Flavor Flav pled NOT GUILTY to charges stemming from a traffic stop a few months ago.  Get the deets on his case inside and find out about recent lawsuits involving Rihanna and Paula Patton.

Remember when Flavor Flav got caught speeding on his way to his mom's funeral? The iconic rapper and reality star went to a NY courtroom yesterday (wearing a fur coat and his signature clock underneath) where he pled not guilty to charges stemming from the traffic stop.  The charges included driving with a suspended license, a speeding violation and two misdemeanors for driving without a license. He was released without bail and is due in court Feb. 3.

While outside of the Nassau County courtoom, Flav told the NY Daily News,"I don't like the circumstances, but I like the attention," as he was surrounded by a group of reporters and fans snapping pictures.  This guy...

NOT SO FUN FACT: Prosecutors say Flav's license had been suspended 16 times before being stopped on Jan. 9, 2014. Get a driver!

After a long two-year battle, Rihanna has won her legal battle again retailer Topshop after they unlawfully used her image on a popular T-shirt.

"The Phresh Out The Runway" singer won a £3.3million ($5.5million) settlement from Topshop's parent company Arcadia over the clothing.  Still got mo' money...

In other news, RiRi has signed on to host and perform at The Direct TV Super Saturday Night Bash. The event will air on AXS TV on January 31st and will feature other musicals acts. 

And....

For Robin Thicke's sake, we hope he didn't do Paula Patton dirty in their divorce proceedings, because he needs her!  TMZ revealed that Paula has been called to testify in the court battle with Marvin Gaye's family.  In addition to the "Blurred Lines" suit, Marvin Gaye III also believes Robin's 2011 track "Love After War" samples his dad's tune "After The Dance".  

Paula has been dragged into the battle because she appeared in the 'Love After War' music video, and is listed as a co-writer with Robin. We'll keep you posted.

There seems to be many similarities between Regina Hall and her character Trista in the upcoming LIFETIME original film With This Ring. One is that she and her friends once made a similar vow, in real life, to get married by a certain time.  She's still single, so things obviously didn't go as planned.  But maybe it worked that way for a reason.

The 44-year-old gorgeous YBF chick stars as Trista in LIFETIME’s upcoming rom-com With This Ring, in her first lead role.  She's a successful talent agent who eventually realizes everything is great in her professional life, but her love life is… lackluster, for lack of a better word. So she decides to make a vow with her three bestfriends to be married in 1 year.

How fitting to be playing such a role, being that she, too, made a pact with a group of her friends to be married by a certain age.

“I made that vow," Regina tells TheYBF.com during a call this week. " I have been like ‘by this time next year we’re going to be married'. But, I clearly didn’t stick to it, so I must have came to the same conclusion that she did."

She added, “Well, I mean, I am a woman who is still single”.

Being a woman these days, it seems you always have to choose between an amazing career or finding a husband and starting a family. Yes, we realize some women were blessed to have both.  But many women struggle with trying to find that balance of being the best at what you do AND having a love life.

To this Regina says we shouldn't have to wait to be happy:

“I certainly resonate with this, especially as a black woman, you know, we can’t wait to be happy."

Agreed.

ABC has finally addressed rumors about Rosie Perez's alleged firing off "The View" and their revelation might shock you.  Find out if and when the Oscar-nominated actress will return to the panel inside...

Following Rosie Perez and Rosie O'Donnell's cringe-worthy confrontation over the Cosby accusers a few weeks ago, many saw the writing on the wall for Rosie P.  Some folks said she doesn't fit the panel.  Their huge blowup started a quiet whisper campaign about ABC execs replacing Rosie P.  and eventually rumors of her getting fired ran rampant.  

Now....the execs at ABC News have finally spoken, clearing up the rumors.  In a statement to PEOPLE, the network shot down rumors that Rosie P. got canned and revealed that she'll return to the panel on February 3rd.  They said, "We look forward to welcoming the multifaceted Rosie Perez back to her seat as co-host on the panel on Feb. 3 after completing rehearsals."

