BET has ordered three new docuseries starring Nelly, Keyshia Cole and gospel's powerhouse couple Tamela & David Mann. More inside....

Now that VH1 has been confirmed as the #1 cable network among Black households, BET is hoping to take a bite out of their success with a return to docuseries.  A new report published by THR reveals that BET ('The Game,' 'Being Mary Jane,' 'Real Husbands') has ordered three docuseries starring rapper Nelly, singer Keyshia Cole and a show featuring Meet the Browns stars David and Tamela Mann.

Keyshia's untitled project was picked up for six half-hour episodes, making it her third series (Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is and Keyshia & Daniel: Family First) with the network. The show will follow her new life as a single mother, her unstable marriage to NBA player Daniel Gibson and family struggles.  On Instagram, it appears that Keyshia is speaking to her momFrankie again. She posted,

"My mean mug was real but her Idgaf was REAL! Even when I'm mad at her I miss her! Her smile, her laugh. Felt horrible tonight but seeing her really made me feel better! @BirdMan5Star said u only get #One well I have 2 and love them both!!! I didn't kno her but #Respect 2 U #RIP Ms GLADYS!! @Birdman5star"

We guess this means Frankie will appear.....

The Nelly project will focus on Nelly as a fashion businessman/co-owner of the NBA's Charlotte Bobcats, father, and his new relationship with Miss Jackson, Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s ex-girlfriend (above). BET has ordered 8 episodes.  Hmm....now we know why Nelly is being so public with THIS relationship.  It's for tv!

Also, "Take Me To The King" singer Tamela Mann will star opposite her husband David Mann (married 26 years) and their children on a show about their lives in the industry.

"These three shows are led by talent that our audience connects with but are also very different shows," BET senior vp original programming Charlie Jordan Brookins tells THR. "We're excited about these new shows. What BET does is give the audience what they've been looking for."

On Saturday, Former Miami Heat baller turned Portland Trail Blazer Dorell Wright married his longtime girlfriend Mia Lee in a lavish wedding ceremony fit for a king and queen in Simi Valley California.

Celeb guests included Miami Heat baller Dwyane Wade, “Being Mary Jane” star Gabrielle Union, Miami Heat player Chris Bosh and his wife Adrienne Bosh, Miami Heat player Udonis Haslem, “The Game” actress Lauren London, Oklahoma City Thunder player Russell Westbrook, singer Teairra Mari, Kevin Hart's girlfriend Eniko Parrish and rapper YG.

Although Dorell no longer plays for the Heat, it was a Miami Heat reunion as his former teammates witnessed him tie the knot with his girlfriend. Seems Dorell & Mia were able to move past that side-chick drama he had poppin’ a few years ago.

Gabrielle Union and D. Wade were among the guests. They are weeks away from trekking down the aisle themselves. Sure she picked up a few ideas from the ceremony.

Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh and his wife Adrienne were dressed for the occasion. You know she stays camera ready.

Christina Milian has a new shaved ‘do. And it’s fueling Lil Wayne romance rumors.

Christina etched “TNT” in the nape area of her head, which some say is an acronym for “Tina & Tunechi” As you may know, the YMCMB singer is set to release a mixtape titled “Tina Turnup” and she has been in the studio for countless hours “making music” with her boss Weezy.

Rumors first started to circulate when they showed up at the ESPY Awards hand-in-hand. And since then, the two have been spotted on a couple of outings together, further fueling relationship rumors. Also, Weezy released a track “Tina Turner Needs A Tuneup," in which he raps about his new lady needing a King….and “f*ck” them princes. And we know Christina & her ex-fiance Jas Prince called it quits back in June.

There’s a lot of hype surrounding Remy Ma since her release from prison earlier this month. And for her first televised interview, the Bronx raptress made her way to BET’s 106 & Park to chop it up with Bow Wow and Keisha Chante about what life is like after doing a 6 ½ year bid.

The 34-year-old raptress opened up on how it feels to come home (“I’m blessed”), how she’s getting use to social media (haven’t mastered the selfie or her smartphone yet), the hardest thing to get use to while in jail (asking people for things), on what she learned from her experience (be careful of every decision you make), on why she thinks there is division amongst females in Hip Hop (some females feel like it’s always competition) and on her husband (legally) Papoopse (he’s more hype about their upcoming wedding ceremony than her).

Since her release, Remy has been very busy in the studio. On her first day home she linked up with DJ Khaled and hopped on his “They Don’t Love You No More” remix. And a few days ago, French Montana, Rem and Khaled got together to shoot the visuals for the new track.

