Last night, Debra Lee hosted the BET Honors 2014: Pre-Dinner at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC.

Music exec Vincent Herbert and his Soul Train Award-winning wife Tamar Braxton made it a date night and were among the couples spotted on the carpet.  

Black Girls Rock founder Beverly Bond posed with her husband Bazaar Royale.

WEEN co-founder Valeisha Butterfield Jones and hubby Indiana Pacers baller Dahntay Jones had a night out without their baby boy,

New Edition member and "Apollo Live" judge Michael Bivens made an arrival with his wife Teasha. 

Music legend Smokey Robinson and Aretha Franklin shared a kiss on the carpet.  Nothing going on there but long time friendship.  They both brought their significant others as well.

The 2014 "BET HONORS" will be hosted by Wayne Brady and held at the Warner Theatre tonight and will air on BET Networks on Monday, February 24 at 9PM ET.

Angela Simmons stepped out in a white jacket and a flirty white skirt when she attended the Charlotte Ronson Fall 2014 presentation yesterday.

In her flicks, she tossed back her blonde hair and showed off her FW look.  She completed the look with a black blouse and white heels.

Stylist June Ambrose was spotted at the Lincoln Center.  She described her outfit to The Cut saying,"I love texture. Today was all about playing with texture, from the beautiful alligator clutch to the palettes on the sequined jacket, and the fur and the metallic."

Her jacket, skirt and blouse were all by Marc Jacobs.  "I wanted to capture a Mod schoolgirl look with the pencil skirt and cardigan. But I wanted it to be a little bit glam, with a nod to the roaring twenties glitz. That’s where the cape came in."

Her sweater is from Barneys, while she carried a bag by Tyler Alexander and rocked Azzedine Alaia shoes.  The hat was Custom Made From the Chapeau Chateau.

"I wanted a Crown Heights hat, so I had it custom built. I was feeling like Flatbush. This weather has been horrible. It's really windy, so you will see me with a lid every day. As soon as I take my hat off, I’ll get a head cold. Plus, it’s kind of my trademark. I love punctuation. I have maybe 30 hats."

June topped off her look with a lot of wrist action as well. She wore David Yurman, plus a Hermès bracelet and a diamond bangle from Jacob the Jeweler, and a Rolex.  Of course.

He's Kendrick Lamar. And before he rocks the stage in your city, he's likely partying it up and giving back to the locals.  We've got pics and deets about one of our fave Cali rappers living it up in South Africa inside...

When Kendrick Lamar brought his tour to Durban, South Africa this weekend, he decided to give back in a major way before hitting the stage.

Our sources tell us Kendrick, who was "really friendly and nice," dipped into one of the lower socioeconomic areas called Wentworth yesterday and posed for pics and signed autographs for the locals.  And everybody showed him mad love.

We're also told the TDE head honcho handed out free tickets to his show.  Nice!

Kendrick, spotted above arriving into South Africa, hits the stage at the Johannesburg Stadium tonight.

Gotta love him.

Rihanna is spending her days partying it up in L.A.  And it seems her off/on romance with Drake...is still on.  But in secret of course.  Pics of the two sneaking out the same nightclub last night inside....

They're always rumored to be "dating", and we use that term loosely.  And often times they're spotted trying to cover up the fact they're partying together.  Lats night was no different.  "Can't Remember To Forget You" singer Rihanna and "Trophies" rapper Drake were seen leaving Hooray Henry's Nightclub in West Hollywood via the back exit...only seconds apart.  Both singers had massive bodyguards escorting as they left the club:
 

Rihanna, in her Alaia heels, had her bestie Melissa by her side.  And Drake rocked his Bart Simpson shirt while leaving out around the same time Rih & Melissa did.

Hold off on your boycotts, petitions and Twitter outrage.  Because the promoter of that tacky "Celebrity Boxing Match" between George Zimmerman and DMX has just cancelled it....

Boxing promoter Damon Feldman just told the world that he has cancelled that horrible idea of a boxing match between George Zimmerman and rapper DMX. He tweeted this evening:

Mariah Carey slid atop a black piano and performed her new single for a star-studded crowd at last night's taping of the 2104 BET Honors.  Get inside deets about Mimi's performance before it airs...

The 2014 BET Honors were taped at Warner Theatre in Washington, DC last night and TheYBF.com was on the scene for all of the festivities and dramatics...and by dramatics, we mean the ENTRANCE of Mariah Carey.  Although Wayne Brady hosted the show, he WAS NOT the first person that the audience laid their eyes on.  

The lights go down.  You hear rumblings. Wheels.  Suddenly....the lights come up.....and Mariah Carey is just there, perched atop a fancy black piano in a dress so tight, so low-cut that you see her heart pounding (and maybe a nipple...we can't really tell).

