Kerry Washington & Don Cheadle Dish On Race In Hollywood--The GOOD & The BAD

 photo ScreenShot2013-06-06at100655AM_zps5b1e8666.png

Kerry Washington & Don Cheadle, two of our absolute faves, are gearing up for the Primetime Emmys.  And they had a very interesting discussion with Variety as part of their Primetime Emmy series.

Check out what the top YBF actors have to say about how their race in Hollywood has affected their success--and it's not all bad.

 photo ScreenShot2013-06-06at100645AM_zpsca47435f.png

These two smarties always seem to always pick the very best roles in Hollywood.  But as Don Cheadle (star of "House of Lies" and Iron Man 3) explained, it's not always totally their choice.  Check out what he and "Scandal"/Django Unchained star Kerry have to say about how race has helped them get tot he top of the Hollywood mountain.

On being defined by your race in Hollywood

Don: I think I'm somewhat defined by my race for sure.  And I'm good with that.  I actually want that to be a part of the storyline.  I don't believe in colorblind casting.  It should be fodder for your work and we should use all aspects of ourselves.  I find a place where that can have an impact on my work.  As opposed to us saying, 'Oh we're all the same'.

On comparing racism to sexism in Hollywood

Don: Well, sexism...I'm loving it.  Being named a sex symbol.  Getting pinched on the butt cheeks at this age?  Yeah. (Laughs)  But it's definitely not the same thing for [Kerry].

Kerry: I've been able to do things as a woman in this business I wouldn't have the opportunity to do as a man. Just like with Ray, I wouldn't have been able to play Ray Charles' wife if I wasn't a black woman.  So, it sometimes makes things more challenging, but it also has allowed for unique experiences like Hotel Rwanda and Ray and Last King, roles that really use our gender and our race.

On lack of opportunities for people of color in Hollywood

Don: It depends on when you ask the question.  If this was 1971, there would be tons of opportunities for black people in movies.  Not sure if you would want to be in all of them, but you would be like yeah, I've got 5 auditions today.  Then that went away and there was a resurgence of other blaxsploitation films with the gangster films like Boyz In The Hood, Menace II Society and Dead Presidents--movies with black heroes and anti heros.  At that time, there was a lot of work.

But where we are right now, there's not enough for anybody.  So the people who are already marginalized (people of color) are going to have even less.

On how their tv roles have helped promote "crossover"

Kerry: The woman who runs my digital social media came up with this idea when I was on the cover of Ebony--a contest for followers to take a pic of themselves with me on the cover of EBONY magazine.  And the most creative we would send the an autographed copy.  It was a neat way to engage followers on  line.  It was so moving because you had all these pictures of white women going to buy EBONY magazine or Latin women and people overseas going into international magazine stores.  Suddenly, because of the power of the TV show, people were crossing over into racial categories and social interests they never would have before.  These people wouldn't normally even purchase this magazine.

Here's the full 30-minute talk where the actors have some fun talking about the ins and out sof Hollywood, how life (a black President and acceptance of the GLBT community in society) has imitated art and more:

Alicia Keys Rocks MARIE CLAIRE UK Cover, Reveals What She's LEARNED From Swizz Beatz + Logan Browning HITS THE FLOOR For "KONTROL"

 photo Alicia-Keys-1.jpg

Alicia Keys covers the July issue of MARIE CLAIRE UK where she dishes on traveling, becoming a film director and what she's learned from Swizz Beatz.  See the highlights inside and see "Hit The Floor" star Logan Browning in KONTROL magazine.

Alicia Keys jetted to the Bahamas for the steamy July cover of Marie Claire UK magazine.  And we're absolutely loving this dress for the cover shot.

While modeling looks from Gucci, Diane von Furstenberg, Versace and Just Cavalli, the "Girl On Fire" singer opened up about her loving of traveling,

'Im really looking forward to having a really incredible time on my travels. I think that to be able to tour and travel the world at this time in my life is different than any other time, and I'm really looking forward to experiencing it in a way I never have before. I'm going to places I've never been, you know, it's a lot of growth, so I'm excited.'

Also, she talked to the magazine about asking for what she wants, becoming a film director and how she's grown to appreciate her husband and his over the top personality. Here are the highlights:

On Swizz Beatz being "over the top"...