Khaled hit "106 & Park" the day before and talked about wanting to sign the raptress to his We The Best label. He said “If anybody know Remy Ma let Remy Ma know I want to sign her. I want her to be part of We The Best. It aint no secret, I’m going to at least try.”

One of the hottest casts of Summer 2014 is gracing EBONY's September issue double covers.  Chadwick Boseman, Tika Sumpter and Nelsan Ellis are channeling old Hollywood...and we love it.

Chadwick is getting plenty of praise for his portrayal of James Brown in the flick (which debuted at #2 at the box office), and his supporting cast isn't too shabby either.

The sexy powerhouse-in-the-making actress Tika Sumpter (known best for her sultry character in Tyler Perry’s "The Haves and Have Nots"), plays a noticeable short role in the film, and it was worth it.  She tells Ebony:

“I wouldn’t take this time back at all. The talent here elevated my own and has done nothing but push me forward.  For me, it’s not always just about the work; it’s also about the connection.”

By the way, the YBF chick is currently starring and producing in her own untitled project.  She revealed:

“Nowadays, you simply can’t wait for someone to give it to you.  You have to create opportunities for yourself when nobody else will.”

As for the charming Mr. Boseman...

He's got his own solo cover moment.  He dished to EBONY about landing one of the biggest roles in his career so far.  He was hesitant to even attempt to portray the legend, but he came around. Oh, and he beat out 20 other actors for the role:

“When my manager brought me the script, I didn’t even want to read it because I knew attempting to play James Brown would just be crazy...He was a complicated man, both good and bad. Once you understand the reasons for his dichotomy, it’s easier to grasp who he was.”

And "True Blood" star Nelsan Ellis credits Boseman for being a “working machine” and wanting to keep up at his level.

“I thought, ‘If I’m going to act opposite [Chad], I’ll need to prove myself worthy.  You’ll see some of the best acting I’ve ever done on this last season of True Blood, and I owe that to Chad.  I don’t know what people’s reactions will be, but I do want them to see a different side of my acting in this film.”

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick has been suspended for four game after testing positive for the street drug “Molly.” And guess who he’s blaming for his drug use? His ex-girlfriend Draya! Deets inside…

NFL baller Orlando Scandrick is in hot water after he tested positive for the drug MDMA…or as it's called in everyday life, “Molly.”

He reportedly failed the drug test in April, then appealed.  Today, the NFL suspended the Dallas Cowboys cornerback for the first four games of the season, which makes him the 21st player of 2014 suspended for performance-enhancing drugs to test positive for MDMA. This news comes on the heels of Orlando’s best season of his seven year career in the league.

Due to his sub-par decision making skills, he will lose a whopping $1 million through four missed game checks AND and a signing bonus repayment, according to ESPN.

Orlando has released a statement on the incident, via his rep, insisting he didn’t know he was taking the banned substance and that failing a drug test is not in his character.

The statement reads,

"I would like to apologize to my children, my family, the Jones family, my coaches, my teammates and my fans. Failing a drug test is far out of my character, and although I never knowingly took a performance-enhancing drug/banned stimulant while on vacation in Mexico, I take full responsibility for what goes in my body and more importantly for the embarrassment of a failed drug test. It's my goal by issuing this statement to clear my name and more importantly to be judged by what happens to me in the future.

"I hope that my family, my Cowboys football family and all my fans can forgive me for this situation. I look forward to a successful 2014 season."

But here’s the kicker….Orlando is supposedly blaming his now ex-girlfriend "BBW LA" star Draya for his recreational drug use!  According to e claims she persuaded him to add a substance (which he didn’t realize was on the league’s banned list) to a cocktail he was drinking. Wait…what?!

According to ESPN:

Sources told [ESPN's Eric Werder] that the violation occurred while Scandrick was vacationing in Mexico with an ex-girlfriend, whom he has claimed persuaded him to add a substance he didn't realize was on the banned list into a cocktail they were drinking.

Chile...

In an effort to clear her name, Draya has responded to her ex-boyfriend’s claims. She says she's not the one to blame...and Orlando has taken responsibility for his own actions.  Doesn't sound like she's denying drugs were involved on their Mexican vacay. But it does sound like she's saying he's a grown man who made his own decisions.

She tweeted:

You’ll recall Draya blamed Orlando for their break-up. Guess he had to get in on the finger pointing to make himself look better.

Not sure what Orlando THOUGHT he was doing adding any drug to his drink (whether it was on the league’s banned list or not), but dude's decision making skills are clearly questionable at best...

We spotted E!’s "Total Divas" star Ariane "Cameron" Andrew in a sexy black ensemble.  Chic works hard for that physique in the WWE, so she shows it off.  She walked into Black Apple Gallery’s “Contraband 2” Party at Riviera 31 at the Sofitel Hotel in Los Angeles recently to do some promo.