It appeared that Mariah lip synced her new song.  No shade.  Chick probably couldn't breathe.  But she looked good.

After the performance, the light went back down, and they presumably rolled her back off the stage.  Apparently she wanted no one to see that circus act of dismounting.

The real BET Honors should go to the crew who helped her along. Others performs were Jennifer Hudson, Janelle Monae, Tamar Braxton and Smokey Robinson .
 

The 2014 "BET HONORS" will be hosted by Wayne Brady and will air on BET Networks on Monday, February 24 at 9PM ET.

Jaden Smith and "friend" Kylie Jenner were spotted lunching while Will Smith announced some big movie news.  Keep up with the Smiths inside....

Jaden Smith, whom we last saw jumping out of a plane, has safely landed back on solid ground and into the arms of constant companion Kylie Jenner.  Of course.

Jaden escorted Kylie back to her Range Rover following their lunch at Pedalers Fork restaurant in Calabasas on Saturday.  These two do a lot of out-and-aboutness to only be 16.

At the movies....

Deadline reports that Jaden's dad Will Smith informed execs at FOX that he won't be returning for their anticipated Independence Day sequel (expected July 4th, 2016).  The original, which went on to gross $815M worldwide, helped cement Will as the world's most bankable actor.  News of Will's rejection may turn out to be the golden ticket for Michael B. Jordan.  

Rumor has it that execs are now looking at the Fruitvale Station star to fill Will's shoes.  It could work...

The Carters are on the move again.  The couple took a break from the frozen tundra that is NYC to head to the warm weather of the Dominican Republic.  And they had Roc Nation Sports client& DR native Robinson Cano along with them.

The Carters were snapped walking through Euphoria Club in Santo Domingo, DR Saturday night...and it looks like Julian had to be on top of his security ish that night.

TheYBF.com was on the scene of last night's taping of the 2014 BET HONORS at The Warner Theatre, and we've got inside scoop on what you'll see BEFORE it airs.  More inside.....

One of the year's most exciting "feel good" events, the 2014 BET Honors, had witnessed Aretha Franklin (get into her mink!), Berry Gordy, Kenneth Chenault, Ice Cube, Nelson Mandela and Carrie Mae Weems being honored for their many contributions to our culture. In addition to a bosom-popping performance from Mariah Carey, Wayne Brady (who hosted), performed Ginuwine's "Pony" with two dancers and plenty of water.  Yeah...

Actor Joe Morton (aka Papa Pope!) introduced honoree Kenneth Chenault.

Tamar Braxton looked stunning on the red carpet (shown above with mom Evelyn Braxton and husband Vincent Herbert at the afterparty).  Tamar performed a tribute to honoree Berry Gordy, which included a medley of Diana Ross hits "Do You Know Where You're Going To" and "Upside Down".  

She told the crowd that when she and his sisters were younger, they pretended to be The Supremes and fought over who would play Miss Ross. Who do you think snatched that crown...her or Toni?

Honoree Berry Gordy attended with the fab Eskedar Gobeze. During his acceptance speech he talked about founding Motown, calling it a dream come true. After his introduction from Smokey Robinson, he joked about straight men and their "bromances".  Oh.

Jennifer Hudson (along with Karen Clark Sheard) both performed tributes to Aretha Franklin.  Jennifer's tribute included "Rock Steady" and "Respect" while Karen sang "Amazing Grace."  Jenny's looking great by the way. 

Honoree Aretha Franklin was introduced by Al Sharpton.  During her's tribute, her granddaughter Victory sang Tamela Mann's"Take Me To The King." 

And about that fur coat she rocked at the beginning (PETA better not play with her), she explained that the coat "protected her voice from the cold air inside the building."  She tossed that mug on the floor during her own tribute her Nelson Mandela like a true diva.

Janelle Monae also performed a tribute to Berry Gordy, which including her own take on some Jackson 5 classics. 

Ludacris (shown above with BET's Stephen Hill) did the introduction to honoree Ice Cube.  He joked about Cube writing songs that used to be far from honorable. 

During his acceptance speech, Ice Cube said he never thought he's shared the stage with people like Berry Gordy and Aretha.  He ended his speech by thanking his wife...who was there for him when he went from getting letters from the FBI - to playing an FBI agent on tv.  Ride or die!

And Judge Mathis arrived with wife Linda.

College football star, who is set to enter the 2014 NFL draft, Michael Sam just made a brave announcement to the world that he is gay.  Check out his interview inside and get into his amazing story....

In a major announcement--which really shouldn't be that major in 2014 but it is since he's possibly about to make history--Missouri University football player Michael Sam just revealed in a national interview that he is a gay man.  And if the Associated Press' SEC Defensive Player of the Year does get drafted, he will become the first openly gay NFL player.

