Some of the most powerful women in Hollywood were celebrated at the 2014 Variety Power of Women brunch, presented by Lifetime at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons in L.A. yesterday.

The stylish Jennifer Lopez kept it sexy in a red and black long sleeve ocelot printed Valentino mini. She never disappoints.

JLo caught up with “How To Get Away With Murder” star Viola Davis. Her new show was just given the greenlight by ABC studios for a full-season order, along with “black•ish”.

Viola attended the event in a blue Escada dress accessorized with Jacob & Co. earrings. She and JLo were spotted sharing a few laughs and funny faces while chatting it up.

The 45-year-old “Booty” singer posed it up alongside radio host/producer Ryan Seacrest.

And she stopped for a quick “us-sie” moment with co-founder and current CEO of Uncharted Play Jessica Matthews.

Former “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria looked beautiful in an oxblood Cushnie et Ochs dress and nude pointed pumps.

Viola Davis’ husband Julius Tennon was in attendance to support his wife at the event.

Oxblood seems to be the new fall color. John Legend’s wife Chrissy Teigen slipped into a form-fitting leather oxblood midi dress with nude pumps as well.

Viola wrote on the "Who Inspires You" board, crediting her mother and legendary actress Cicely Tyson for inspiring her.

The Oscar-nominated actress was being honored at the event, so she took the podium to give a movng speech. The 49-year-old actress got candid about growing up poor with hardly any food. She said,

"I sacrificed a childhood for food...and grew up in immense shame."

As an honoree for her work with the Hunger Is charity, the Variety Power of Women covergirl opened up about living in poverty and while growing up, she had no idea how she was going to get her next meal. She shared,

“Although my childhood was filled with many happy memories, it was also spent in abject poverty. I was one of the 17 million kids in this country who didn't know where the next meal was coming from. And i did everything to get food.”

 

She added,

"I've stolen for food, I've jumped in huge garbage bins with maggots for food, I have befriended people in the neighborhood who I knew had mothers who cooked three meals a day for food."

But look at her now!

And Jennifer Lopez was honored for The Lopez Family Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of women and children.

Congrats!

Fabulous “Gotham” actress Jada PinkettSmith is making her media rounds promoting her new crime-thriller series. And yesterday, she hit up SiriusXM studios to chop it up with Sway Calloway for his "Sway Tn The Morning" radio show.

She kept it cute and comfortable in a tan oversized sweater dress, which she paired with black suede lace-up knee boots.

The married couple went on a run for some fresh bread at Joan's On Third. And Marco just couldn’t get enough of his wife, with his arm wrapped around her neck and kissing her on the cheek.

The mommy-to-beflaunted her cute bump on the cover of Elle magaine’s "MEET ELLE'S 2014 WOMEN IN HOLLYWOOD" issue (which hits newsstands Oct. 21st). She spoke to the mag about growing up in the Dominican Republic, and its impact on her self-esteem and success.

And on yesterday, she attended the 2014 NCLR ALMA Awards at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Chick isn't letting pregnancy slow her down one bit.

Divergent actress Zoe Kravitz (and her long braids) was spotted hand-in-hand with designer-turned DJ Noah Becker as they attended British singer Lily Allen’s afterparty after her L.A. tour stop.

Its interesting to note, Zoe was spotted on a dinner date with her former flame/Star Trek actor Chris Pine in L.A. after a Coldplay concert about three weeks ago. Must have been just a cordial dinner because it's clear she's getting a little closer to Noah.

Zoe and Noah were romantically linked earlier this year, after they were spotted holding hands making their way through NYC. Guess a girl is just having fun. Not mad.

Anyhoo, Stevie called up Milwaukee’s V100.7 Jams radio host Reggie Smooth and during the interview, he alludes his wife may possibly be pregnant. He said,

“We got new additions with the family too, but I don’t want say too much. We extending and expanding the Jordan family, if you understand what I mean. You know, we extending the family man.”

He also confirmed he and Joseline are gearing up for their own spin-off show. Yes…more foolywang to ensue. There has been rumors about the married couple getting their own show, and now it appears it may be happening with the working title "The Jordan Show". We're sure the cameras will be rolling if the ink is dry on the paperwork. He said,

“We gearing up towards the spin-off…me and my wife. We gone do Love & Hip Hop and carry that fanbase over to The Jordan Show”

The Carters have been spending much of their time in Paris lately. In September, Mr. & Mrs. Carter wrapped up their successful "On The Run" tour and earlier this month, they were spotted house hunting in an upscale neighborhood near the French president's estate.