'Swizz will have the fastest car, the biggest jewellery, the loudest jacket; everything with him is really over the top. I used to see him and think, "He is so annoying".'

On what she's learned from Swizz Beatz...

'I think we've taught each other a lot.  He's taught me to live more fully and I think I've taught him to live more deeply.'

On writing songs about her husband:

'"That's When I Knew" is definitely an ode to my husband... Honestly I didn't really like him that much. I thought he was too ostentatious.'

On becoming vocal about her feelings...

'You have to speak up. To say, 'I don't like that, it's not cool, don't do that to me', but it's not easy, especially with people you love. I think getting older has made me evolve in a lot of ways and made me more relaxed about saying how I feel, no matter what.'

On maintaining balance...

'I realise you have to have a balance - you can live life and have more experiences as well as working.'

On becoming a director...

'I fell in love with directing. Because first of all I didn't have to get up early for make-up and, second, I'm a very diplomatic individual.'

Fomer child star Logan Browning (Bratz: The Movie, "Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns") turned VH1's new spicy "Hit The Floor" star posed for the beauty issue of KONTROL which features pieces on “What to Wear Now” column and segments on secrets to obtaining soft skin and luxurious hair. While opening up to KONTROL, Logan talked about making the on-screen switch from teen roles to more adult fan fare and how she hoped to be received by Hollywood and her fans. Here are the highlights:

On taking on more mature roles in Hollywood:

“I’m excited for people to see me as older because I see people online going, ‘Wow I’m sure she’s going to be really beautiful when she grows up,’ and I’m like, ‘I am grown up!’” laughs Logan. “Playing older is fun because I feel like I’ve been 16 for so long.”

On playing a bad girl:

“At first I wasn’t really keen to it I guess,” explains the actress. “I wanted to be the nice girl and play the sweet girl, but as it’s gone on, it’s been a lot of fun. I love hearing everyone’s reactions after we do takes. They’re just like, ‘God you’re evil! It’s been a challenge, but an enjoyable one.” Despite Jelena’s antagonizing ways, Logan still believes there’s something that young women can learn from her role. “I don’t know if it’s my character that I would want them to emulate, but I still think there is something about this character that people are going to look up to and respect and love.”

Not going to lie.  We're actually feeling "Hit The Floor."  It's better acting than "SIingle Ladies" at least.  Check out the Beauty issue here.

Is BET Looking To Replace Paigion, Shorty Da Prince & Miss Mykie On "106 & Park"....For Angela Simmons Or Others?

0

 photo 106park-host_zps22385093.jpeg

A one week vacay for co-hosts of a daily show won't raise any eyebrows.  But we're going on several weeks now since "106 & Park hosts Shorty da Prince, Paigion and Miss Mykie have appeared on their show.  And tongues are wagging about BET possibly replacing the three newbies with one or more new co-hosts.  And Angela Simmons is possibly the front runner.

Deets inside...

Last fall, BET introduced new co-hosts Bow Wow, Shorty Da Prince, Miss Mykie & Paigion once Terrence J. and Rocsi said their good-byes.  And less than a year later, things have already taken a mysterious turn.

We always thought it would interesting to see how a 2-co-hosts format could flip into a multi co-host format.  And it seems BET wasn't that pleased with how the new setup is working out.

Our source who works on the set of "106 & Park" tells us that last month when Angela Simmons did her first co-hosting stint, it was BET's idea to bring her back (after she was a recent guest) to test out her co-hosting skills with Bow Wow.  Allegedly, they wanted to see if ratings spiked while Angela, Bow's ex, was on the show.

Things must have gone well, because she returned for the rest of the week.  And has appeared a few times since then.  And in the TV world, when you see a celeb turning up more than once on a talk show to "guest host," it's almost always a situation where they are being tested out for a possible new slot on the show.

And while we've barely seen Shorty, Mykie & P since last month, BET sent out a press release stating that celebs would be taking over as co-hosts with Bow all this week--from Angela to Adrienne Bailon to Draya Michele.  Looks like everybody wants to be a co-host.

We reached out to couple Shawty & Paigion's publicist to see what was going on, and have yet to receive a response.  But their fans have been blowing up their instagrams asking where they are....and if Angela Simmons is taking their spot.  They've also been Retweeting fans who are begging BET to bring them back.