The YBF chick as been getting her shine lately after covering an issue of Rolling Out Magazine.  She said about working her ass off to succeed in her wrestling career:

No one can just get into the ring. It requires a lot of practice. I had to go into the Florida Championship Wrestling developmental program in Orlando, Fla. It’s where the WWE superstars and divas go to train before they can make it to the main roster. Taking a bump is not easy. The people you see on TV doing this all trained hard. It looks easy, but it really isn’t. You have to have thick skin and work hard to perform inside the ring.

LIFETIME has chosen their Missy and Timbaland stars for their upcoming Aaliyah biopic. But once again, it doesn’t come without controversy. Find out why folks are up in arms over the casting and get the deets on a new thriller film starring three of our fave YBF celebs Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy& Morris Chestnut inside…

Seems LIFETIME’s new "Aaliyah: Princess of R&B" project (executive produced by Wendy Williams) has been controversial since the day they announced it.

In the latest developments of the film, the network has chosen who will star as singer/rapper Missy Elliot and superproducer Timbaland. Budding Canadian actress Chattrisse Dolabaille and actor Izaak Smith (who appeared on “So You Think You Can Dance”) will play their respective roles.
 

Like much of the uproar after Disney star Zendaya was chosen to play Aaliyah (before she backed out), Missy & Timbaland’s portrayers (above) are experiencing the same backlash. People are up in arms because neither of the young people chosen to play them look anything remotely close to Missy or Timbaland. And people seem to be taking issue with the young stars' skin tones.  We've seen more than a few social media rants from people accusing the powers of white-washing the film.

Other casting confirmations:  Anthony Grant as Damon Dash, Rachael Crawford and Sterling Jarvis as Aaliyah’s parents, Lyriq Bent as her uncle Barry Hankerson, as well as A.J. Saudin and Jesse Sukunda, who will play the older and younger version of Aaliyah’s brother Rashad.

There have been actors who didn’t particularly look like the person they were portraying and still nailed the role. Do you think these two will be able to pull it off?
 

And on another movie set....

Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut have started filming for a new thriller titled “The Perfect Guy.” And anything with these three beautiful and extremely talented people is a must watch.

In the film, Sanaa’s character wants to start a life with her boyfriend (Morris’ character) including marriage, kids, etc. but he doesn’t want to commit. She then meets her new man (Michael’s character) and everything is perfect…for a while. His behavior soon changes and when she tries to get out of the relationship she learns he’s not the guy she thought he was.

IMDB summarizes the storyline:

In the film, Leah Vaughn (Lathan) appears to have the ideal life. She enjoys a challenging, fast-paced career as a lobbyist; Dave (Morris Chestnut), her longterm boyfriend loves her. And yet, at 36, she's ready to move to the next phase. Marriage and a family seem a logical and welcome step. Dave is not so sure. A bit commitment phobic, his misgivings lead to a painful break up.

Enter Carter Duncan (Ealy), a handsome, charming stranger whose path keeps crossing with Leah's. Caring and solicitous of Leah and her family and friends, their relationship rapidly progresses. It seems Leah has met the perfect guy. But if it seems too good to be true... Soon Carter's protective nature morphs into something more sinister. It's clear Leah has to end this new relationship and when she does, her onetime lover becomes her ultimate enemy. It will take every bit of her cunning and resolve to escape and outwit him.

Sources close to Blac Chyna and Tyga say the couple have broken-up.  Uh oh..who will the Wests be besties with now? More inside...

If you've ever imagined what the wedding between Blac Chyna and Tyga might look like, for whatever reason, you may never get an answer to that one. According to friends of the couple (via TMZ) the pair have split.  While the "friends" did not reveal a reason for the split, they are saying Tyga is the one who called it quits.

The couple began dating in 2011 and gave birthto son King Cairo in October 2012. We saw them together at Kim and Kanye's wedding in Florence (May 2014) and everything seemed fine between the two.

TMZ reports that Tyga hosted two pool parties at their home in the last few weeks, but Blac Chyna wasn't invited (and some of her belongings are still there). Some believe she is in denial about the split.  Sounds about right.  

A chick can't leave the pole without a backup plan.  So at least Chyna's got her "Lashed Bar" to keep her busy....

Hmmm.....we wonder Chyna and her wiggery will get kicked to the curb by her bestie Kim now that she's no longer dating someone "in the circle"?  Time will tell...

President Obama has issued a statement on the tragic and infuriating shooting death of Michael Brown.  Read it inside and the get the latest updates on the case....