A few days ago, we spotted the Hip Hop family making their way to the Louvre Museum. And now we have some inside shots of Beyonce and Jay Z walking little Blue Ivy around and shots of them exploring the exhibits, such as the Mona Lisa portrait (atop).

After being honored at the 2014 Variety Women of Power brunch, Jennifer Lopez took some time from the red carpet to enjoy some quality time with her twins, Emme and Max.

As the harvest season and Halloween approaches, the 45-year-old “Booty” singer, her twins and manager Benny Medina trekked it to Mr. Bones Pumpkin Patch in West Hollywood yesterday.

The fab mom was spotted in a pair of white distressed jeans, a flannel shirt and shades as she walked her kids around to pick out the perfect pumpkin.

After picking her pumpkin, Emme hit the inflatable slide for some fun.

And after all of the fun and festivities, Jenny from the Block and the kids hopped in her white Bentley and took off. Fun times.

“Sharknado 2” star Vivica A. Fox is opening up to Oprah about her biggest regret in life on “Oprah: Where Are They Now” upcoming episode.

The 50-year-old actress revealed to Lady O that although she loves being an aunt and godmother, she feels like she missed out on the experience of having her own children. She now wishes she had some children of her own. And she realized how much she had missed out on motherhood after a conversation with fellow actress Halle Berry, soon after she had given birth to her daughter Nahla.

Oprah asked, “Do you ever miss being a mother?” Vivica responds,

"Of course. That's the biggest regret of my life that I have, was that I didn't have a child. That’s the one thing that I have a regret about, would be that I didn’t have a child.”

Vivica then reflects on the time she ran into Halle on the red carpet right after having Nahla. She said,

"I'll never forget seeing Halle on the red carpet and she just had Nahla and I said ‘Wow she’s so beautiful.’
She said, 'Vivica, if I knew then what I known now, I would've had five of them. She said, 'The joy I see in her eyes is just like no other high that I've ever experienced.' I don’t get to see my eyes in a child.”

NBA Hall of Famer Earvin “Magic” Johnson was the man of the hour last night. He was honored at the 2014 Carousel of Hope Ball at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, benefitting Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes.

His wife Cookie, son EJ and daughter Elisa were all there to support their dad’s philanthropic efforts as they snapped a few pics with Sony Entertainment chief creative officer Clive Davis and Carousel of Hope Chairman Barbara Davis.
 

Magic and his loving wife of 23-years were all smiles during the ball.

Magic posed it up on the carpet with his son/"#RichKidsOfBeverlyHills" star EJ Johnson.

EJ showed off his new trim bod after getting gastric sleeve surgery this past August. Before going under the knife, EJ sought advice from Star Jones (who also had weight-loss surgery) and she told him, "A lot of people think it's the easy way out, but it's not. It's a step in the right direction, just a big push." Well alright.

EJ and sister Elisa made their rounds throughout the night.

Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and music producer Jimmy Jam was there to support their friend.

Motown legend Berry Gordy and Grammy-Award winning singer Natalie Cole were all smiles during the ball.

And Natalie got kissy with legendary singer Johnny Mathis.

Looking dapper in all black, Magic took the podium to speak after receiving the Brass Ring Award for his humanitarian efforts.

After strolling the streets eating bread in L.A., the twosome attended the Hammer Museum's 12th annual 'Gala In The Garden', honoring Joni Mitchell and Mark Bradford at the Hammer Museum in Westwood, California. The gala's proceeds will help fund the Hammer Museum's nationally acclaimed exhibitions and public programs.

Cute.

Zoe was glowing in a purple and black Bottega Veneta dress, shoes and clutch, accessorized with David Webb jewels.

"black•ish" star Tracee Ellis Ross came out to support. Her brand new ABC series was just picked up by the network for a full-season order, bringing the first season to a total of 22 episodes. Work!

Bad news for fans of 2014 NBA MVP Kevin Durant, he's expected to miss the first month of the season due to a serious injury.  Get deets on the injury inside and find out why his ex-fiancee called off their engagement...

A few months ago, OK Thunder forward Kevin Durant was on a career high, accepting his first MVP honor from the NBA and now, he's  expected to sit-out his first month of the season.

A new report from ESPN.com reveals that Kevin was diagnosed with a Jones fracture, a broken bone at the base of the small toe, and will miss from 6-8 weeks of the new season.