The couple has avoided speaking on the situation, but continue to post cutesy photos of themselves chillin' at home in Jersey and back in P's hometown of Detroit.

They've also been making appearances at schools and shooting for The Source magazine.

We're not going to use the words "They're fired" just yet.....but things are looking iffy at best...

CAUGHT ON TAPE: First Video Of First Lady Michelle Obama READING The Heckler + Diddy BREAKS OUT His "Private Jet" Dance

 photo ht_michelle_obama_heckled_lpl_130605_wmain.jpg

It was the "reading" heard around the world as FLOTUS Michelle Obama took on a heckler during a DNC fundraiser this week. Watch the recently released footage inside and see Diddy busting out his hilarious "Jet Dance" on his own private jet....with Cassie.

A few days ago, FLOTUS Michelle Obama went in on Ellen Sturtz, a lesbian activist, who interrupted her remarks at a DNC fundraiser to demand that President Obama sign an anti-discrimination executive order.

Now that video of the confontation has emerged, we get to see Mrs. Obama and her bangs swoop off the lectern and into action!  And for the record, President Obama and The White House stand by the First Lady.

“It is my opinion that she handled it brilliantly,” a spokesperson said.

And somewhere in front of a private jet....

As Diddy preps to launch his music-themed cable network "Revolt" next month, he posted a video of himself today dancing in front of his private jet.  This guy is really going to get #DiddyJetDance trending all over the globe!

Hip Hop heads all know that Diddy got his start as a background dancer so it's no surprise he busted a move on the tarmac and the jet with the airport staff looking mad confused.  Hilar!  With Cassie watching him from her seat on the jet, Diddy pops and locks to Problem's"Like Whaaat" featuring Bad Lucc.

Corporate Hood.  Loves it!

Keyshia performed her first concert ever in London on Tuesday.  So she took advantage of her husband being right there by her side and also stopped in the romantic city of Paris yesterday for her show there.  And today, they twosome rolled to Amsterdam (pictured above) for Keyshia's show there tomorrow night.

The reality star Instagrammed pics of the shopping trip her husband laced her with in Paris.  And Boobie said he wanted to shower his wife with gifts to make her smile, and said, "Livin everyday to see that smile.. Baby Luvin it so I'm all G! #WhatUTwerkinWith."

Keyshia got a littel carried away with the emoticons while showing off her purchases.

And despite all the drama from a  few months ago that had everybody thinking these two were publicly beefing with each other, especially after that hard-to-watch reality show everything looks all good:

As BET continues to test out new co-hosts, "Basketball Wives: LA" star and Ciroc girl Draya Michele was on deck Thursday evening.  Check out pics of the reality chick and Bow Wow getting their flirt on inside...

If today was an on-screen chemistry test to see if Draya Michele could become a new co-host on "106 & Park," she played up the flirty vixen role in order to pass.

The L.A. party girl made her way to BET's daily video countdown show to guest co-host with Bow Wow.  Rocking a tight pink cut-out mini dress and  sexy heels, Draya had some fun on the flirtatious tip with the rapper.  And she also answered questions about her swimsuit line, basketball, and a round of #AskDraya Twitter questions from fans (most were hilariously slanderish so we assume BET had an interesting time weeding through these for TV).

Amber recently told E! News about working with celeb trainer Jeanette Jenkins, ‘I have a really good personal trainer.  Her name is Jeanette Jenkins. Yeah, I work out every day.  It's hard to get off baby weight. It's a different kind of weight because for nine months you stretch your stomach out and then it's hard to get that back. I'm working on it. I lost like thirty-some pounds already.’

Lookin' good...

SPORTS SHOCKS: Top Ranked Serena Williams Reaches The FRENCH OPEN Finals! + USA's Justin Gatlin BEATS "The World's Fastest Man" Usain Bolt!

 photo serena.jpeg

Serena Williams, the #1 tennis player in the world, is heading to the French Open Finals for the first time in eleven years! Get the deets inside and watch USA track superstar Justin Gatlin run to victory over Usain Bolt...

For the first time since 2002, Serena Williams, who's currently the #1 ranked tennis player in the world, is heading into the French Open finals. Though Serena's last appearance in the finals was a long time ago, her defeat of Sara Errani yesterday (6-0, 6-1) solidified her dominance of the sport. The NY Times described the battle this was,"The match was a virtually flawless session that looked much more like a practice for Williams than a Grand Slam semifinal."

