the founder of the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project.

During her speech, our First Lady offered up some serious advice before 1,000 schoolgirls and young women, inspiring them to compete with the boys and reminding them they can do anything a boy can do...or even better.

Not only that, she reminded the young ladies to keep their mind on the books…and NOT on getting boys' attention. She said,

"There is no boy at this age that is cute enough or interesting enough to stop you from getting your education. Look, if I had worried about who liked me and who thought I was cute at your age, I wouldn't be married to the President of the United States today."

Preach FLOTUS! Loves all of this and more.

In an interview with PopSugar, the iconic singer dished on her upcoming collection revealing how she came up with "All I Want" and how the collaboration with MAC came about. Below are the highlights:

POPSUGAR: How did you pick this particular name for the lipstick? You have so many songs to choose from.

Mariah Carey: Well, I wanted something different for the holidays. It’s not a red lip; it’s actually a champagne shimmer with a frost texture. I wanted to go away from the typical red lip that everybody usually does for Christmas. It’s really beautiful. "All I Want" is such an evergreen song for me, and it’s a natural name for the lipstick.

PS: It’s such a major song — I know people who listen to it in July! Did you have any idea that it was going to be such a huge hit?

MC: No, I really didn’t! I was writing it in this little, tiny room with a little keyboard by myself years ago, and then I just sang it. It was a process, but I was sitting in the middle of Summer with Christmas trees in the room having fun. I never knew it would be one of my most famous songs. Here we are, all this time later. Every year I hear it, and it actually makes me really happy. It makes me happier to hear than any of my other songs because I love Christmas so much.

PS: Let’s talk about the shimmery nude color.

MC: Well I’ve always loved the frosty lip for Winter, because I think it blends in with the tone of the season. Even growing up, [the shade is] something that I would gravitate towards. I don’t look good in a red lip, and I wanted to be able to wear the color. I know a lot of people who don’t care for red lipstick, either. We ended up going with this really beautiful champagne shimmer.

PS: Sounds lovely. That shimmery lip texture feels like a throwback to those ‘90s MAC lipsticks.

MC: Even a throwback to ones from before that. It’s something that I’ve always loved, that color. So it is sort of a throwback, but I think it’s going to feel modern, too.

PS: How did this collaboration with MAC come to be?

MC: I’ve been a huge fan of MAC Cosmetics for forever, and it’s been my go-to makeup for stage and off-stage. I don’t keep that much makeup on me, but there are a couple of MAC colors that I really love and that I’ve been loyal to for years. MAC is great because it’s an inclusive brand. They have a long history of diverse collaborations, and I’m a different-looking person. When I say different, I mean I’m an ambiguous-looking person. Most people have a difficult time being like, "What is she?" This is going to be something that a lot of different people will be able to feel like they can wear, and it will look good on them because I kept that in mind when we were working on it.

In mogul moves, we've got 50 Cent closing a new deal with Starz and Jay Z celebrating a milestone for TIDAL.  More inside...

50 Cent just made a huge deal with Starz. How do we know?  The camera-shy, non-publicity seeking rapper quietly posted an announcement on Instagram (side-eye).  He captioned, "Watch what I do now, yall think I'm out here playing around. I'm getting it done trust me."

Mr. Show Off has signed a two-year exclusive premium television pact with Starz, the network he helped bring to prominence with his drama series “Power.”

What does that mean?

Like the deal "blackish" creator Kenya Barris just signed with ABC, it allows 50 Cent to develop new projects for the network through his G Unit Film & Television, Inc.

It doesn't necessarily mean every show he pitches will make it on air though. The only person we think has it going on like that is Shonda Rhimes.

In a statement from the network, 50 said,

“Starz has been the perfect partner to make ‘Power’ the success that it is and I am looking forward to developing many more record-breaking series with them.”

Carmi Zlotnik, managing director of Starz, added, “Curtis is a wonderful hands-on producer and actor on ‘Power’ and we look forward to expanding his roles behind-the-camera with Starz over the next two years."

FYI - Starz was so happy with season 2 of "Power" that they ordered 10-episodes for season 3 and production began earlier this month at the series’ home base at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn.
 

In other mogul moves...