Thunder general manager Sam Presti said "From what I've been told, a Jones fracture is the most common surgical procedure performed on NBA players as of late. It has happened enough so that there is enough of a body of work to look at an average recovery time.  We're really fortunate that we're catching it when we're catching it. We are very fortunate that Kevin notified us yesterday and that we're kind of catching it on the front end, before this became more of an acute issue."

Sam added that the "stress injury" happened over time and it's good the Kevin has caught it.  Kevin tweeted his followers,

In the latest issue of RISEN Magazine, the WNBA Minnesoa Lynx star revealed that she walked away from her one-year engagement to Kevin Durant due to infidelity. She told the magazine that is was her faith in God that helped her make that decision.

“Yeah, in my last relationship [with NBA All-Star Kevin Durant], I had to make a decision about compromising myself as a woman. I had to make a decision to leave a relationship, which a lot of people thought I was crazy to leave. There was a lot of criticism over it. But I think God had my back in it. Because I hold to what I know to be true, that is what God will reward instead of what people on the earth think is a good catch.”

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz suffered a devastating blow during Sunday’s night game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

As he attempted to make a catch from Eli Manning in the end zone, he ended up twisting and injuring his right knee, tearing his patella tendon. He was visibly in a lot of pain, sobbing as they carted him off the field. To add insult to injury, the Eagles shut the Giants completely out, 27-0.

This the second athlete on the injured list for Jay Z’s Roc Nations Sports. Like Kevin Durant, Victor is also managed by the label.

Miami Heat baller Dwyane Wade enjoyed a mini workcation with his wife “Being Mary Jane” star Gabrielle Union. The newlyweds spent their weekend in Rio De Janeiro for the NBA Global Games. And they brought D. Wade's sister Tragil Wade along for the festivities.

Wade and Gabby got in a little one-on-one action on the court. Gabby captioned,"Defense... $$$ #Rio" Ha!

Meanwhile, Wade’s teammate Chris Bosh and his wife Adrienne Bosh enjoyed a romantic dinner together, loving on each other as the sunset. It’s interesting to note LeBron James was also in Rio over the weekend with the Cavaliers. Since his return to Cleveland, there have been talks that there may possibly be some bad blood between LeBron, D. Wade and Bosh.

Earlier this week, Bosh made comments that he had not spoken to LeBron since he decided to leave the Heat in July. He later clarified that he spoke to him at D. Wade’s wedding. In an interview, LeBron reponded saying he was surprised by Bosh’s comments, but that doesn’t take away from what they accomplished in Miami. He said he still talks to D. Wade, but (obviously) hasn’t talked to Bosh.

Keyshia Cole tackles suicide on the latest video from her aptly entitled disc Point Of No Return (available now).  In "Heat Of Passion", which her "Intro (Last Tango) clip, Keyshia plays the role of a scorned woman who walked out on her cheating lover.

Earlier today, Professor Cornel West was arrested while he was taking part in the "Ferguson October" protests in Missouri.  According to the St. Louis Dispatch, after a long standoff in the rain, Dr. West and about 15 clergy members were taken into custody.

The protest were organized in response to the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown in the St. Louis Suburb by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson and Vonderrit Myers, also 18, who was shot and killed in St. Louis last week by a city police officer.

In addition to the clergy, about 600 people took part in the protest outside the police station, which began before 11 a.m. and ended shortly after 2 p.m.  Dr. West's group marched to the police station chanting, "Hands up, don't shoot." Rev. Michael Kinman, dean of Christ Church Cathedral downtown, told the paper that he was protesting because,

“Every person is a child of God, made in God's image, and as long as there are people who are not being treated with dignity and respect, we need to stand up for them.”

So far, neither Dr. West nor any of his representatives have made public comments about the reported arrest.

On Twitter...

Chris Brown (shown above with Karrueche Tran) is saying some shocking things on Twitter.  A few months about, we all relaxed when Chris deleted his Twitter a few years ago...and we think its time he consider leaving Twitter again. 

The "Loyal" singer, who's heading on tour with Trey Songz, went on Twitter recently to chime in about the Ebola epidemic.  He suggested to his 13 million followers that the disease is a method of "population control."  Shockingly, his tweet was retweeted 16K times.

Sigh.....shouldn't his publicist have access to his Twitter account to prevent this foolishness?