A promo for Rosie's ig return also ran during today's show.

If you're wondering where Rosie's been hiding, she's been preparing for her role in Larry David's upcoming Fish in the Dark play.  Since she left to prep for the play, her seat has been filled by a select group of celebs, including singer Michelle Williams and Naya Rivera.

In spite of the rumors, the execs seem to have missed Rosie's presence. The network also told PEOPLE that Rosie "...brings her rich life experience and passion to the table, something we've sorely missed while she's been away."

YES! "POWER" is on its way back to bringing us our tv drama fix with a brand new second season. And we are here for everything Ghost will be getting into.

If you're a fan of the show, you know Ghost (Omari Hardwick) was thinking about leaving NYC to start a new TRUTH nightclub in Miami, and was attempting to bring his mistress Angela Valdez (Lela Loren) along. And based upon the newly released trailer for the 2nd season, it looks like Ghost will finally find out he has been sleeping with a federal agent!

We also see his old friend Kanan (played by 50 Cent) and his right hand man Tommy (Joseph Sikora) join forces.  And it appears the two are working to take Ghost down. We definitely saw this one coming.

Here's a synopsis of what to expect for the new season:

James “Ghost” St. Patrick doubling down on his drug business to save his nightclub and dream of a legitimate future. Ghost’s work troubles pale in comparison to juggling his relationship with his wife, Tasha, and his first love Angela, who’s also an Assistant US Attorney investigating his drug organization.

A few days ago, Mrs. Anthony was spotted posing it up on backstage with LL Cool J. And we believe she was on set to tape for SPIKE TV’s brand new series “Lip Sync Battle”, where LL serves as the host.

According to the network, the new series will feature celebs going head to head - lip-syncing the song of their choice - battling for the coolest bragging rights on the planet. Ha! We can possibly catch LaLa spittin' a few bars when the series premieres April 2nd on SPIKE TV. We'll be watching.

In other tv news...

The Wedding Ringer producer Will Packer has a new project coming to NBC. The network just picked up“People Are Talking”, a comedy about race and sex, written by DJ Nash (Growing Up Fisher) and produced by Will Packer Productions.

This new show comes on the heels of another new show he's producing dubbed a “dramedy” about two female LAPD homicide detectives whose lives are even messier than the crime scenes they investigate. NBC picked that one up as well.

No word on the release date of "People Are Talking" or who will be starring in it, but we’ll keep you posted. Congrats Will!

Earlier this week, Lil Wayne dropped his #SorryForTheWait2 mixtape which featured a shocking Birdman diss on the track "Coco."  Now Birdman is responding to the beef...sorta.  Sources VERY VERY close to Birdman spoke to TMZ and they revealed his bird's eye view of the issue.

Starting with "Coco"  - of course he's pissed. He's upset that Wayne is airing out the family's dirty laundry. And he's also angry at Wayne's "one man army" line which seems to imply that the Lil Wayne brand was built by Wayne without the help of anyone else.  

From a business standpoint, Birdman is upset that his former son/protege is trying to get out of his contract. We're told that lawyers for both fellas are trying to hatch it out but Birdman's camp is very firm.....Tha Carter V comes out when they decide it comes out. And no....they don't have any plans to relinquish his contract!

In a new music video....

Since reuniting over the holiday after that extra disrespectful social media foolishness,Chris Brown and Karrueche Tran are putting their real-life love in front of the camera in a new video. “Autumn Leaves” is the latest single to get the video treatment, which is a single from his sixth studio album X. And the song sounds much like a track from their very own whirlwind love soundtrack.  Of course.

In the Colin Tiley-directed visual, Breezy is fighting for Kae’s love (similar to real life) in the Asian-inspired video, which was shot in Hawaii last year. Kendrick Lamar does not make a cameo, even though his rhymes are dropped on the track.

Breezy is gearing up to hit the road starting Jan. 27th in Hampton, Va to kick off his joint “Between the Sheets” tour with Trey Songz& Tyga. That is…if his recent probation violation doesn’t shut ish down. "With This Ring" is Eve's first leading role since the 2013 flick Bounty Killer.

