VIBE is bringing us the "New Classics" for their April/May 2013 issue.  Singer Miguel and rapper Kendrick Lamar are the fresh faces spread out over three covers.  Check out their spreads, plus why Kendrick Lamar is set on working with Nas and why Miguel is OK with Frank Ocean's "announcement" overshadowing the music...

He's one of our fave rappers right now for a reason.  A hot flow, something of substance to say and always with an ill beat, Kendrick Lamar has the hip hop light shining brightly on Cali again (not that it ever totally left). 

So it's only right the "Swimming Pools (Drank)" rapper was chosen as 1/2 of the cover of the new issue.  EIC Jermaine Hall said about the choice, "Watching the rise of two future genius artists is rare.  With Kendrick’s classic debut and Miguel’s new-age soul dominance we wanted to celebrate these LA products in the moment. They are appropriate look-forwards to an issue crowning the culture’s best.”

On working with Nas (who people often compare him to) on KL's next album: 

KL: “I never got a chance to reach out to him (Nas). I was so wrapped up in getting the music done and samples cleared and mastered. I didn't wanna rush the process; I actually wanted to sit in the studio and vibe with him. [It was] the only thing that I had a vision for that I sought out to accomplish, but in due time…”

On which artist puts them on their toes and to go harder:
KL: “My partner J. Cole is always keeping it to the point where you have to show and prove. My partner Drake kills it.”

M: “What's fucked up about R&B is that that camaraderie doesn't exist. I don't really know why.”

On the biggest risk they’ve taken artistically:
M: “Overall it doesn’t sound like any other R&B album that’s been put out in the past decade…I remember having a conversation with Mark, my A&R like, “Man, I don’t know if they’re going to get this shit.””

KL: “The idea of a concept record has been lost for a long time – will that translate to 16-year-old kids in high school rather than the super energetic joint on the radio? I definitely had that in the back of my mind when I was creating this album.”

On Frank Ocean’s announcement:
M: “In all reality, Frank Ocean took a big chance the way that artists are supposed to. Sonically and how he writes and what he’s writing about and how he chooses to express himself vocally, all his choices are very unique and I appreciate that about him. Not only did his announcement overshadow my music, but it overshadowed his as well.

A chick named Jenna Shea, known for being a blonde with a big ass and big boobs to boot who poses for booty magazines and also...allegedly...any celeb that will pay her for a private session, is up to her old tricks again.

She previously exposed her sexcapades with Yung Berg, Fabolous, Soulja Boy, James Harden via a heaux's fave tool--Twitter.  And now, she's moved on to the newest baller in the spotlight-- Senior star Peyton Siva of the Louisville Kentucky college basketball team who just copped the NCAA championship last night.

In Peyton's Twitter bio and his post game interviews, he thanked his girlfriend and Jesus for helping him accomplish his dream.  Jenna caught feelings, even though he is NOT her man, and felt she needed to be thanked as well.  And the folks over at Hit Em Where They Aint caught her extra thirsty tweets about it.

She doesn't explicitly say she let him smash, but she surely insinuates it.  Why else would she want to be thanked?

Jenna tweeted proof that Peyton had been blowing up her phone recently and was asking her to engage in some trifling behavior...even though he has a girlfriend that he acknowledges publicly.

Jenna said late last night she doesn't care if the guys she sexes are in a relationship.  She just wants her money. 

So, heaux (since this is what you call yourself)...get out your feelings and get your money.  Now if he didn't pay you, there's an issue to be had.  But you agreed to get paid for your sexy time or welcomed the advances from dudes so fall back.  Heauxs don't get respect because they don't respect themselves.  But regardless, why are you asking to get acknowledged for his championship because you allegedly gave him some time or booty?

The heaux then went on a rant about being a "businesswoman". "People are so simple minded and i clearly know how to push buttons but lets get real college bball aint my thang i like big bucks...im a business woman."

Let this be another lesson to you silly men who fall for a big butt and a smile every time and get your career tainted....it's a new day in heauxdom.  Chicks want your cash AND public props for their work.  Please act accordingly.

Rapper Nicki Minaj is back with a video for "Up In Flames."  Watch the clip inside and see what Meek Mill had to say while defending the lyrics of Rick Ross.  

Although her "High School" video is barely a week old, Nicki keeps the momentum going with "Up In Flames", another visual from Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded the Re-Up. The Grizz Lee-directed clip focuses on Nicki's creative process as she works on lyrics in the studio, sits at a piano (which she never plays), poses in front of a room of candles and includes several scenes of rumored boyfriend Sarafee.  Since he's trying to get on with a solo rap career himself, it makes sense.

