The season 5 promo for "Scandal" dropped earlier today and we're sure it's going to be controversial.  Watch it inside...

It's not really an "elephant" in the room anymore, but let's face facts, single black female Olivia Pope is still running behind the married President on "Scandal."  Sure...he's the most powerful man in the world....but Mellie's got him on lock.  Or does she?

Now, after four years of those pouty quivering lips and caught-in-a-headlight eyes, it looks like Olivia is finally going to get her man.  So how do we feel about it?

Shonda Rhimes is stirring the pot in the new "Scandal" promo.  At some point, Olivia (ranting about her uncontrollable emotions) looks at Fitz and says, "You Own Me."  PAUSE.  We understand Olivia is speaking from an emotional standpoint...but damn Ms. Rhimes.  Y'all know those racial undertones are tricky.  But to be fair, Fitz does reply, "You Own Me," right back at her.  

We can already see this season is going be a hot bed of controversy...and that's how we like it!

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker are over the moon they’re pregnant with their first childtogether!

The soon-to-be parents (again) sat down with E! to spill some sweet baby details about their upcoming arrival. Trying to get pregnant wasn’t an easy task for the Tuckers, who wed in April 2014. Kandi, 39, suffers from uterine fibroids, so she had to undergo IVF treatments to assist with getting pregnant.

SIDEBAR—Statistics show black women are three times more likely to develop uterine fibroids than white women.

The Tuckers are about 4 months along, with a due date for their new baby set in January. As far as cravings? Kandi said she hasn’t had any as of late and that, so far, this pregnancy has been pretty easy.

The happy couple revealed they are hoping for a baby boy as Todd is the only man in the house right now. They have have teenage daughters, Riley Burruss and Kaela Tucker, from previous relationships.

Once she and Todd found out they were having a little one, they thought they would surprise their friends and family in a special way, including her co-stars Cynthia Bailey, Kenya Moore, Phaedra Parks and Porsha Williams.
 

The mom-to-be invited everyone to see performances by two teen groups she’s working with…a band called “Loud” and singing group “Glamour.” They have a song they perform called “Heir to the Throne,” so the song was set up for Kandi and Todd to come out and announce, “Hey, we have an heir to the throne coming!” Aww…

She said all of her friends are extremely happy for them because they know how long they have been trying to get pregnant. And guess who else was surprisingly supportive? Mama Joyce!

When asked Mama Joyce’s reaction Todd said, “Mama Joyce She was very supportive.” Shocker.

Mama Joyce seems to have buried the bone she had with Kandi’s bestie Carmon. They snapped a pic together which Kandi posted and captioned, “Late post from weds. night. We have come a long way to have @mamajjoyce & @camcambi taking pics together. #JesusFixedIt Lol! Just in time before #BabyTucker gets here." Well good for them.

In legal woes...

To say 50 Cent is pissed is likely an understatement. Today, a Manhattan jury decided Fif (who was not present in court) should pay Rick Ross’ baby's mother Lastonia Leviston an extra $2 million on top of the $5 million he already owes her after she sued the Hip Hop mogul for posting a sex tape of her on his social media without her consent.

The “Power” star and producer tried his damndest to keep from coughing up the $5 million in punitive damages, claiming the rockstar lifestyle he seems to live online is all smoke and mirrors. Mmhmm.  He filed for Chapter 11 days after the official ruling. But, it appears his antics worked against him this time.

After the trial, Lastonia spoke with reporters saying,

"I've been served justice by the courts and vindicated by God.” She added, "I hope he learned a lesson."

According to the NY Daily News, Lastonia and her lawyer requested $15 million in punitive damages while 50’s lawyer gave an offer of $700k.

One juror, Sylvia Rodriguez, said during Fif’s testimony on Tuesday, he didn’t seem to take it seriously.  He was winking at the jurors and at one point ran out of the courtroom. He didn’t seem apologetic enough for the jurors, so they socked it to him.

Lastonia also responded to 50’s weak apology,

"That wasn't an apology. That was an insult," she said.

But 50 still isn’t going out without a fight. Now, 50’s lawyer James Renard said they will file another motion to have the amount lowered. He told the media,

“Although we appreciate the jury's service, we are disappointed in the result. Our client intends to file post-verdict, pre-judgment motions which we believe should reduce the size of the award."

So far, 50 hasn't addressed the ruling. Let’s hope he's learned his lesson.