Speaking to ESPN a few months before the 2014 draft, he said:

  "I understand how big this is.  It's a big deal. No one has done this before. And it's kind of a nervous process, but I know what I want to be ... I want to be a football player in the NFL."

But Michael, who dated another athlete (who wasn't a football player) at school, said his close friends already knew.   Still, coming out was still a bit scary:

"I didn't realize how many people actually knew, and I was afraid that someone would tell or leak something out about me," he said. "I want to own my truth. ... No one else should tell my story but me."

"Coaches just wanted to know a little about ourselves, our majors, where we're from, and something that no one knows about you," Sam said. "And I used that opportunity just to tell them that I was gay. And their reaction was like, 'Michael Sam finally told us.' "

Asked what that moment felt like, Sam said,

"I was kind of scared, even though they already knew. Just to see their reaction was awesome. They supported me from Day One. I couldn't have better teammates. ... I'm telling you what: I wouldn't have the strength to do this today if I didn't know how much support they'd given me this past semester."

And the small town Texas native explained how he first discovered his sexuality, and why his past hardships prepared him fro this moment:

"I knew from a young age that I was attracted to guys," he said, "I didn't know if it was a phase ... I didn't want to say, 'Hey, I might be gay. I might be bi.' I just didn't know ... I wanted to find who I was and make sure I knew what was comfortable. So I didn't tell anyone growing up."

"I endured so much in my past: seeing my older brother killed from a gunshot wound, not knowing that my oldest sister died when she was a baby and I never got the chance to meet her. My second oldest brother went missing in 1998, and me and my little sister were the last ones to see him ... my other two brothers have been in and out of jail since 8th grade, currently both in jail.

Congrats to Michael for living in his truth.  And, if drafted, encouraging others to do the same in professional sports.

Oh Kenya.  Leave it to the resident messy "RHOA" star, who actually makes plenty of sense sometimes, to spill some pre-tea about what really went down with that pajama fight.

WHat Kenya had to say about last night's foolery inside...

After Part 2 of that foolish pajama throw down aired last night, Kenya hit up "WWHL" to say who she blames for it all.  And she's pointing the finger at NeNe Leakes, the "host" of that Pillow Talk set-up.

Kenya revealed that she thinks jealousy plays a part in NeNe's sour attitude toward her (when NeNe popped off on Kenya at the spa). She says NeNe had all these Hollywood jobs and didn't need "RHOA", but now that those Hollywood jobs are non-existent, Mrs. Leakes may view Kenya as her "replacement".  And about the entire situation, Kenya prepped us for some tea she's going to spill at the upcoming reunion about it all:

"It was more to it, but I'll save that for the reunion and hopefully production will back me up. It was a lot more to it. This is a woman I considered to be my friend. I spent Thanksgiving with her and in Savannah. I was a NeNe fan. Then out of nowhere she just attacks me....I've never seen anything like it."

Kenya also took Cynthia's side in that dust up with Kandi & Todd, but she had some words for her as well: 

"Cynthia is not an aggressive person. She talks with her hands. Everyone knows that. I just don't feel she meant anything aggressive by the way she was talking. But I wasn't there. I really didn't appreciate how she didn't have my back when she was here and blamed the whole situation on me."

"It just goes to show you how a lot of times, NeNe has these puppets and makes them dance. And I feel bad about that."

Ashanti, who collabo'd with Keyshia Cole on "Woman To Woman", has announced that BRAVEHEART finally has a release date.  The new album will hit stores on March 4, 2014.

She's dropping the video for "I Got It" featuring Rick Ross this week on "106th and Park" and VEVO.  We've also learned that she'll shoot the video for her next single, "First Real Love," later this month in Jamaica with Beenie Man.

This album has been pushed back so many times, we have our fingers crossed for her.
 

The Randomness:

1.  The story of the Cali law student who was shot on the streets of NYC in broad daylight last year has taken an interesting turn.  It's reported that the slain law student and "Cookout" actor Quran Pender (who ended up not coming to NY with him), were involved in a cocaine operation, and the murder was a hit. 2.  Nike pulled a Beyonce and put out Kanye West's previously shelved Red October sneakers at 1p on Sunday on their website.  The $300 sneakers sold out in under 10 minutes, and are now being resold for millions!  STORY

Others spotted over the weekend included Jamie Foxx, FrenchMontana and Ramona Rizzo from "Mob Wives".
 

Joseph 'Fat Joe' Cartagena was at the conference to launch his Market America UnFranchise. In a press release from Market America, he said “I feel like I’m definitely an entrepreneur first and foremost, and it’s time to take that to another level. I can now teach anyone, who is willing to grind it out, how to build the kind of lifestyle few ever get a chance to experience.”