It looks like Jay Z is having the last laugh.  When he launched TIDAL a few months ago, people threw him major shade and questioned why folks would pay for stuff they could see on Youtube for free.  Well.... folks are paying and subscribing, so it works for them.  In fact, he's gone Platinum...so to speak.

He announced via Twitter that TIDAL has reached 1 million subscribers.

Notice the last line? “Let’s celebrate 10/20 Brooklyn.” While no further details have been disclosed, it looks like there's another concert headed to BK for TIDAL users....

In YBF Kids news, Willow Smith will be the newest member of the IT-Girl model clique soon.  The singer/actress/heiress to the Smith entertainment throne just signed her first modeling contract with The Society Agency.

The Society Agency, nased in NYC, also reps Kendall Jenner, Adriana Lima and more.

According to the agency's Twitter, they are now representing the 14-year-old and her model aspirations:

She's already covered plenty of fashion mags and been featured in designer campaigns, so it'll be interesting to see how much further she can go with her agency. Congrats Willow!

Ciara and Russell Wilson have returned to the Seattle Children’s Hospital to put a smile on a few kiddies’ faces. Peep their do-gooder pics inside….

Since Ciara considers Seattle home now, we’ll be seeing more of the R&B diva in the city. After cheering on her man, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, to a win while in the VIP box on Sunday, CiCi and her boo got into the do-gooder spirit for Russell’s weekly hospital visit yesterday.

The duo has made visits to the hospital together a few times now and it looks to be a new tradition in their budding relationship. The Cavalli model and the Super Bowl champ visited one young man on his birthday, making his big day extra special. CiCi captioned, "Happy Birthday Jim! You Should Think About Being A Comedian. You Definitely Made Our Hearts Laugh".

We love it!

Gorgeous actress and philanthropist Jada Pinkett Smith has jetted overseas to check out the latest fashion designs being presented at Paris Fashion Week. The 44-year-old star popped up at the Guy Laroche womenswear Spring/Summer 2016 show yesterday looking like golden goodness. 

The hot mom styled it up in a gold and black long sleeved pencil dress cinched at the waist with a leather belt. The back of the dress featured a keyhole cut for an added bit of sexiness.

Chick just gets it.

As she exited the show, she was met by a gob of fans and photogs all fighting to get the perfect shot.

Actress Demetria McKinney and Grammy-winner Kandi Burruss premiered their video for "Unnecessary Trouble" to a select group of ATL residents last night.  See pics inside...

Last night in Atlanta, friends and reality stars Demetria McKinney & Kandi Burruss threw a party at Time Restaurant to celebrate the premiere of the video for their single"Unnecessary Trouble."

The arrivals....

Demetria, an accomplished actress who starred for many years on "House Of Payne", is late to game in terms putting her foot in the R&B world, but we've been following her foray (she recently worked with Anthony Hamilton) and the girl can SANG!  Don't sleep...

She attended with her longtime boyfriend (and biggest supporter) Roger Bobb.

Demetria is putting the finally touches on her upcoming album which is being executive produced by a very pregnant Kandi Burruss.

The party served as a forum to premiere the video for the Demetria/Kandi collab "Unnecessary Trouble" which Kandi wrote.  The single is one of a few tracks that Kandi specifically wrote for Demetria's project.  Y'all know Kandi always "helps out" the Housewives when it comes to their music.

Kandi attended with her husband Todd Tucker. We see you Todd.....waves on fleek!

By the way....Kandi is so pretty!

The festivities also brought out the cast of "RHOA."  We spotted Porsha Williams showing off her flawless abs.  If you caught the RHOA trailer yesterday (see it here) you already know that Porsha wants a baby! So she's flaunting those abs as much as she can now.

Phaedra Parks stepped out in her fringe!  She's also looking for love this season!

We already told you that actress Kim Fields would be holding a peach this season.

Kim, who arrived with her husband Christopher Morgan, seems like she'll be the voice of reason this year.

And Kenya Moore -- who's in a class all by herself -- was on the scene too. 

Who's that with Kenya?  It's transgender model Amiyah Scott.  She's rumored to make a big splash this season and if she's friends with Kenya.....we can only imagine!

Celebs are hard at work on tv show sets and beyond.  We've got LL Cool J, Mike Epps, Queen Latifah and Viola Davis doing what they do best - entertain and inform!  See what they were up to inside...