The commenter is Assumption College wide receiver Sam Blake. He hopped in Odell’s comments to reaffirm it's not the NFLer in the NSFW pic, it’s actually him. And he’ll do whatever he has to do to clear Odell’s name. And Odell wrote back thanking him.  Peep their conversation below:

In music news...

Artist Quentin Miller gained much media attention this week after Meek Mill went on a Twitter rant about Drake having a ghostwriter. The Philly native went on to name-drop Quentin as the one who write Drizzy’s lyrics.

The Canadian rapper sent a subliminal response, basically brushing it off. And now Quentin is speaking up.

In a Tumblr posting, he talks about the first time he met the "6 God" and how Drizzy is a master at creating songs. He said Drizzy's If You're Reading This It's Too Late was already completed before he came into the mix (although that doesn't explain Drake's verse on Meek's "R.I.C.O." that he claims was ghostwritten). He also touched on how exactly would he be consider a "ghostwriter" when his name is in the credits.

He wrote:

Winter 2014… I was just another guy working a job he hated with a passion for music…. And somehow found myself on the phone with One of my idols..

i told him i worked in a bakery and his exact words were “Fuck that, your destined for greatness"…

Hearing that from someone that I’ve been studying since 2009, bar for bar…. Theres no way to describe that..

Most of the project was done before i came in the picture.. i remember him playing it for me for the first time thinking "Why am I here?” like.. what does he need me for??

The answer is.. Nothing…

I watched this man piece together words in front of me…

When nobody would pay attention, drake saw something in me and reached out… Of all people… drizzy..

Two artist in exact opposite spaces in their career.. We came together and made something special..

I am not and never will be a “ghostwriter” for drake.. Im proud to say that we’ve collaborated .. but i could never take credit for anything other than the few songs we worked on together ..

Despite the naysayers, Karrueche Tran is determined to make it in Hollywood.  While most people have had their doubts about KT's talent or ability to survive without a high-profile boyfriend attached to her name, she's consistently found work and seems to be making her acting dreams come true.  Not sure how long the novelty of her former relationship will last, but she's twerking it for what it is.

Recently, she posed for the latest issue of FLAUNT Magazine (the Summer Camp Issue) where she models high-end denim. The black-and-white pictorial was shot at Milk Studios in LA by Brian Higbee.

Karrueche also put her acting skills to use in the magazine's short film PRXDE.  Under the direction of Yosef Day, Kae stars a a boxer who makes her living by "throwing" her fights. SIDEBAR - We think her opponent was styled to look like Rihanna from the Good Girl Gone Bad era....but we could be reaching.

Fans of Karrueche can catch more of her acting skills this weekend.  On Sunday, she stars in 3 Headed Shark Attack on the Syfy Channel, at 3pmET.

The cast of "Straight Outta Compton" continued their promo tour across North America with a VIP screening that brought out chart-toppers Usher and Ludacris. More inside...

Following positive reviews in Detroit, the cast of Straight Outta Compton booked a few flights and headed to Atlanta for a Q-N-A and private screening at the Regal Atlantic Station....just hours after they made an appearance in Miami. Ice Cube and his son O'shea Jackson led the discussion...

While the Detroit showing brought out Big Sean, the ATL screening had several heavy hitters sitting alongside director F. Gary Gray and the cast.

In addition to the cast and crew (O'Shea Jackson Jr., F. Gary Gray, Ice Cube, Jason Mitchell, and Corey Hawkins) we spotted Usher, Ludacris, Mayor Kasim Reed and director Will Packer.

We've just learned that Usher will appear on an upcoming episode of "Oprah's Masterclass".  He taped the segment three days ago.  It'll be interesting to see the lessons he's learned from his first marriage and divorce.

It looks like Luda enjoyed the movie.  We peeped him congratulating Ice Cube.

Da Brat, who recently signed on for the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, was on hand to support the cast.

We're sure rapper and political activist David Banner had some interesting commentary about the film.

Producer Polow da Don didn't let an injury stop him from enjoying the festivities.

Yesterday, Kim Kardashian wore a sheer bodysuit, showing off her baby bump, as she supported hubby Kanye at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art:

The couple was joined by famed director Steve McQueen and Michael Govan (the current director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art) to officially unveil the West/McQueen collaboration "All Day / I Feel Like That".  Steve directed Kanye's "All Day" video.

The evening was dubbed LACMA Director's Conversation With Steve McQueen, Kanye West, And Michael Govan About "All Day/I Feel Like That."