While the country is in turmoil over the death of unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown, at the hands of a Ferguson, St. Louis police officer, Presdient Obama has issued an official statement.

Read it below:

The death of Michael Brown is heartbreaking, and Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to his family and his community at this very difficult time. As Attorney General Holder has indicated, the Department of Justice is investigating the situation along with local officials, and they will continue to direct resources to the case as needed. I know the events of the past few days have prompted strong passions, but as details unfold, I urge everyone in Ferguson, Missouri, and across the country, to remember this young man through reflection and understanding. We should comfort each other and talk with one another in a way that heals, not in a way that wounds. Along with our prayers, that’s what Michael and his family, and our broader American community, deserve.

Meanwhile, a detailed account of the entire incident, given by Michael Brown's friend, Dorian Johnson, who was with him at the time, is HERE. And is a MUST READ.  Johnson has been making his rounds telling his first-hand witness account to mainstream and local media.  And he paints a picture that many feared would be the case--an angry cop approached the boys in a hostile manner, while the boys were doing nothing but walking in an apartment complex to Johnson's home just minutes away.

Michael Brown has been accused of "reaching for the cop's gun", something that Johnson vehemently denies.  Michael was shot more than once, from 35 feet away.

Freeman Bosley, Johnson’s attorney, told MSNBC today that the police have yet to interview Johnson. In fact, Bosley said in an interview that he offered the police an opportunity to speak with Johnson, but they declined:

“They don’t want the facts. What they want is to justify what happened … what they are trying to do now is justify what happened instead of trying to point out the wrong. Something is wrong here and that’s what it is.”

Sad.

Meanwhile, a producer with KSDK reports that the police have confirmed that Brown's cause of death was a gunshot.  

Reports also state that certain aircraft has been banned from flying over Ferguson (many believe this is law enforcement's way of controlling the media fallout), the police department changed its mind about releasing the name of the cop involved "as a safety measure", and Rev. Al Sharpton has offered to pay for Michael Brown's funeral.

I’d done a lot of popcorn films, but the reinvention came when I decided to do more of the character-driven stuff that won’t be seen by as many people. But it makes people start to realize, ‘Wait a second, this guy is that guy.’”

On being a selective actor: “It’s hard not to sound disgruntled sometimes as an actor.” [..] “Look, I know that I work a lot, but I’d prefer to wait sometimes because I don’t want to just do rubbish films anymore or characters that anyone can play.”

R&B princess Ciara has reportedly called off her engagement to hot shot rapper-producer Future due to his cheating!  More inside...

When it comes to bad news in Hollywood...when it rains it pours.  First...we find out that Tyga and Blac Chyna have called off their engagement. Now...it's being reported that Ciara and Future (shown above during happier times) have split...three months after the birth of their son Future Zahir Wilburn. 

Before we try to figure out who the third couple will be, get ready to say "I Told You So".....

A source told US Magazine, "He cheated on her. Game over." Then another source said, "She's devastated. Ciara's focus now is the baby."  On Instagram, it looks like Ciara has thrown her energy back into her work.

She recently posted pics from a shoot with HBA "Hood By Air Balmain" (sans engagement ring) and hinted at work with MTV's House of Style (which is now hosted by Iggy Azalea).

She captioned the pic,"Day Was A Good Day. #CCMTVHouseOfStyle Coming Soon. I'm Gonna #DoMore Baby!:) #Zonin. Xo"

You'll recall that Future had THREE baby's mothers BEFORE Ciara hooked up with him.  One of the ladies commented on Future and his "pattern" regarding commitment.  During an exclusive interview with TheYBF in February 2013, Brittni Mealy, one of Future's baby mommas, told us:

"...I knew about his kids, he has never disowned any of them. But, I do think 3 kids by 3 different women is a pattern of some sort. He obviously loves the mothers, but something about adding a kid to the equation changes things for him."

So......is this what happened to CiCi?  Or maybe it was the "curse" of appearing on the cover of BRIDES Magazine?  You'll recall that Kelly Rowland called off her first engagement shortly after appearing on the cover as well.

“That shit sounds like a f*ckin’ car commercial or some sh*t [laughs]. That’s what y’all cheering for? This n*gga Tyga at the movie theater with Chris and sh*t.”

Iggy Azalea has given the video treatment to her “Black Widow” single featuring Rita Ora. We spotted the two on the set of the video in Hollywood and they performed the hit at the Wireless Festival last month.

In the Director X-directed video, Iggy and Rita seek revenge on an ex-boyfriend. As you may know, a female black widow spider sometimes kills her male black widow mate after having sex! The single is featured on Iggy’s debut album, The New Classic.