And we've learned that Eve may reprise her role as "Terri" in the upcoming film Barbershop 3.

All these movies are a good look for Mrs. Maximillion Cooper.

You know those Feyoncé inspired shirts and mugs and items floating around that are a play off Beyoncé's name?  Well, the Queen Bey wants all you brides-to-be to shut it down.

According to reports, Bey's legal team fired off a scary cease & desist to the popular arts & crafts e-commerce site Etsy.com demanding them to stop profiting off her trademarked name.  The site complied and removed the mugs above, but there's still lots of other Feyoncé products selling big on the site.

President Obama followed up his State Of The Union address by taking interviews with three YouTube personalities.  Watch the interviews inside and see why GloZell Green's comment about FLOTUS Michelle Obama went viral....

In an effort to get his message across to folks who get their news from Facebook and Twitter and other online media outlets, President Obama sat for interviews with three of YouTube's most popular personalities who have millions of subscribers.  So far, over 680,000 viewers watch POTUS talk to Hank Green, Bethany Mota and GloZell Green. The interviews took place in the East Room of the White House with the President being hit with hard questions like: "If you had any super power, what would it be?"

But the show was stolen by GloZell Green who said she prepared for the interview by watching episodes of "Veep." And in addition to telling the POTUS that Raul Castro 'puts the "dic" in "dictator" (yes, she really said this to the President), she revealed that she cut the hoods off of her husband's hoodies because she fears for his safety.

Then, she offered President Obama three of her signature green lipsticks, for Sasha, Malia and the FLOTUS , but she referred to Michelle as his "First" wife and not the "First Lady!"

She's known for atention stealing antics, so it's not clear if she just got flustered...or if she really meant "first wife".  She sent an apology tweet to Mrs. Obama afterwards.

We applaud President O. for reaching out to a demo that has always been forgotten and probably will continue to be after his Presidency -- the digital demo.  But maybe his camp should stick to the White House Press Corps?  Or at least pre-screen these questions when going the untraditional route....

Author and tv personality Tyra Banks was spotted leaving her hotel in Los Angeles yesterday.  Get the deets on her upcoming talk show "The Fab Life" inside...

Modelland author Tyra Banks was spotted walking out of the famed Chateau Marmont in her Valentino patent ballerina slippers in Los Angeles yesterday. Tyra, who recently put her home in NYC on the market for $3.8 million, will be spending some time on the West Coast with the start of her new talk show"The Fab Life."

As we revealed to you earlier, "FAB” (which stands for “fun and beautiful”) is a new lifestyle-centric roundtable led by Tyra, alongside model and Twitter fave Chrissy Teigen, fashion writer and former Creative Director at Elle Joe Zee, interior designer Lauren Makk, and DIY YouTube star Leah Ashley.

Disney/ABC Domestic TV has revealed that the show has been sold in 24 of the top 25 markets in the US, including stations in Dallas (WFAA), Atlanta (WSB), Boston (WFXT), Phoenix (KNX) and Seattle (KIRO).  The show is expected to premiere in the fall.

New about the show's success couldn't have come at a better time for Tyra.  She currently facing a $3 million breach-of-contract lawsuit by former “America’s Next Top Model” contestant Angelea Preston who alleges that Tyra and the CW denied her the top prize once they learned she use to be an escort.

Porsha Williams and her new ta-tas has a few harsh words for her "RHOA" star Claudia Jordan, whom she deems a "has been."  Read the shade inside...

On this week's episode of "RHOA" Claudia Jordan insinuated that Porsha Williams was sleeping with a married-African prince in exchange for money, shoes, an $80K handbag and her car.  Now....Porsha is popping off on Claudia (who has also been accused in the rumor mill for using rich and famous men for a comeuppance) in the latest edition of OK! Magazine.  In the column, titled "Porsha’s Piece of Mind ", the Naked Hair spokeswoman responds to a series of questions while throwing shade at the new "mini Kenya" (as she called her), Claudia Jordan.