So what's it all about?  Kanye’s new-nine minute video All Day / I Feel Like That will be released as an exhibition in the museum. The clip (first shown in Paris in May) is a fusion of his two recent singles.

The "reveal" included a Q-n-A as Steve discussed directing Kanye in the clip and Kanye discussed...himself.

Later, the couple was joined by ‎Tim Geary, Director of Membership and Strategic Alliances at NeueHouse (who hosted the event) and his girlfriend Michelle Grey.

Steve McQueen was cheered on by his daughter Alex.  And we must say Alex has fab style!  Cute.

Derek Luke used his social media to shut down a band of trolls who chastised him for marrying outside of his race.  Watch the "Empire" star pop off inside...

Derek Luke, who stole our hearts and "cookies" during a guest-starring stint on "Empire," had a few choice words for some unruly fans over the weekend.

Derek, now the star of DIRECTV's Audience Network series "Rogue", went absolutely rogue on some people who tried to come for his relationship. Some people were disappointed to find out that A) he is married and B) his wife isn't black!

Well.....you might not want to "share" that mess with Derek. He popped off on IG setting folks straight about his non black wife.  Oh, and she's not white either. 

He wrote:

"I never usually entertain the opinions of others because everyone is entitled to they're own opinion. (Positive or Negative)

But we're in the year of 2015 & when should it be a "problem" to date outside of your race? Why is that an issue AGAIN? I'm doing the unusual & going through my comments & the comments I see about my wife being another race is bugging me out.

Who one chooses to date is that persons business.

President Obama returned to his father's homeland, Kenya, where he promoted economic development, ways to counter terrorism and called out the country for its treatment of LGBT citizens.  Then, he burst out into a good-ole two-step at the State dinner! More on the Kenyan turn up inside...

Over the past couple of days, President Obama has made headlines for his visit/return to Kenya.  The POTUS landed in the birthplace of his father to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

First things first.....

A highlight of the trip was Prez O's "dance" at the State dinner in Nairobi.  He joined the band Sautisol for their performance and let's just say, POTUS wa son turn-up status.  What him bust a move below:

President Obama's remarks at the State dinner:

Beforehand, what happened at a press conference outside Nairobi's State House is what clenched the headlines.  EVERYONE was happy to see the POTUS. He told the audience of nearly 4,500:

"I am proud to be the first American president to come to Kenya, and of course I'm the first Kenyan-American to be president of the United States. That was the first time my name meant something and that it was recognized."

President Obama is known for being charming and cracking a good joke. He offered several anecdotes about his family and siblings in Kenya and even threw a jab at the birthers. Here are our favorite gems from the press pool:

On birthers:

'Some of my critics back home might be suggesting I'm back here to look for my birth certificate...That is not the case.'

On his family:

After spending the day with his siblings (back during his college days) he remembered his step grandmother Mama Sarah saying something  to other family members who burst out into laughter. When he asked for a translation, he was told she said "He goes to Harvard, if he is so smart how come he can't talk to his grandmother?" 
 

That was the fun stuff....

But....things got real when President Obama addressed Kenya's stance on LGBT right.  Here in the States, POTUS embraced gay marriage in 2012 and hailed last month's U.S. Supreme Court decision to allow same-sex marriage in the United States.  Yesterday, pressed the controversial issue when he meets with African leaders.

One reporter posed this question at the conference:  "Can you comment on the state of gay and lesbian -- the treatment of gay and lesbians in Kenya, which rights groups have called dismal, and President Kenyatta has called a non-issue?"
 

Here are POTUS' full remarks when asked about LGBT rights and Kenya (taken from press pool reports):

Similarly, with respect to the rights of gays and lesbians, I’ve been consistent all across Africa on this. I believe in the principle of treating people equally under the law, and that they are deserving of equal protection under the law and that the state should not discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation. And I say that, recognizing that there may be people who have different religious or cultural beliefs. But the issue is how does the state operate relative to people.

If you look at the history of countries around the world, when you start treating people differently -- not because of any harm they’re doing anybody, but because they’re different -- that’s the path whereby freedoms begin to erode and bad things happen. And when a government gets in the habit of treating people differently, those habits can spread.

And as an African-American in the United States, I am painfully aware of the history of what happens when people are treated differently, under the law, and there were all sorts of rationalizations that were provided by the power structure for decades in the United States for segregation and Jim Crow and slavery, and they were wrong.