Although Serena only made 12 unforced errors and won 52 points to Sara's 16, she wasn't overly cocky during the post-game interview, and stressed that every game is different.  She said her upcoming battle with Maria Sharapova on Saturday could prove very challenging.

"That’s why I really just — every day that I’m doing well, I try to do the best I can. And when I’m not, I just try to fight through it, because my forehand, my backhand, my serve, anything could happen.”

And while she's very focused on Saturday, Serena has been able to soak in her victory and reflect on her long journey to the open.

"I'm very happy to be back in the French Open final 11 years later," Williams told the crowd in French. (Yes...Serena has an apartment in Paris AND she speaks French!) "I'm still here 11 years later. It's so wonderful for me."

Congrats 'Rena!

In other sports news....

 photo 201306061518550925406-p2.jpeg

Jamaican-born sprinter Usain Bolt may hold the world 100m record, but he was met with a stunning defeat yesterday as 31-year-old American sprinter, Justin Gatlin, sped past him with a 9.94 victory (to Usain's 9.95) in Rome yesterday.  Work!

After the match, Usain shrugged off the defeat, calling it a on-off. "The one-offs are never for me. It’s all about the World Championships. I’ve got two months to get it right. You learn more from losing. You can’t win every race in your career, I’ve learned that."

Meanwhile, Justin basked in his own victory, but still paid homage to Usain and what he's brought to the sport.

‘It felt good. It’s an honor to be able to race against him and compete against him. He’s an inspiration for the sport. He’s inspired me to be a better runner and a better entertainer for the fans.

I just want to be able to give him some competition when he’s at top form. He’s a legend and I want to go out and just fight for the end. Much respect.’

After the upset from the 2012 Olympics, it's good to see USA showing that 2016 is going to be FAB.  Watch the USA's victory here:

TOP MODEL Joan Smalls POSES For "Net-A-Porter", DISHES On DOMINATING The Fashion Industry And INTIMIDATING Other Models

 photo netaporters6.jpg

Joan Smalls, the top ranked model in the world, posed for net-a-porter and opened up about her top model status and how she intimidates other chicks on the runway.  Get the deets inside...

 photo netaport3.jpg

Puerto Rican beauty Joan Smalls, whom we told you is the #1 model in the world (based on high demand from photographers, fashion editors, global brands, magazines and fashion show producers) just shot a colorful spread for the luxe shopping site net-a-porter's digital magazine, The Edit.

Under the creative direction of Editor-in-Chief Lucy Yeomans, Joan posed it up for famed photographer Mario Testino, while modeling his exclusive MATE clothing and accessories collection.

Speaking about her experience with Mario, Joan told the magazine, 'It is always such an honor to work with Mario, so I love that he mentioned me in connection to this collection. He always creates such a beautiful story that embraces you and takes you on a ride."

During her interview, Joan, (who's starred in H&M denim, Prabal Gurung, Estée Lauder, Givenchy, John Paul Gaultier and Stella McCartney) talked to the magazine about her dominance of the industry and joked about intimidating other models on the runway. Here are the highlights:

On dominating the industry as the world's most sought after model:

'I think of myself as an empire. I am super- ambitious, but also believe in superstition, so I never show all my cards.
'It is about being associated with luxury brands, being in fragrance and cosmetic campaigns, or creating your own line of whatever it may be, so people associate your name with something, rather than what you are just the face of.'

On intimidating other models:

'I like to mess with the other girls. We stare each other out as we walk past and try to make the other girl smile. I play with Karlie [Kloss], but she has her game face on and never cracks, but on Karmen [Pedaru] and Abbey Lee [Kershaw] it works.  The trick is to do it when you’re going back and they are coming towards the camera, so nobody knows it’s me!'

Foxy Brown's EMOTIONAL Interview! BK's Don Diva TELLS ALL To Combat Jack -- Jay-Z & Beyonce, Skin Color Insecurities, Hearing Loss Drama & How She Turned Into A BAD GIRL At 14

0
0

 photo foxybrown_zps87d494db.jpg

It's the interview we've been waiting years to hear.  Straight from the 34-year-old Brooklyn Don Diva's mouth, we now know everything to set the record straight about rapper Foxy Brown and her relationships with her father and other men, changing the rap game as a brown skinned girl, her friendships with Lauryn Hill & Nicki Minaj, her mess-ups and the mature place she's in now.