How did you feel when Claudia accused you of sleeping with men for gifts during her argument with NeNe?

Porsha Williams: Claudia’s attack was out of nowhere and I’ll always pray for my enemies and hope they find peace in their lives. She and I were not necessarily considered friends, but I had never spoken ill towards her, of her or tried to call her out. We had a professional relationship at Radio/Dish Nation. I know she wanted more of a friendship, but I have said previously I didn’t feel right about opening up to her. Claudia had already told me she had gotten fired from her show in New York and could no longer afford her lifestyle. She basically burned some bridges, had a lot of professional let downs and no love life, which led her straight to Atlanta. RHOA was her last shot at the stardom she desired. If you add up all that heartbreak and shattered dreams that will leave you a thirsty 41-year-old has-been. Claudia is a “Mini Kenya” just as I predicted when we met, even though she swore that her friendship with Kenya would not affect her actions towards me but clearly that was a lie. I just wish she would get her facts straight.

Did you sleep with a married man like Claudia and Kenya claim?

PW: Since my tumultuous relationship and divorce from Kordell, I’ve chosen to keep my personal life as quiet as possible. I am in no way in a relationship or have I ever been in a relationship with a married man. I stated on the show several times that during the filming period. I was in long-distance relationship with a professional football player. That relationship didn’t work out, but every girl on the cast was aware we were involved. Anytime I answered a question about who and how my boo and I were doing, Kenya and Claudia’s interview would pop up and finish my sentence with lies.

Why do you think Claudia is talking bad about you in her confessional?

PW: I’ve learned that sometimes when women are envious of other women they will project their past onto them by any means like calling me all the names that have followed Claudia and Kenya their entire careers such as whore, gold digger, home wrecker etc. Claudia believes if she can slander my name it will make her look better and distract people from Googling her and her shady past. I would love for Claudia to live in her truth and find out what went wrong and why she’s so mad. Don’t attack me and instead be a sister and support. She is definitely succeeding as Bravo’s resident mean girl with green eyes full of envy.

Despite previous reports saying that it looked as though 'R&B Divas' was over, Executive Producer Phil Thorton has spoken out about rumors the TV ONE cancelled "R&B Divas Atlanta. He said,

"R&B Divas Atlanta has not been cancelled. There has been no definitive decision made by the network. Yeah, contracts have expired. We have not renewed any of the cast contracts. That’s no secret. We’re in discussions now, but the show is absolutely not cancelled. I was on the phone with the network today and the show is absolutely not cancelled."

Now on to this subtle shade. A viewer called in asking the 45-year-old “American Idol” judge if she would ever date a younger man again (i.e. Casper Smart), in which she said would. Andy asked her what her “type” of man is. And her response definitely sounded like she was shading some of her exes.

“I would say my type of man is…I like manly. I like a kinda tougher edge to them. I like somebody who makes me laugh. I’m not like a 'looks' person. I don’t know if you noticed over the years.”

Jill Scott has adopted a new rule when it comes to dating. After six months of dating, if there’s nothing there, she’s out. Someone give this woman a book deal already!

Jill Scott will be putting her acting skills to work in the LIFETIME original movie With This Ring, which premieres this Saturday at 8/7c. But before we see Miss Jilly from Philly as Viviane in the telefilm, she did an interview with ABC News Radio where she talked about her own love life and how she has adopted some new dating rules.

Now that she’s older (and wiser), the Grammy Award winning singer says after six months of dating, she pretty much knows whether or not she’ll continue to pursue the relationship. She’s clearly not one to waste her time, or anyone else’s. She revealed,

"I'm older now so I see a little bit better than I did before. My longest relationships now are about nine months. Actually, now it's grown to six months. There's no need for me to waste my time or anybody else's. I know by then. If you make it over the six month hump, you have done something. I must really like you."

The Get On Up actress also dished on why her previous marriage to Lyzel Williams (after 6 years) and her engagement to drummer Lil John Roberts failed. She said,

"You can hold your stomach in for four hours, but you can't hold it in forever. You have to be who you are and you have to genuinely love who you love in order to have a lasting marriage. Getting married is one thing; staying married is something else."