So I’m unequivocal on this. If somebody is a law-abiding citizen who is going about their business, and working in a job, an obeying the traffic signs -- (laughter) -- and doing all the other things that good citizens are supposed to do, and not harming anybody -- the idea that they are going to be treated differently or abused because of who they love is wrong. Full stop.

And the state does not need to weigh in on religious doctrine. The state just has to say we’re going to treat everybody equally under the law. And then everybody else can have their own opinions. All right?

 

The response from President Kenyatta (who spoke after POTUS) was less than promising.  He basically shut down POTUS comments saying we have bigger fish to fry in Kenya than the gays and their rights.

With regard to the second question, just like President Obama, I think we also need to be able to speak frankly about some of these things. And the fact of the matter is that Kenya and the United States, we share so many values -- our common love for democracy, entrepreneurship, value for families. These are things that we share. But there are some things that we must admit we don’t share -- our culture, our societies don’t accept. It is very difficult for us to be able to impose on people that which they themselves do not accept.

This is why I repeatedly say that, for Kenyans today, the issue of gay rights is really a non-issue. We want to focus on other areas that are day-to-day living for our people: The health issues that we have discussed with President Obama. These are critical. Issues of ensuring inclusivity of women, a huge section of society that is normally left out of the mainstream of economic development. What we can do in terms of infrastructure; what we can do in terms of education; in terms of our roads; in terms of giving our people power, encouraging entrepreneurship. These are the key focuses.

Maybe once, like you have overcome some of these challenges, we can begin to look at new ones. But as of now, the fact remains that this issue is not really an issue that is on the foremost mind of Kenyans, and that is the fact.

Mona rocked a dress that bears a striking resemblance to what she wore at her wedding 10 years ago.

Rasheeda rocked a sexy white dress from her ATL store Pressed and Giuseppe sandals.

Mona's mentee and BFF Yandy Harris posed it up with new husband Mendeecees Harris:

The "Love & Hip Hop" star gushed about her friend and soulmate saying:

It's an amazing feeling to be at the first wedding 10years ago and then to be here for the renewal of their vows. It takes a strong man to understand and deal with women like us. Kadeem "Dwayne Wayne" Hardison is 50 y'all!  His former on-screen girlfriend Jasmine Guy& his co-star who had a crush on him Cree Summer (i.e. Whitley & Freddie) and more all linked up with him to celebrate the milestone.  Check it inside....

Kadeem Hardison, who stepped into our hearts in the iconic role of Dwayne Wayne on "A Different World," turned 50 this past Friday.  While kids might know him as Zendaya Coleman's father on the current Disney show "K.C. Undercover," to us, he'll forever be the nerdy guy in flip-up glasses who got the girl!

In impossibly sad news, Bobbi Kristina Brown has died, the Houston family confirms.  A full report when you read on...

Almost six months after she was found unresponsive in her home inside of her bath tub, Bobbi Kristina Brown has passed away.   The 22-year-old daughter of singer Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston was surrounded by her family at the Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia at the time.

"She is finally at peace in the arms of God," the Houston family said in statement to Entertainment Tonight. "We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months."

Just weeks ago, Pat Houston made it known that niece Bobbi Kristina's condition hadn't improved once she was moved into hospice care after being on a ventilator and a medically induced coma at Emory Hospital for months.  She told the media:

"Despite the great medical care at numerous facilities, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s condition has continued to deteriorate.  We thank everyone for their support and prayers. She is in God's hands now."

Bobby Brown, who welcomed a baby girl earlier this month with his wife Alicia Etheredge, has been visibly distraught over the condition of his eldest daughter. He has done a few performances in the last six months, but arguably with a cloud of sadness over his head.

The Houston and Brown families have also sometimes been at odds during this time over the care of Bobbi Kristina as well as the investigation currently taking place involving Nick Gordon.  The scenario surrounding Bobbi Kristina on that tragic day in January was eerily similar to the night her mother passed away.  After her mother's death, Bobbi often spoke about the heartache of missing Whitney.  On her 2012 reality show The Houstons: On Our Own, Bobbi said:

"I still feel her everywhere.  She's still around me and that's what keeps me comfortable, is knowing that my best friend, my everything, is still with me." 

We truly hope Bobbi Kristina, as well as her family, is now at peace.

Not only are "Empire" co-stars Grace Gealey and Trai Byers confirming their dating status....they took it one step further and reportedly got engaged!  All the deets inside...