Check out the extremely emotional interview inside with the Combat Jack Show...

From her long time relationship with Jay-Z and the disgustingly false story about Jay that she NEVER told to how an educated good-girl became the queen of Ill Na Na at the tender age of 14...Foxy Brown is dishing ALL.  In an interview with Combat Jack, who she goes way back with from when he was a lawyer in the business, Inga Marchand left it all on the table.  She said she was saving all of her true story for Oprah, but flipped it and connected with her long time friend instead.

 photo 169846977_zpsc8ead174.jpg

(Pictured above with Emily B. and Raekwon at last week's Summer Jam XX) And we're happy she did.  Because this is the realest ish we've heard about Inga's life...not just Foxy's....ever.  She's been one of our idols since junior high, and from the interview, we learn that she was the same 14-year-old good girl as most of us before she met the intoxicating men of the streets.  And her rap career made history from that point out.

It's been a major 20 years for Fox Boogie in this business, and here's highlights from how she gives her whole story on The Combat Jack Show:

On growing up as an educated good girl who turned "bad" with street guys:

"There was something that intrigued me about the projects. I didn't come from that. I grew up in Park Slope in a brownstone. My parents were hard working Trinidadians and I was raised by an educator (my mother). My brothers were ball players. I used to go to my girlfriends' houses in East NY and BedStuy after school (when I was like 14) and there would be the guys parked on the corner in the Mercedes 190 E.  Witht he mesh tank tops. That's the scene I would go to and that would be my escape."

On dating Haitian Jack (legendary gangster who stong-armed himself into Jimmy Henchman's, Tupac's, and Biggie's circles) when she was just 14 and 15-years-old

"At that time, light skin chicks were in. I came in and changed that.  I met him in East NY and he was like who is this dark shorty? Clear skin, hair is kinda good. I just knew OF the legend of "Haitian Jack." He took me to Jacob's (Jacob the Jeweler) the first time we met. I started out EARLY. And once a good girl's gone bad, she's gone forever. But he was that street dude who could still take me to my meetings with Lyor Cohen and with American Express while he's wearing his snakeskin boots. He always taught me to 'stay in my mirrors'."

 photo fdf908f2c7ed11e28e2c22000a1fb747_7_zps2c8cdeb3.jpg

On growing up insecure about her dark skin

Lauryn [Hill] came in first as the dark skin chick on the scene. And the dark skin she represented was more natural and beautiful. Light skin, long hair...cool. No disrespect to light skin women. But when you see a bad, dark skin chocolate chick, it's like Wow. I absolutely was not always comfortable in my skin. Lauryn and I used to talk about that all the time. I had the worst insecurity. My mother is very light skin from Trinidad and my brothers are too and I'm the only one in my family who is dark, besides my dad.  My mom always tried to make me feel better by saying she wanted to go to the beach to get darker.  But I think we all have that..even my nieces who are dark have that innate insecurity.  I also always had keen features so...

On first discovering her power with rap

I discovered it when my dad up and left.  My parents divorced and he left at a really early age.  I have two brothers and I'm the baby.  They tried t fill the void but couldn't.  When he left, he started getting high and it got really bad.  I used to come off tour and roll up to his welding shop and he would be shriveled up sitting on a crate.  And that hurt me.  But he was still my King.  When I look back at the guys I've dated, I picked some crazy ones.  And it's because I was rebelling.  My pops just left...and left me to find out from these dudes how I should be treated.  So I said, I'm going to flip it and do THEM dirty.  So I got that power and got that nickname "Ill Na Na".  And the statement that made when I was so young....   I had to get permission from the OG Foxy Brown to use her name.  There's no way I would use Pam Grier's name without asking her first.  And she told me to take the name and make it bigger than her.

On who influenced her to start her hip hop career

I was totally into dancehall back then.  Not even hip hop.  But the only one who did it for me, who was the dark skinned one who was educated and had all the dudes on her and didn't care what chicks said--was Roxanne Shante.

She's my big sister to this day.  No disrespect to other females, but Roxanne did it for me.  It was the power she had--the crazy fur, the chocolate skin, and she would open her mouth and be so articulate.  And at that moment I knew that's what I wanted.