We spotted buff heartthrob LL COOL J on the LA-based set of his hit CBS series "NCIS" yesterday with co-star Chris O'Donnell.  It was his first day at work since his son Najee Smith made national news for getting arrested across the country after a brawl with a group of NYC bouncers.  

What's the update?  Najee was arraigned on Tuesday and has been charged with criminal trespassing.  He was released without bail.

In Universal City, California...  

We spotted funnyman turned serious actor Mike Epps heading to a taping of "Extra."

Mike, who chatted it up with correspondent Charissa Thompson, had a slew of products to promote.He's currently starring on STARZ series "Survivor's Remorse," he'll star in the upcoming ABC reboot of "Uncle Buck" (coming later this fall) and he's also starring as Richard Pryor in Lee Daniels' forthcoming biopic. 

In NYC....

Emmy-winning producer Queen Latifah (her Flavor Unit team took home the award for Bessie) was spotted at the offices of HuffPost Livei where she went to promote the American Heart Association and to speak out about the risks associated with heart failure.  It's a subject close to her heart because her beloved mom, Rita Owens, developed the disease 11 years ago. 

In a recent talk with PEOPLE, Latifah explained how her mom's diagnosis changed their relationship. "We've gotten a lot closer and we've learned each other on a whole different, deeper level. I will do whatever I can to make sure my mom is comfortable and has whatever she needs."

In Hollywood...

We spotted Emmy-winner Viola Davis right before she got hit by a bus.  Ummm......we'll explain that later.  Viola appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last night where she discussed becoming the first African-American woman to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for HTGAWM, and spilled the deets on her Harriet Tubman quote (p.s. she's producing an HBO bio pic on Harriet as well).

She told Jimmy,

“I did prepare that. Now there were two quotes I could go with. I said, ‘If I go with the Harriet Tubman, they may think it’s militant. Or I could go with the other quote, but they may be confused. Let me go militant,’” she jokes.

Now...back to the bus.  Jimmy thought it'd be funny to watch Viola get hit by a bus (to demonstrate the dangers of walking while texting).  This "joke" is a little unsettling; but, see what you think...

If you’re a fan of Mya and her music, you’ll be happy to hear the YBF chick is gearing up to release some new music. That’s right. Mya is bringing some new tunes to follow up her Love Elevation Suite EP, which dropped earlier this year.

Yep, she's still attempting this music thing.

The Grammy Award winning songstress is set to release a brand new single titled “Welcome To My World,” and it’s set to be released next week on October 10th via iTunes. Making it extra special, Mya will also be celebrating her 36th birthday that day.

In addition to her new musical offering, the 35-year-old songstress put her best model foot forward in a new photoshoot shot by Michael Freeby. Behind the scenes, Gioia’s Room provided the threads, Taryn Feldt made sure her face was beat to perfection and Dezmond Wooden smoked her wig for the gorgeous editorials.

If you haven’t heard, Mya is also currently on tour making her rounds in Australia, Asia and North America. Her next stop will be at the 340 Night Club in Pomona, CA on Oct. 3rd.

Are you ready for "More Soul Food?"  We've received word that there's a planned revival of the beloved movie turned tv series.  Get deets on the re-up inside...

MaDea aka Big Mama aka Grandma (or inset your family matriarch's name) is in the kitchen heating up the stove again for a reboot of one of Black America's more beloved series, Soul Food.

Back in 1997, when Hollywood first began to recognize the power of Black cinema, Vanessa Williams, Vivica Fox and Nia Long (atop) teamed up for what would go on to become a beloved film about Black family love.  The phenomenal success of the film who leaded to a cable television spin off for SHOWTIME starring Boris Kodjoe & Nicole Ari Parker (who met on set), Darrin Dewitt Henson, Rockmond Dunbar, Malinda Williams and the "other" Vanessa Williams.  Now, we've learned that the series will be reboot.

According to THR, movie studio Fox 2000 is planning a sequel called More Soul Food, based on the 1997 ensemble film.

George Tillman Jr., who wrote and directed the original, is writing the new script with Nathan Skulnik. George will also reconnect with the films original producers Tracey and Babyface Edmonds.

The film, earned $43.7 million (huge at the time) while the Showtime TV series aired from 2000 through 2004.