We've been watching these two for several months: Always hugged up in pics and interviews (spotted above at a pre-Oscar event this past February), doing solo lunches away from the rest of the cast, and having that look.  Yep, we knew something as up, despite neither of the two ever publicly stating their feelings for the other.

Until now.

Just in time for September's second season return of "Empire," Boo Boo Kitty & Andre Lyon Grace Gealey & Trai Byers are engaged, this according to Us Weekly.

American-Caymanian dual citizen Grace just celebrated her 31st birthday over the weekend, and that's supposedly when 32-year-old Trai popped the question.

Us reports:

“He surprised her on her birthday.  He popped the question and she was totally surprised and elated. She can’t stop looking at the ring! They celebrated all night.”

Grace posted pics from the fun night, without mentioning said engagement:

Trai posted pics below saying, “Had so much fun celebrating @gracegealey's life!! Happy Birthday to an exquisite human being! Thank you @kinmontchicago for hosting us. Amazing spot, wonderful food, UNFORGETTABLE night.”

Grace and Trai have something else in common other than age range and their current job.  Both have studied the art of acting to the utmost degree.   Trai attended the Yale School of Drama, while Grace has a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Arts from the University of South Florida and later attended the University of California, Irvine to receive her Master’s of Fine Arts in acting.

The 38-year-old wife and mother has teamed with the Allstate Foundation's Purple Purse program which aims to empower women in order to prevent future occurrences of domestic violence and financial abuse.  Kerry has been a constant supporter of the program over the years.

It’s been a long time coming, but one happy couple is over the moon with new baby news.

Legendary rapper Ice-T and his wife of 14-years Coco Austin are pregnant! Yes, Coco’s prayers have finally been answered.

The mom-to-be announced the exciting baby news via Twitter:

Ice (57) and Coco (35) made the official announcement during a taping on their new talk show “Ice & Coco” on July 24th, which premieres August 3rd.

During the debut episode on Monday, August 3rd, Ice and Coco will reveal the baby's sex, the name they've picked and how long they have been hiding the exciting news.

Ice will become a dad for the third time, having two children from a previous relationship and 20-year-old grandson. This will be Coco’s first child and she’s uber excited after being told she would not be able to carry a child due to high blood pressure.

Rapper Styles P, a member of the legendary rap group The Lox, posted a moving tribute and PSA regarding his daughter Tai Hing, who took her own life last month. Read it inside...

Last month, Tai Hing (aka Tai Styles), the daughter of rapper Styles P took her own life.  While Tai was not his biological daughter, their bond in evident, based on posts and pictures viewed on social media accounts they both maintained.  Recently, the rapper opened up about about Tai's struggles and suicide last month. 

In the message (which we're including below) Styles P says that money, cars, fame and material things DO NOT equal love.  He stresses the value of family and telling the people you care about that you love them.  Here's his full message:

I rarely speak on my personal issues and i usually express my pain the through music but today I will share a little with you last month my wife and I lost a daughter and my son lost a sister . My baby girl took her life and there are no words to describe the day to day pain we have to endure and maintain through but in dealing with pain you find yourself dealing with the creator and asking questions and going through emotions most would not understand. So I'm taking this time out to express a few things to y'all because life is short and we are not promised tomorrow.

I like to deal with simple math I know I am 180- 180+ but im trying my best to live on the positive side of things . I have truly tried to live up to the code of being a gentleman and gangster to fullest of my ability. I have been chasing the dollar bill since I was 12 years old I hustled I worked legal jobs and even manage to make my dream of making it as a rapper come true I have popped bottles before it was the thing to do , I have owned beamers, benzos , rovers, trucks etc etc etc I have lived in the ritz ,owned condos , houses traveled a lot of places etc etc etc but I can honestly tell you don't none of that shit add up or equal to love!!

I have lost my brother , father , aunt , grandmother in law and too many good friends/ brothers and now my daughter!!!! But the only thing that can be done is to leave it in the creators hands . But I wouldn't be me if I didn't take this time out to say from the most humbled part of my heart and soul to say to yall that the dream most of us chase is not !!I repeat is not !!more valuable than the love you get from your family and friends it may seem like it is but it ain't they print money and make material shit everyday but once you used a love one that's it the spirit is with you but you will miss the physical and Won't be able to speak to them how you want to until you get home to the other side.

So I just want to tell yall keep it family 1st and don't get lost and lose your focus the fam is way more important than anything else .... We lost a daughter but gained an angel . Love is love ..ghost