In the film, Jill plays Viviane, a successful gossip columnist, who is secretly in love with the father of her son Sean (played by "Grey's Anatomy star Jason George). Just like any romantic film, there's a lustful sex scene between the two, which Jill revealed they shot the first day they met. Talk about pressure! She said,

"We had that scene the first day we met, so it really wasn't much time to figure it out. You know, I just work with the script. My character was in love with this man, and that's all to it! You know, there's nothing for me to figure out. So it's go time. It's time for me to be in love with this man."

Jill Scott continued her With This Ring promo run today, making her way to the "Meredith Vieira Show", where she talked about how (as a kid) green grass meant a person was wealthy. Hmm? Apparently, she didn't grow up in Philly with grass in her yard, so when she saw it in other people's yards for the first time, that's how she evaluated wealth.

Meredith: You grew up in Philadelphia and it was not an easy childhood, you were poor.
Jill: Yeah, I didn’t know that though. I didn’t know we were broke until I got into junior high school and I visited other people and I was like wait a minute you have grass.
Meredith: You mean grass like green grass.
Jill: I mean green grass and they had it in the front of the house and on the side and in the back, it wasn’t just at the park. I had no idea so that’s my template for wealth, is grass. If I have grass I’m doing well and if it’s alive I’m doing even better.
Meredith: Do you have grass now? How much do you have?
Jill: I have 13 acres.

Naomi Campbell dropped by "The Meredith Vieira Show" where she shared her thoughts on models making a name for themselves with social media...she's not here for it! Get her thoughts on "Instagirls" inside...

On today's episode of "Meredith", the legendary Naomi Campbell stopped by the dish on her latest projects and share her thoughts on the current crop of top models.  When Meredith asked her about models who are making a name for themselves via Instagram, Naomi explained that she's grateful for coming up the old fashioned way.  She added, "easy come, easy go."

Meredith: There is this new supermodel generation that is using Instagram and other social media outlets to get noticed and launch their modeling career and Vogue actually refers to them as “Instagirls.” I mean you came up the normal way.

Naomi: It’s amazing, I mean good luck to them I just feel my generation of women, like Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Claudia we had to earn our stripes and take our stepping stones to get to where we have gotten to accomplish to what we have achieved to this date.

Meredith: So does it bother you that this is the way that people are getting to be models.

Naomi: I kind of feel like, ‘My God,’ it’s we've worked so hard and we are still working at it. Then it just comes like that for them but I sometimes believe easy come, easy go. I am actually grateful for the way I had my career I wouldn’t want it any other way so that’s for them, this is me.

Naomi also touted her cameo on FOX's "Empire" where she plays Camilla Marks, the "older" woman in Hakeem Lyons' life.  And if you saw this week's episode, you know she loves it when he calls her "Mommy."   Meow.

We have a few music bits on some of your fave entertainers. Chris Brown and Tyga release their cover art and release date for their upcoming Fan of a Fan 2 album, TLC is currently hitting the studio for their “Final Album” after reaching their Kickstarter goal, a band of Detroit rappers unite for “Detroit vs. Everybody” and you HAVE to see the extra awkward when a fan met Jordin Sparkes recently.

As we near the release of Chris Brown and Tyga’s new joint project Fan of a Fan: The Album, the guys have released their 90s themed Kris Kross-esque cover art; the follow up to their 2010 Fan of a Fan mixtape.

It won’t be long before we hear what they have come up with in the studio since it will be released to the masses on February 24th. “Ayo” serves as the first single and they have already started (or possibly finished) giving the track the video treatment.

Breezy took to Instagram to announce, “#FanOfAFan #TheAlbum in stores and on iTunes Feb 24th @kinggoldchains #TeamBreezy! Pre order link in bio.” Tyga also alerted his fans posting, “#FanofAFan The Album in stores and on iTunes on feb 24th”

Breezy and T-Raww are expected to kick off their joint “Between the Sheets” tour with Trey Songz next week in Hampton, VA….as long as a judge approves of Chris’ travels, the show should go on.
 