On physical abuse and not having a father shielding her from the harshness of the business

"Yeah, me and my girlfriends went through the same thing.  We thought that was the guy who loved us, the ones who got physical.  He's getting physical so...

But I started to know that was wrong when I did the cover of New York Magazine in 2005.  Four of us did it--Beyonce, myself, Star Jones and Teri Woods, the author.  Not sure why they pulled us four, but they said we were all at the top of our game.  Star and Beyonce had their dads there, Teri and I didn't.  We were asked if it made a difference that even though we're all here in the same place in our careers, that we didn't have our dads but Beyonce and STar did.   Beyonce was asked if it helped having Mr. Knowles there taking all the shots and covering up your boo boos and saying "Oh it's OK baby" when you got hurt.  And instead of (like Foxy) having to take all the shots herself.  And Beyonce said, "Absolutely."  And she said it made her know which men to allow in next to her.  The father sets the bar so high, so the dude knows what he has to measure up to be."

On if she made Jay relevant with "Aint No N*gga"

I always have to correct people about this.  Jay was always Jay.  He was that dude whether he was going out of town or on the streets.  When I came in,  I don't think Jay saw past the streets and "Can't Knock The Hustle."  When my records crossed over and went pop and went #1 all over, like our "Aint No N*gga", the format of that record is so hip hop.  It changed him.  My allegiance to Jay is so real I just knew I had to be there and be on stage with him at his shows.  I'll always do that.

On her current relationship with Jay-Z

Jay doesn't allow ANYONE around him who causes discord.  That's why he is where he is now.  When I read his book Decoded, I said, if there's any young black dude out here who doesn't look up to this dude, something's wrong.  He's a street dude and he took the shots.  And he's leading by example.  I didn't have a female to say to me "this is what it is" while I was coming up.  So I tell every young dude to pick up this book.  The first thing Jay did when he was named President of Def Jam, he reached back and signed me--the person who he started with.  He's never said not one bad thing about me.  So when that false story came out about me talking about him, it's like, why would I say those things about him?

On the completely fabricated story about Foxy supposedly speaking badly about Jay and Beyonce in a book

"I stood up for him and Bey because I love both of them.  That took me back.  I was ready to lace my Timbs up and go back to old Inga because it was so disrespectful.  The slander. It was disrespectful to me and all of the people who have done things for me.  Do you understand I can hear now because of Jay-Z?" [Foxy got emotional and broke down and said she needed to go to a break]

"....People believed something that wasn't even a story, it never was said.  It's not about immortalizing Jay, it's about me having a reputation.  I'm always coy about my personal life.  There was no story, no audio, no interview....just someone maybe in Milwaukee somewhere just made up some story. When a story is saying YOU said someone is a controversial and someone gave you Herpes...when you're insulting people's families that's a different level.  Jay-Z is someone who I love and respect dearly and he's always been nothing but great to me and my family period. Beyonce has been nothing but classy and sweet and loving and respectful to me.  Those are my friends.  They were disrespected.  I was disrespected.

I come from a time of real journalism and now, this new day in age someone can just sit behind a computer and say whatever.  Even the tone of the article was so ill-written.  The words and grammar used, it's not even me.  My mom is an educator.  And anyone who knows me knew immediately I don't speak like that.  And all these little hip hop sites just ran with it..."

 photo nicki-minaj-081412aaa-15_zpse1d415e5.jpg

On her longtime friendship with Nicki Minaj

"She and I had a conversation because I see so much of me in her.  I said, "I took the shots....I kicked the doors down and opened them back up...I did the jail time...and I've made a ton of mistakes." I sit back and laugh at all these girls calling themselves a "bad girl."  And no shots at Rihanna.  I love her and she supported me when she posted that pic of me and Kate Moss for W from a long time ago.   I was a REAL bad girl. I took the shots.  I was sassy and wouldn't take any sh*t from anyone.  It wasn't concocted and it wasn't fake.  So I tell Nicki she doesn't have to do that.  Lil Kim and I came in and changed the landscape.  There have been many girls after that who have tried to do the same thing.  But they're coming out with a group of guys and just putting on a bikini.  So I tell Nicki she doesn't have to do all that, she's amazing and talented.  She can do it herself."