In other music news...

As rape survivor groups pressure Reebok to drop rapper Rick Ross from their list of spokesmen, Rick's protege Meek Mill has stepped up to the plate to defend him and his controversial lyrics. 

During an interview with the Urban Informer, Meek defended the "U.O.E.N.O." song saying, “I don’t even care about nobody criticizing no lyrics. People rap about killing stuff all day. Biggie said, Rape your kid. Throw her over the bridge.’ It was nothing, it was just hip-hop.”

Meek totals blows off the concerns of rape survivors and other activist groups saying, 

"Now you got all these weirdos on these social sites voicing their opinion about something anybody say. I don’t care. I’m from the ‘hood. I never really cared about what nobody say in no rap. Rap’s always been talking about killing, drugs, all types of stuff.”

Smh....that's a very mature way to look at things Meek.  

He went on to explain that Rick was just being creative and people shouldn't take it so literal.  “It’s imaginary visual. If a writer write about somebody getting raped in a movie, that mean he a rapist or he want girls to get raped? No, he just wrote about that in a movie.”

Unfortunately, Meek's "I don't care" attitude seems right in line with Rick's half-assed apologies from a few days ago.   These dudes just don't seem to make a mental connection between what they are rapping about the impact it might have on their audience or just society in general.  It's pretty sad that they don't take their own lyrics more seriously.

"The Game" star Hosea Chanchez posed for SHEEN Magazine's first Men's issue where he described his ideal woman and his interesting in producing.  See pics and highlights inside and find out the name of the Think Like A Man sequel and get the release date...

The latest issue of SHEEN Magazine is all about the fellas with the magazine tapping "The Game" star Hosea Chanchez to grace the cover.  Inside the issue, the 32-year-old actor opened up about the departure of former co-stars, Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry- Hardrict and his desire to produce his own work. He also revealed the type of woman he'd like to marry. Here are the highlights:

On producing his own works:
“Producing is something that I am diving myself into, and I am a writer by nature. I love creating things and using my own artistic integrity for my choices. I want to get my idea of good work out there and not just be a part of someone else’s idea of good work…I like characters and people that don’t get that much exposure.”

On his dream woman:
“She would have to be secure, honest, self-aware, wealth-aware. She has to have her own mindset and be a woman against all odds. She has to be independent.”

And at the movies...

Fans of the hit flick Think Like A Man will be pleased to know that the movie's sequel has been given both a title and a release date. Film powerhouse Sony/Screen Gems and producer Will Packer have announced that Think Like a Man Too will hit the big screen on May 30, 2014.

Writers Keith Merryman and David A. Newman, who wrote the first film, will return as writers and shooting will likely begin for the end of the year.

Details about the film's new storyline and which cast members are set to return are all up in the air.  But Kevin Hart revealed on "The Wendy Show" a while back he's hoping all the characters return in some capacity.

The Randomness:

1.  Pilar Sanders is writing a tell-all book about her life, titled, Saving Sanders: The Pilar Sanders Untold Story. STORY

Brooklyn goes hard....with or without Jay-Z as the face of its NBA franchise.  Deets on Mr. Carter reportedly selling his shares of the BK Nets, plus more updates (and criticisms) about the Carters chillin' in Cuba....

Well that was quick.  After one season at the Barclays center and years of working to bring the team to BK, it looks like Jay-Z may be already selling off his shares of the team. 

Yahoo Sports is reporting that Mr. Carter is looking to "divest his ownership share" -- meaning sell off his share -- of the Nets.  And it's all because he wants to expand his Roc Nation Sports division, which recently signed Yankee Robinson Cano, into the world of professional basketball.  According to NBA rules, one cannot have ownership in a team and represent individual players at the same time.  So Hov is going the agent route.

He owns less than 1% of the Nets, but is undoubtedly the face of the franchise.  He propelled the team to a big name status, and he's gotten rewarded in return with tons of publicity, lots of face time on and off the Barclays stage, and the opportunity to brand his existing catalog of music into the NBA franchise.  Business doesn't always mean cash is involved....notoriety, platforms and clout are parts of the equation too. 

It looks like Hov may be leaving with exactly what he came in to get, so it may be a win-win for everyone. 

Meanwhile, Jay and his wife Beyonce are still under fire from political figures and others for their anniversary vacay to Cuba.

The NY Daily News reports that the twosome obtained a cultural license to visit the country that is off limits legally to most Americans.  A US government license must be issued, only in special circumstances, in order for an American to travel to the country.  The creative license allowed the couple to travel there for their 5th wedding anniversary.