In other music news....

Recently, TLC decided to start a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to back their last and final album. Instead of going to a label, they decided to call upon their fans (and friends) to help record the finale of thier girl group music career.

T-Boz and Chilli's goal was to raise $150,000 by next month, which they would use for writing sessions in the studio with a producer and engineer, booking music producers, mixing sessions, etc. Well, they have surpassed that goal, since kicking it off earlier this week.

And they're still breaking records. T-Boz tweeted:

I get off the plane 2 find out not only did we reach our goal but we're the fastest MOST FUNDED POP PROJECT IN #KICKSTARTER HISTORY! Thx

The company spokesman Justin Kazmark released a statement to Yahoo Music which read, “In just four days, their project’s become one of the most funded and anticipated music projects on Kickstarter to date.”

As of Friday evening, the ladies have raised $212,915 with over 2,000 donators. Each donation receives a gift, which range from their digital album for a $15 donation to a slumber party in L.A with T-Boz for a $5,000 donation. "Dark Horse" singer Katy Perry showed her support and donated to the cause:

An adoring fan was super excited to meet Jordin Sparks as she came bearing gifts: cupcakes. The young lady thanks Jordin for inspiring her to eat healthy and made her some vegan velvet cupcakes shaped into a heart with her name across the top during an event, alongside Breakfast Club host Angela Yee.

Jordin grabs the fan to snap a pic and well...you just have to see what happens. It's pretty tragic. Check it above.

We're always here for an adorable round up of YBF Kids!  Find out what Swizz Beatz and his daughter Nicole, Major Harris, Christina Milian and Violent Nash are up to inside.  Plus, Willow Smith is reportedly stirring up controversy again....

Swizz booked it over to London to have a little tea time with his 5-year-old daughter Nicole.  They snapped pics inside of Harrods while bonding over a spot of tea and stuffed animals.

14-Year-Old Willow Smith is causing a bit of controversy...again.  She rocked a shirt with a nude woman on it and it made more than a few people uncomfortable:

It is "just a shirt"....but it also can be said it encompasses sexual undertones.  So is there a limit as to what kids should and shouldn't war to express themselves?  Hmmm.

Willow seems to have deleted the post, but the image remains as her profile pic.

We're sure Jada and Will have a reason why they okay'd this here outfit.  They always do....

Scene Stealer Major Harris!  The "T.I. & Tiny" star and the youngest munchkin of the crew is covering the new issue of N'Visioned magazine.  And we really can't take all his cuteness.  He has the personality of his dad and he's his mom's mini-me.  So it's no surprise that he's the clear breakout of the show.

He's the wisest 6-year-old we've ever seen.  So it's only right he serves up his take on life for the world to see.

During his cover story interview, his mom was beaming with pride and posted:

Kanye West finally spoke on what folks have been wondering about for a while now.  Why is he so intent on scowling for the cameras?  He took the podium at the Daily Front Row's inaugural Fashion Los Angeles Awards recently to explain.  And it's all about the cool factor.  Check out his explanation on why he no longer smiles for the cameras inside...

Kanye & Kim West were spotted arriving at Washington Dulles airport this morning ahead of tonight's BET Honors taping where Kanye is one of this year's honorees.   The twosome rolled in decked out in fur and their "camera scowls".

But Kanye was all smiles, for once, at Thursday's The Daily Front Row's inaugural Fashion Los Angeles Awards.  While presenting an award to Milk Studios founder Mazdack Rassi, 'Ye explained his inspiration behind that glum look of his in photos.  And his refusal to smile for the camera is all thanks to  a history book he found in a Parisian flea market.

He says he was inspired by the images of the 1800s realism art movement....the the stars of the 80's who looked "cool" not cracking a smile in their vintage pics.

'Back when I was working on Yeezus, I saw this book from the 1800s and it was velvet-covered with brass and everything.

I looked at all these people's photos and they look so real and their outfits were incredible and they weren't smiling and people, you know the paparazzi, always come up to me, "Why you not smiling?" and I think, not smiling makes me smile.'