While a synopsis has not been released, THR says the sequel will chronicle the new, millennial generation of the Joseph family who all have to deal with cell phones, social media and finding ways to remain connected in in the ways the elders of the family once held it together.

So far....there's no word on if any of the movie/tv stars will be invited to reprise their roles.

Yep, this again.  Rapper Nelly performed with Taylor Swift during her 1989 World Tour along with the group Haim.  See pics and video inside and find out about the upcoming Barclays Concert featuring Jay, Bey and Nicki Minaj.

Taylor Swift is criss-crossing North America with her 1989 World Tour and in case you didn't know, she likes to spice it up for the kids by bringing out some of her favorite artists.  This week, she landed in St. Louis.  Take a guess on who she invited on her stage...Nelly.  And the suburban kids went in!  When he hit that stage and performed "Hot In Herre" with Taylor's besties (the band HAIM), it was pure pandemonium.

And to top it all off, HAIM and Taylor Swift made up a dance in their dressing room which they performed on stage. Of course.   Nelly also performed his latest, "The Fix" and Taylor sang the hook.

In other concert news....

Recently, as one of Jay Z's Twitter followers, we celebrated with him when his TIDAL group cross the threshold and claims 1 million subscribers.  "Subscriber" success has been a long time coming for the rapper and it finally looks like things are turning around.  

To celebrate the success, Jay and his celebrity friends are throwing a concert!  Obvi.  It's gonna be called Tidal X: 1020 and will take place on Oct. 20th at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

Do you want to know who is on-board? Jay Z, Beyonce, Prince, Nicki Minaj, Usher, Justine Skye, Lil Wayne, T.I., Fabolous, Thomas Rhett, Damien Marley, Indochine, and Hit-Boy.

Hello Gorgeous!  Upcoming Spectre starlet Naomie Harris is gearing up to hit the big screen in one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year. But before she reprises her role as Eve Moneypenny in front of the camera, she linked up with Cosmopolitan UK to shoot a fabulous cover spread for their November 2015 issue.

And it’s red hot! Werk!

In the cover story, the 39-year-old actress opened up saying she believes it’s possible to be both a feminist AND a Bond Girl in the world of 007 with the advancement of women today. She said, “I think you absolutely can now [be a feminist and a Bond girl].”

She credits Spectre’s director Sam Mendes for recruiting strong “multidimensional women” to star in the flick, which she feels further proves women’s roles in Hollywood are changing to more substantial roles.

We're drooling over this dress by the way.

The Hollywood starlet also talked about how hard it is for women to get good, well-written roles in Hollywood against their male counterparts. She dished,

"It's very difficult to find roles as well-written as male ones, and with as much screen time. Then there's one amazing script that sparks your imagination, and gets you really excited. They are there, it's just they're mostly dominated by male roles.

"I definitely think it's tougher for women in film, but then I look at Meryl Streep, and... I thought there would be other actresses breaking through. I'm sure there are. Jennifer Aniston, I guess? But she's comedic.

"Yeah, perhaps there is a glass ceiling. I'm really struggling to think of women who can consistently open movies. OK, Reese Witherspoon! There are women doing it, but yeah, it's harder."

Agreed. And even harder for a black woman in Hollywood, but Naomie seems to be navigating the ranks.

In weight loss news....

We've noticed a major change in Shonda Rhimes.  And now, we know how she did it.

The #TGIT honcho has a new trim and slim bod and she's dishing on how she achieved the massive weight loss of 117 pounds!

EXTRA caught up with the ShondaLand producer at the ABC’s TGIT line-up celebration in Hollywood over the weekend (above right) where Shonda gave the inside scoop on how she dropped all those LBs. Her secret? Good old fashion diet and exercise. She spilled,

"I just decided I was gonna get it together and get healthy; I have some little kids and I want to be around for them. I changed everything I ate — and I hated all of that — and then I hate exercising and I did that, too, and I hated it the whole time.”

Ha! Almost any woman can relate. While she's making healthier eating decisions, Shonda said she still eats what she wants, just in smaller portions to make sure she keeps her calories in check.“I try to make it much less and smaller portions, but you change what your palate wants. I'm suddenly craving fish and salad,” said Ms. Rhimes.

Congrats Shonda! You’re looking FAB-U-LOUS!