Yet and still, people are pissed as some say The Carters are co-signing on an oppressive & abusive country. 

So, of course, Stacey Dash put in her 2 cents as the right wing mouth piece.  But, since we're here and presenting all sides, here's what she asked her Twitter followers:

Do you care that The Jay Z's have taken the capital you have given them and funded a communist oppressive regime?

Rihanna took her Diamonds tour to Anaheim, CA last night.  And she seems to have become even more confused about love after her on again off again boyfriend Chris Brown popped up at her L.A. concert the previous night....

After making her grand Givenchy entrance on stage in Anaheim last night, Rihanna opened up a bit to her fans about how she's feeling about love right now.

Right before introducing her "What Now" heartache style song off her Unapologetic album, Rih told the crowd:

'How many of you are in love?...How many of you hate love? How many of you don't f**king understand it? I'm in that group.'

With breakup rumors swirling this week (none of which we've been able to confirm ourselves), it's interesting to note that Chris indeed showed up to support Rih Rih at her L.A. concert earlier this week:

He was spotted in the VIP area near the sound booth and avoided the paparazzi.  But a few of Rih's fans spotted him.

Are the twosome just trying to find their footing again as their busy careers go on?  That's pretty common for passionate 20-somethings, so we'll wait and see how this all turns out.

Our suspicions were confirmed last night when rapper Big Sean and his new girlfriend "Glee" star Naya Rivera made their official debut as a couple. Find out where they went inside....

With his arm around her shoulder and his tongue in her ear, "A$$" rapper Big Sean made it no secret that "Glee" star Naya Rivera is rolling with his "Clique."

The good looking couple debuted as a twosome last night at the premiere of Warner Bros. Pictures' And Legendary Pictures' 42 at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Naya, who wore a grey snakeskin dress and white pumps, and Sean looked pretty hot as a couple.  We'll see where this goes....

The President and First Lady hosted Memphis Soul night at the White House last night with soulful performances from Queen Latifah, Justin Timberlake and "American Idol" finalist Joshua Ledet.  See pics from the upcoming broadcast inside.... 

Last night, President Barack Obama and wife Michelle brought "Memphis Soul" to the White House for a taped special airing as part of their "In Performance at the White House" series. 

Mr. Prez opened the evening with remarks about Memphis Soul and its historical importance in creating a sense of racial harmony during one of the nation's darkest period. 

"Memphis, Tennessee, was segregated in the 1960s, but blacks and whites came together despite the institutional racism to create a soulful blend of gospel and rhythmic blues music that sought to 'bridge those divides, to create a little harmony with harmony." 

Queen Latifah was among the A-list celebs who graced the stage, putting their own spin on soulful classics.  She was joined by Booker T. Jones, Cyndi Lauper and Justin Timberlake and others. 

First Lady Michelle Obama rocked a daring, off-the-shoulder, gown for the swanky event held in the East Room.  

The President and First Lady were joined by Sasha, Malia and the First Granny, Marian Robinson, who all got a kick out of watching President Obama bust out some dance moves during the concert.  The entire evening is set to air as a PBS special on on April 16.

Budweiser's Made In America Festival is returning to Philly Labor Day weekend.  And the official lineup has just been announced.  Check out who's hitting the many stages of the 2-day Fest inside....

After last year's huge turnout, Jay-Z & Budweiser are back with the second annual Made In America festival.

On the bill this year: Jay's wife Beyonce as the headliner, and also her little sis Solange is hitting one of the stages as well (y'all already know that's a package deal).  Other hot R&B singers rounding out the line up are Miguel and Emeli Sande.

Rappers Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar are on the bill. And Public Enemy and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will also be making their Made In America debut.

As for rock artists, Nine Inch Nails is the second headlinerand plenty of other bands will be hitting the stages.

Noticeably absent from the line up is the man who had a major part in creating the festival with Budweiser--Jay-Z himself.  He headlined last year (in addition to popping up during Pearl Jam's performance) and brought his homie Kanye and G.O.O.D. Music out for half his set.  But we all know he'll be making some non-surprise appearances during more than one of these performances.

In the random news of the day, baller Delonte West popped up on Twitter today after being away for a while, just to announce some big news.  Check it inside...

Delonte West, the former Cleveland Cavs baller who was rumored to be smashing his then teammate LeBron James' mom, is now married.

LeBron & Delonte both denied anything was going on between Gloria James& Delonte, but plenty of sources say they knew the twosome were doing some scandalous deeds behind Bron Bron's back...and it was causing trouble in the locker room.