Rihanna and Angela Simmons made it a date night last night. Rih dined with her younger brother at her one of her fave restaurants in L.A., then ends her night with a Twitter exchange with Kerry Washington. And in Beverly Hills, Angela grabbed dinner with a male friend. Pics and deets inside…

Trekking it from Miami, Rihanna has made her way to the west coast. And last night, she met up with her younger brother for dinner. They hit up RiRi's favorite eatery, Giorgio Baldi restaurant in Santa Monica, for some good eats.

Keeping it comfortable in a laid back look, the Pop princess rocked a red maxi, gray cropped top, white New Balance sneakers and a gun-shaped purse.

27-year-old fitness fanatic Angela Simmons dined out in Beverly Hills last night. She along with a mystery guy were spotted kiki'ing it up as they pulled up in front of the restaurant of choice before making their way inside.

We found out her friend's name is Knowledge Katti, a wealthy businessman from Namibia, Africa who once worked for the world's second largest professional accounting firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers. He does a lot of traveling and philanthropic work through multiple foundations he has created. It appears the two have a pretty solid friendship, at least. He attended her birthday festivities in Miami for her 27th birthday recently:

After doing some digging on her friend, we stumbled apon another man Angela could possibly be linked to. Hey...there's nothing wrong with a girl having choices.

It appears about a week ago, she went on a cutesy date in Washington D.C. with a painter named Delano Brown (with connections to celebs such as Fabolous& Kevin Durant). He posted a picture of Angela with flowers, which he captioned, "she ain't like the first one. she spoiled":

Phaedra Parks will break her silence on the state of her marriage to Apollo Nida on an episode of The ELLEN DEGENERES Show airing Wednesday.  According to the show's website, the southern belle will spill all the tea, and will "likely" announce her divorce.

The "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star will candidly address reports on her relationship with husband Apollo, as well as her plans for life now and in the future. A few days ago, Phaedra's rep confirmed that she'd be moving forward ALONE, but Wednesday will be the first time we hear from Phaedra, about the end of her marriage.

In other news, a judge has order Phaedra to sit for a 2nd deposition regarding her defamation lawsuitagainst Angela Stanton (who claims Phaedra knew all about Apollo's shading business deals). We'll keep you posted.

Soul Train Award nominee, Jhené Aiko appeared on The WENDY WILLIAMS this morning to performs her hit song, "The Pressure" off her new album, "Souled Out" and to reveal the 2014 Soul Train awards.

Jhene was nominated for four awards including Best New Artist and Video of the Year for “The Worst” and is expected to appear at the ceremony which will be host by Wendy.

Iggy Azalea was the butt of one of Snoop Doog’s Instagram posts. And she’s not letting it go unaddressed. Over the weekend, Snoop posted a picture of what appears to be an Albino woman with cornrows with the words, “Iggy Azalea No Make Up” written across it. Check it:

Many of Snoop’s followers found it funny, but Iggy wasn’t too fond of Snoop posting “mean” things about her. She hopped on Twitter to question Snoop’s motive behind the posting because she initially thought they were good friends. She tweeted then deleted (read from the bottom up):

In relationship news....

Ariana Grande has finally confirmed she and Big Sean are in relationship…as if we already didn’t suspect it.

On a recent trip to an amusement park, the two 21-year-old singer and the 26-year-old rapper were spotted locking lips on the Revenge Of The Mummy roller coaster at Universal Studios last week. There was pretty much no denying they are least dating, so she decided to finally break her silence on their love connection.

During an interview with The Telegrah, she was asked if she and Big Sean are dating. She revealed,

Yes! He is one of the most amazing men in the whole world, and that includes my grandfather and my brother. I think the world of him, and he's an amazing person. That's kind of all there is to it."

A few weeks ago, Big Sean was asked about their current relationship status, but he remained rather coy about their budding romance, saying he wanted to keep his personal life…private. He told Ryan Seacrest,

“I like to keep my personal life personal. But I am going to tell you this... that Ariana is very, very special. She’s very special to me. Everything she has going on is good with her, everything I have going on is good with me, everything between me and her is good, and Imma just leave it at that.”

We saw their first display of public affection backstage at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards in August. They were spotted holding hands as they made their rounds after her performance. Big Sean is also is featured on Ariana’s single “Best Mistake” from her latest album, My Everything.

And speaking of "Best Mistake", the two performed the track live at the iHeartRadio Theater in L.A. last month And there was plenty of chemistry between the two. Check it:

Nick Cannon celebrated his 34th birthday in Las Vegas this weekend while his daughter Monroe played around in Mariah's shoe closet.  Check out the pics and video inside....