On losing her hearing

The next morning after finalizing her and Jay's "Come Fly With Me" track, it was being sent to Z100 and they were gearing up to shoot the video in 2 days--which she knew would be their biggest track: [Very emotional] "I woke up the next morning and couldn't hear anything.  Jay is the first person I told.  We had what we knew what be the biggest pop record, and we couldn't tell anybody.  We had just shot the cover of XXL--President Carter and his cabinet.  Foxy, LeBron, Kanye, us four on the cover and I was the first lady.  Jay said he's going to put his entire life...." [Foxy breaks down again]

It was a quiet that will drive your crazy.  I had to mentally flip it to my advantage and make it work for me. I knew I would never find that type of quiet peace with hearing, so I would read and let it soak in.  I told Jay I lost my hearing the morning of my aunt's funeral who died from cancer.  Jay was leaving the country that day but he came to the funeral anyway.  I got on my knees and prayed since my relationship with God supersedes all of this.  I felt like I let everybody down.  Jay whispered something in my ear and I had to tell him I couldn't hear him.  I had to eulogize my favorite aunt that day and I had to tell him I couldn't go in there.  I've never seen him that emotional before.  He said I need to man up RIGHT NOW and go back into that funeral.  I had to soldier up.  I even had to read the lips of my family--everyone was talking to me at this funeral and I couldn't hear them and they didn't know.

Here's the full 2 hour+ audio below.  She also speaks on what she learned from her stint in jail, why she hates blogs who just say anything, and more.

Ciara SUED For BACKING OUT Of Gay Pride EVENT! + K. Michelle BREAKS DOWN Performing "The Worst Man I Ever Had" In NYC

Singer Ciara was sued by an LA gay bar for backing out of a pride event.  Find out why CiCi's lawyer says the lawsuit is bogus inside and watch K. Michelle's tearful breakdown during her sold-out show in New York City....

"Body Party" singer Ciara was slapped with a lawsuit by "The Factory", a popular LA nightspot, that claims she backed out of one of their event's during L.A. Pride week.  Don't piss of the kids CiCi!

TMZ reported on the lawsuit, stating that the club claims Ciara signed a $10,000 deal to appear at the club on June 7 (tonight) before taking the main stage at the 2013 L.A. Pride parade tomorrow.  In the documents, the club says they didn't expect Ciara to perform, but she seemed amenable to making an "appearance". However, they claim Ciara unexpectedly pulled the plug on June 3, leaving the nightclub without a big star for tonight's pre-gay parade bash. They're now suing her for breach of contract and they want back all the money the club spent to promote her appearance PLUS the cash they're expected to lose.  Bloop.

But Ciara's rep thinks the whole case is bogus and released a statement saying,

"Ciara's commitment to perform at L.A. Gay Pride on Saturday night prevented her from making such a Friday night appearance. Despite being notified early last week that Ciara could not appear, the Factory continued to market and promote Ciara's appearance."

"The reason for the continued marketing/promotion is unclear, as it is not known why the Factory would intend to continue to mislead the public, to cause damage to the L.A. Gay Pride festival and to attempt to portray Ciara in a negative light.”

Ciara is expected to hit the stage tomorrow...

In other music news....

During a sold-out show at Highline Ballroom in New York last night, singer and “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” star K.Michelle donned a wedding veil and sparkling bodysuit to take her fans through an emotional performance of "The Worst Man I Ever Had", her take on Beyonce's"Best Thing I Never Had.

As she cried, she reportedly told her fans a testimony saying, “I thought my career was over. I thought it was over. I didn’t have anything and I still get angry and I think that’s the reason for a lot of things that I do that I shouldn’t. You can’t take the excuse, you just have to get better and say why and move forward.”  We have a few guesses who that's about...

She went on to grace fans with her new single, "When I Find a Man” and she sang her current radio track (which we love)"V.S.O.P.”

Watch K. Michelle "When I Find A Man":

K. Michelle's album, Rebellious Soul, is due July 30.

FOOLYWANG MATERIAL: Trifling Nashville Man Fathers 22 Children With 14 Women, Tells The Women (Sometimes BEFOREHAND) He CAN’T AFFORD Child Support!

 photo article-0-1A306BDE000005DC-746_634x472k.jpg

It's a real life WeTv-style reality show! A Nashville, TN man showed up to family court trying to explain why he fathered 22 children with 14 women and can’t pay child support. Watch the dude explain why taxpayers have to feed his brood inside….