Tyler Perry's been on a health kick these days.  And now he's giving back.  He and ESSENCE Magazine have joined forces with to produce "Black Men in Hollywood." The event will be launched during OSCAR week and will salute the exceptional work of breakthrough and trailblazing performers and visionaries.  ESSENCE Editor-in-Chief Vanessa K. Bush said,

"Throughout the year, ESSENCE has chronicled the multitude of extraordinary performances and unforgettable moments in the pages of the magazine and on Essence.com.  To be invited by our friend Tyler Perry to partner in this intimate celebration of Black cinema during OSCAR® week is especially significant, as we salute some of the most powerful, authentic and multi-dimensional images we've seen on screen—images that serve to inspire our young men of color."

The intimate celebration will also spotlight The California Endowment's influential Sons & Brothers (#sonsandbrothers) campaign, which acknowledges those stand-out achievers who are vital role models for young men of color.  Black Men in Hollywood will precede ESSENCE's annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon, which will be held at the Beverly Hills Hotel on February 27, 2014.

After T.I. & Tiny tried to downplay a very public fight during GRAMMY weekend, it looks like all isn't as perfect as they're trying to make it seem.  T.I. is putting his girl on blast for flossing her ASSets constantly.  And Tiny is popping off about cheating accusations...and she seems unbothered about where exactly Clifford is putting his piece.

A few weeks ago, Tiny, her daughter Zonnique, and friends took a trip to some warm sandy beaches (above).  And they posted pics all over IG.  There was no shortage of ass shots of Tiny in a bikini (she had to show off her doc's work some type of way).

Just in time for Valentine's Day....

Mariah Carey is gearing up for a new album and we have deets about the first single.  Find out about Mariah's return to radio inside and get the deets on Babyface's engagement.  

Mariah Carey plans to release her next single in two days. The announcement came via Instagram where Mimi posted the V-Day candy themed artwork for the single “You’re Mine (Eternal),” which will premiere on Wednesday, February 12. She debuted the song over the weekend at the taping of the BET Honors.

The track will appear on her follow-up to 2009′s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, which will hit stores on May 6.  Wale, Nas, Rick Ross, Hit-Boy, Mike WiLL Made-It, and Jermaine Dupri (also the executive producer) will all appear on the album.

In other Mariah news, she and Nick Cannon have put their Bel Air mansion on the market for $12.99 million. The 11,750-square-foot home has seven bathrooms and nine bathrooms.  Looks like they're making a move either back to NYC fully...or an even bigger mansion in Cali.

Jamie Foxx loves himself some models.  And since he was in Miami hitting up the 2014 Market America conference this weekend, he also made an appearance at the fifth annual Model Beach Volleyball Tournament.

The annual two-day event features models from the best agencies competing against each other in a co-ed beach volleyball tournament.  So you already know, Jamie was there front and center:

Kelis just served another tasty morsel from the upcoming "Food" disc.  Listen to "Rumble" inside, plus check out the YBF folks at today's Academy Awards Luncheon...

With an expected release date of April 22nd, Kelis has released another track from her next project, FOOD. "Rumble" produced by Dave Sitek.

And in L.A. today, Pharrell and Lupita Nyong'o were amongst the Oscar Nominee class of 2014 as they celebrated at the annual luncheon at the Beverly Hilton. 

Lupita, who is up for Best Supporting Actress In A Motion Picture, posed it up in a spring-like frock with a fellow YBF chick,  Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Cheryl Boone Isaacs.  Yes ladies!

The reigning red carpet queen rocked a soft pink floral Christian Dior frock, Paul Andrew blue velvet pumps and a Judith Leiber clutch.

And Pharrell kept to his usual look.  With yet another Vivienne Westwood smokey the bear hat.

Kelly Rowland turns 33 today.  And she's looking more fabulous than ever.  Celebrate with the singer inside....

Kelly Rowland, who went from one part of Destiny's Child to a solo star with abs of steel, celebrates her 33rd birthday today.  Kelly's celebration comes along with some bittersweet news this week...."X-Factor", where she served as a judge this past season, was cancelled by Fox.  Though Kelly will no longer have a platform to showcase her sexy style on a weekly basis, she leaves singing the praises of Simon Cowell to the BBC,

“You know what? It was an incredible experience and I made new friends. “You’ve got to think about the fact there’s American Idol, The Voice and all these new shows that are coming up. But I have to compliment Simon because he started it all with American Idol.”

At least now, Kelly can completely focus on her upcoming fifth studio album and wedding to fiance Tim Witherspoon.  And serving up more hotness with more bikini time on Miami Beach...her fave place.