Newly single mogul Nick Cannon is not letting any grass grow under his feet. 

This weekend, he headed to Drai's Nightclub at The Cromwell in Las Vegas where he got behind the 1s and 2s and flashed the audience his "new
tattoo (the one that covered over "MARIAH").

In addition to doing a 2-hour set in the DJ booth, the hotel bigwigs presented Nick with a 3-tier birthday cake to celebrate his accomplishments in Hollywood. He was joined by several different ladies in the VIP section and his "crew" did everything to prevent to paparazzi from snapping him with a variety of ladies.

Tonight, he retuns to BET on "RHOH" at 9pmCt.

We spotted YBF moms Tamar Braxton and WNBA star Candace Parker on the move with their kids.  See their candids inside...

Singer and reality star Tamar Braxton was photographed riding around LA with her son Logan Vincent Herbert.

If you've been watching Braxton Family Values, there was a huge fight between the sisters last week when Tamar "seemingly" insinuated that Toni hadn't played a large role in paving the way for her career.  Also, a member of Tamar's team told the sisters (Traci, Trina & Towanda) that Tamar had called them the "B" word. 

On Twitter, Tamar cleared this up with her fans.   

It's great to see Tamar give Toni her props and clear the air with her sisters.

WNBA player Candace Parker was seen walking through LAX with her daughter Lailaa Nicole Williams.

Remy Ma is “still around” making her media runs. And for her latest appearance, she stopped by “The Wendy Williams Show” where she talked about prison life, which celebs she kept in contact with, her relationship with Nicki Minaj and more inside….

After 6 years, 4 months and 5 days behind bars, Grammy nominated raptress Remy Ma has been busy making media appearances in between studio sessions as she gears up to make her entrance back into the rap game. While she works on her post-prison album, Rem plans to drop a new mixtape titled “I’m Around” to hold her fans over until the LP is complete.

This morning, Remy hit the couch to chop it up with Wendy on the “Wendy Show” about 6-year prison stint, being a mom to her now 14-year-old son, married life with her husband/rapper Papoose and more.

Although Rem was late (that damn NY traffic), she managed to drop a few nuggets about Keyshia Cole and 50 Cent holding it down for her while she was incarcerated, whether she has regrets AND about this rumored “beef” with Nicki Minaj.

Before getting to the juicy topics, Rem revealed Wendy’s show was the root of a few physical altercations when she was behind bars. She said there were 60 women who had to share one television and she would demand they watch “Wendy” when she was on the air. Definitely a full-circle moment for her.

Peep the highlights:

On which celebs showed her love while she was in prison:“I did more phone calls to people. I spoke to DJ Khaled on the phone. 50 Cent sent me wonderful letters for my P.O. Like personally signed them saying like [telling the judge] if you grant her appeal she’ll be fine. And Keyshia Cole gave me thousands of thousands of dollars like here ‘this is for you son, this is for your lawyer’. That to me meant more than coming to visit me.”

On her “beef” with Nicki Minaj:“That’s not true. We speak very often. We speak often and I’m very proud of her. She wishes me the best and I wish her best all the time.”

On any regrets:  “I believe everyone who has went through any turmoil in their life have some regrets. I definitely know that keeping a smaller circle and keeping people around that love you genuinely. It just made me more wiser about my surroundings.”

On the pending lawsuit filed by Makeda Barnes Joseph (the woman she shot):“It was settled.”

On how her prison sentence affected her marriage:“I believe that me being away actually brought us closer than we would be if I was home. It made us understand how precious we were to each other. We couldn’t just see each other anymore, couldn’t talk to each other, couldn’t sleep with each other when we wanted to. So anytime that we did have together we really cherished it.”

Remy and Papoose had planned to get married just one month before she was sentenced. In 2008, they were scheduled to get married on April 27th, but that was cut short after she was sentenced to eights years on two charges of assault on March 27th. Since they already had the marriage certificate, they just filled it out and got married anyway.

Wendy asked her what advice she would give “Real Housewives of New Jersy” star Teresa Giudice, who was sentenced to 15 months in prison. Rem advised her stay on the phone with her children as much as she can, write them letters, have people bring them to see her often. She said to try to communicate with her children as much as possible and tell them the truth.

After their interview, they played a freestyle game where Remy had to freestyle using random words Wendy held up on a card.