If you thought the reality show “All My Babies Mamas” starring Shawty Lo was a far-fetched concept, meet Orlando Shaw. Orlando, who's from Nashville, TN, has gone viral for SURPASSING Shawty Lo’s previous "record" of 11 kids with 10 mothers by boasting 22 kids with 14 women (whom he NEVER married).

So how does a man support 22 children? He doesn’t. In fact, the state of Tennessee supports his offspring (to the tune of $7,000 a month).

After a child support hearing in family court, NewsChannel 5 asked the trifling playboy how he ended up in this situation, and he told them, “I was young and ambitious and I love women. You can’t knock no man for loving women.”  Wouldn't knock a man for using a Magnum either...

But if you think Orlando’s behavior was irresponsible, he made it clear that he’s not paying attention to what other folks think (although it’s the taxpayers who pay for his mistakes): 'I love my kids and I can care less about what anyone thinks about it”.

Back to the child support....Orlando explained that he can’t afford to take care of his kids because no one will hire someone with a criminal record. His bad!

He hopes that someone will give him a second chance, but he admitted, "To be honest....nothing comes to a dreamer."  He added,"But...I play the hell out of Tennessee lottery."  Deep sigh.

When asked if he planned to get a vasectomy, Orlando wouldn’t say “Yes” outright, but he insinuated that it's something he's strongly considering. We just want to know if the state of Tennessee would have to pay for that too.

In the latest issue of BILLBOARD Magazine, the gorge Janelle Monae reveals that she's ready take her music mainstream with her upcoming disc, Electric Lady.  The disc (no release date yet) will feature star turns from Prince and Miguel and is ready to set radio on fire.  In the cover story, Atlantic Records Group chairman/COO Julie Greenwald tells BILLBOARD,

"This album has a lot of songs that can get played on mainstream radio. Before, we got a lot of attention in the press, on the blogs, on the video networks. But we didn't crack the code at radio. So if you connect that last dot, it's going to be a significant improvement from the last album cycle. Which is really going to put her music in so many people's homes."

Throughout the profile piece, Janelle describe the how she's decided to shape and define her career on her own terms and how her struggle is universal. Here are a few quotables...

On individuality and controlling her own destiny:

"I never liked people telling me what to do," she says. "I also wanted to own something: I've always had this thought of owning my own label, of being in charge of my words, my art, everything you hear. My goal wasn't to be the most famous person overnight -- it was to make music on my own terms, develop myself and understand if my words were necessary to young people like myself and to make my family proud."

On the meaning of the song "Q.U.E.E.N.":

"I feel like there are constant parallels with me as a woman, being an African-American woman, to what it means for the community that people consider to be queer, the community of immigrants and the Negroid-the combination between the 'N' and the android. All of us have very similar fights with society and oppressors, with those who are not about love, who are more about judging. There are two different types of people: Some people come into this world to judge, some people come into this world to jam. Which one are you? It's a question we should all ask ourselves. My job is to create art that starts a dialogue, to create songs and lyrics that ask society these questions, by using myself as a sacrificial lamb."

Janelle's issue of Billboard is on newsstands now....

On a very special musical footnote, we'd like to wish Prince a happy 54th birthday!  What's your favorite song from the Purple One?

NEW MUSIC: Ciara's "Super Turnt Up"

Ciara is "Super Turnt Up" in love.  So she sang a song about it.  Like to hear it?  Check it inside...

Ciara rolled to Power 106 in L.A. this afternoon to premiere a new track of hers called "Super Turnt Up".  The coifed blondie keeps it upbeat on the dance track as she talks about getting a dose of a certain man and being turnt up because of his love.

This may serve as the official follow up to her single "Body Party":

It's the vintage light pop-lock-and drop it Ciara we're used to.  So check it out above.

 photo 3e02a4d8cefd11e29efd22000a1f9a07_7_zps5bf65ea4.jpg

CICi also appeared on the most recent episode of "The Show With Vinny" where celebs come to his home in Jersey and his mom cooks for them while the celebs chat it up.  On this episode, Ciara  (starting around the 11:40 mark) teaches Vinny, who has a crush on her, how to do the matrix dance move.  And she tries his mom's cannolis.

Ci taped this before she changed the title of her album to Ciara (dropping July 9th), by the way.