He continued:

'When you see paintings in an old castle, people are not smiling cause it just wouldn't look as cool.'

Well, the self-proclaimed king of cool should know, right?

But every now and then, we get to see that big smile that made us a fan all those years ago.

HalleBerry's iconic role as 'Storm' in Marvel's X-Men franchise is being recast....at least for now.  Find out about Alexandra Shipp landing the role inside...

Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B and Drumline 2 star Alexandra Shipp just nabbed herself a new role.  And this one is on the big screen.

The upcoming X-Men prequel, X-Men: Apocalypse, just got a slew of new stars due to a "younger" recast.  And Alexandra Shipp made the cut.

The 'Storm' female superhero, brought to the big screen by 48-year-old Halle Berry in the first X-Men movie in 2000 and the following 3 movies in the franchise, will now be played by a younger actress.  The reason being, according to writerSimon Kinberg, is that the prequel is set 20 years before.  So it only makes sense to cast the major comic book characters slightly younger than their original portrayers.

23-Year-Old Alexandra posted the above pic of her reaction to finding out the big news and said:

We hear she was up against several young starlets, including KeKe Palmer.  But, as one would expect, not everyone is jumping for joy with the decision.  Folks have been going off on social media saying they're concerned about her acting abilities (based on her two recent tv movies).  Hmph.

Director Bryan Singer tweeted about the new stars saying:

Their movie With This Ring premieres tonight on Lifetime, but first, stars Eve and Jill Scott stopped by Shade 45 to chop it up with host Sway Calloway.  And the duo provided much needed opinions (and side eyes) about the imitation game of rapper Iggy Azalea....since it's a hot topic these days.

There's been PLENTY of talk about blonde haired, blue eyed Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, now that she's being crowned the "Queen of Hip Hop" by mainstream entities who don't have the best track record when it comes to knowing what real hip hop even is. So it has folks feeling some type of way since so many true hip hop artists get ignored.  And Iggy seems to currently be the most visible personification of whitewashed hip hop.

Folks in the industry and out have offered up their opinions...especially when it comes to what some refer to as Iggy's imitaion game.  While there's obviously some people who love and buy her pop-style being paraded as rap, others say she's simply imitating and mocking what SHE thinks is black culture....and doing so with mediocre talent.

Iggy's even been said to have ripped off Eve and Gwen Stefani's "Let Me Blow Your Mind" with her and Charli XCX's "Fancy".  So what does Eve herself have to say about the cultural appropriation?

"I get it...I get that people may be upset about certain things.  Yeah, she's white.  But they grew up with our shit.   Hip hop is everywhere.  Every neighborhood, every country, every city.  It didn't just hit.  Yes, it's from us and it's our thing. She's representing a group of girls right now as well.  I think people right now are too quick to give too many accolades to new people.  That's the one thing I just can't stand.  Let her do her thing...it's not my cup f tea but she's representing for somebody."

Jill followed up with why she thinks Iggy's music sounds like a bite off her co-star:

"I think it's fair enough.  It's a little challenging for me because I come from the era that she pulls from.  To me, it's like a mixture between Da Brat and Eve the way that it sounds.  So that's a little challenging to me.  But I'm a mixture of [1940's jazz singer] Sarah Vaughan and five other things.  So somebody else that comes from that era, they looking at me like....she aiight.  So that's the only thing that stops me....because I know where that comes from."

"[Iggy's music] sounds like a big bite to me.  The tone of it."

Then Eve chimed in with the perfect breakdown:

"The blaccent.  Is that horrible?  A lot of people gonna get mad at that, say what you want, but f*** it.  I'm saying it in a sense that...she's from a different place. I've said this before, It would be dope to hear her with HER swag, what are you, who are you and what is that?  That's the only reason I say that.  [Australians] are so dope.  That's my only thing."

"I think she's fly, I think she's good to look at, I think she's a pretty girl, she has a dope body.  All of that is fine.  I just wish there was a little bit more of where she came from."