During last night's NYC press dinner for Oxygen's premiere of "Sisterhood of Hip Hop," our New York Corespondent caught up with "Marilyn Monroe" rapper Brianna Perry to find out how she plans to shake up the female rap game a bit.

We first peeped the Miami native back in 2012.  Now, after graduating from The University of Miami and getting a few tracks and videos under her belt, she's ready for the big leagues.

On who she wants to work with on a dream collabo: "Kanye West…his mind is so wild and he is so creative. Beyonce…I’m a huge Beyonce fan.  But def Kanye. These last few months of my life have been a period of growth for me. I recently graduated from The University of Miami and I feel like I have been going through a transition of really becoming a young woman, making more decision and really 'bossing up'. I don’t really regret anything from the past…it all got me to this point right now."

On how her family reacted to her new stardom: "My family is really supportive. They’ve been that way since the first time I picked up the mic. I just released a single on iTunes called “I’m that *itch” and they all have showed me so much love and keep encouraging me and pushing me. When you have that family support, it makes that journey a little easier."

As for what to expect from Ms. Perry, her bio in the press release for the Oxygen show says:

Describing her own music as “refreshing, young and relatable to her fans,” Brianna is restoring innocence to the female rap game and she refuses to compromise the femininity and the edge she needs to survive in today’s hip hop world.

On a new episode of Centric's "BEING", "The First Lady" Faith Evans opens up about her career and recounts beating up one of her ex-husband's groupies! Watch Faith dish on the Notorious B.I.G. inside and see Chris Bown partying with O'marion.

On Saturday, fans of Bad Boy Entertainment's former First Lady Faith Evans can watch her recount one of the legendary beatdowns she put on one of Notorious BIG's many side chicks (not Lil' Kim).  And we've already got the lowdown:

Faith: I’m ducking … trying to make it to the elevator without being seen by Hawk, the road manager. I make it to the elevator bank. Go upstairs. I knew the room. Get off on that floor, but I’m aware there’s five other guys. You know? They’re about to leave so somebody might see me ‘cause they might be going to wake [Biggie] up.

… I heard [Lil’] Cease moving around in his room so I’m trying to make it happen real fast and get to [Biggie’s] room without anybody interrupting my plan of action.

I get to the door. Knock on the door. No answer. Knock lightly again. Then I knocked a little harder. I heard [Biggie] go, “Who is it?”
I said, “Houskeeping!” I didn’t know what voice to use, anything.

The door comes open and as soon as the door came open I kicked it just so I could get in. I wasn’t sure if they were going to have the latch on. I see some chick standing there, you know, fully dressed like she had on a Catholic uniform. I mean, she obviously wasn’t a kid, but she had on a pleated miniskirt. I see him sitting over there . . . all of this was in a split second. As soon as I kicked in the door and saw her I just started to *punches fist*

I don’t even know if she got a chance to say anything and I just looked over at him as I’m still hitting her. *punches fist again*
He’s sitting there like, “Wow Faye. Why are you doing that to her? I didn’t even **** her.”  I was like, “Well you shoulda . . . ‘cause you see what happened to her.”

Damn!

On Monday night, "Loyal" singer Chris Brown joined O'Marion to celebrate the release of DJ Mustard's debut album 10 Summers (in stores now).

The party was held at Emerson nightclub (sponsored by Hennessy V.S.) and it was the first time we've seen O'marion out since the birth of his son Megaa Omari.  

Former reality tv star Laura Govan danced the night away.

Nowadays it seems everyone has an opinion on how one should raise their children, but lately it seems people have been extra concerned with how celebrity parents style their kiddies’ hair.

Much like Beyonce, “Instant Mom” actress Tia Mowry Hardrict is being bombarded with negative comments on the way she styles her 3-year-old son Cree’s hair. Just recently, people were up-in-arms over little Blue Ivy’s hair, saying Bey needed to comb it and put moisturizer in it.

Now, folks are all over Tia for the way she does her son’s hair. Some say she shouldn’t put it in a bun, that he looks like a girl and that she needs to cut it all off! Well…Tia doesn’t plan on doing any of that because she’s quite content with how she styles her son’s hair…and that’s her business!

Guess the “Baggage Claim” starlet had reached her limit and decided to address the online trolls over the negative comments she has received about her son’s natural hair. In an Instagram post, she wrote:

I am proud to have a SON that embraces his natural hair :). Hair length does not define your sex. Last I checked a penis and a vagina does. Pick up a book, educate yourself, and embrace cultures outside of your own and maybe you will see that there are PLENTY of MEN wearing top knots and MEN with long hair. Here's a shout out to all the moms who have boys and girls with natural hair! Live ON!