Now, three years later, the 29-year-old just announced he's married....and expecting twins!  He posted the above pics with his new wife at the Justice of the Peace and tweeted from his now private account:

The baller, who was vocal about applying for a job at Home Depot during the NBA lockout, was sent to the NBA D-League back in January to play for the Texas Legends.  And he's been suiting up for games with that team since March 16th.

In one of the realest interviews from someone who was in the industry but not of the industry, Dame Dash clears up what really went down with his infamous career.

Dame drops knowledge about why he's left the fake industry for good and why everything went down with Jay-Z, Aaliyah, Rachel Roy& Rocafella the way it did....

He's known as the original a**hole of the hip hop industry.  But he's also one of the first to truly build and own the rap brands he worked with. And with that, comes drama.  We haven't heard from him in years, but here's the lowdown if you've ever wondered (and we know we have) why the 41-year-old REALLY left his long time business partners like Jay-Z & Rocafella.  The 41-year-old dad of four also addresses the long time beef with Just Blaze (who shows up as well for some awkward talk).

Dame explained why he hates working with men in the industry, and prefers working with females. "Men can be too insecure. The more you do for a guy, the more they resent you.  I prefer working with females [like ex-wife Rachel Roy] because the more success you get, they take it as their success too.  They're thankful."

Interesting.

Dame drops some knowledge about the fake titles, fake power and fake people in the often fake industry.  If he didn't own it and it wasn't authentic, Dame wasn't having it.  He essentially let us know that being handed a title and some cash in a deal wasn't the way he wanted to win. But it's the way many people he worked with in the industry did want to win.  Instead, he wanted to own and completely control the deal.  So now he's clearing the air about being the bad guy.  And he's also talking about those "broke" rumors.

Rapper Nas is expanding his empire, adding the re-launch of MASS APPEAL Magazine to his listing of ownings.  See why Nas decided to invest in the re-launch and what it holds for his future inside....

Fans of the original Mass Appeal Magazine, a graffiti magazine founded in 1996, get excited.  The magazine will be rebooted with Nas (shown above on its 2002 cover) as its Associate Publisher. 

The rapper spoke to FORBES recently about his new acquisition, explaining that he was disappointed with the lack of options available to readers interested in hip hop culture. 

“Mass Appeal has a legacy and respect. It already has a foundation … I just feel like I can add on because I can lend my kind of cultural expertise and my professional acumen, and develop the business.”  He added,  "They invested into the culture … I saw their vision for what they planned and I thought I could add value across the board."

After a five-year hiatus, the magazine's re-launch as a quarterly print product with web, video , monthly event components, is thanks to a hefty six-figure investment from the Life Is Good rapper.

While other rap moguls like Jay-Z, Diddy and 50 Cent each began exploring big business opportunities early in their careers, Nas explained his late start saying,

“I knew that this was down the road,” he says. “I didn’t care to interrupt me being a creative musical artist … I said I’ll be more of a businessman down the road. I’m down the road now.”

As a far as getting any criticism from the magazine about his own contributions to hip hop, Nas is letting his editorial board off the hook saying,

“If that happens, I don’t want to see it until it’s out,” he says. “I won’t get involved with that at all … I won’t touch anything, they’re free to say whatever they want. They can say I’m a psychopath, they can say I’m a sweetheart … as long as it’s from their honest opinion, that’s all that matters to me.”

Congrats to Nas!  Glad he's working on business moves outside that rap life.

Kim Porter better have Diddy call up every lawyer on speed dial.  Because a brand new lawsuit filed against her by her ex-nanny is a doozy.  Get the deets inside about how Diddy's baby's mama allegedly treats the twins...according to the former employee....

Whether these allegations are true or not, Kim Porter's reputation as the relatively drama free mother of Diddy's kids will be tarnished for even being caught up in this--at least for now.

A woman named Dawn Drago, who worked for Kim as her kids' nanny from 2011-2012, filed a lawsuit against Kim after she was fired.

Dawn claims in the suit some interesting things:  1) Kim chain smoked pot in the house when the girls, Jessie James & D'Lila Star, were home, 2) The girls were at one point covered in a "mysterious white powder" after they had gotten into a bag of Kim's pills that were capsules and Ms. Porter said was "medicine" and 3) Kim verbally & violently abused her.

As for that powder, it could be baby powder and the "capsule" story could be a fraud.  Or it actually could have been something way harder than weed.

We wouldn't be surprised if any of these things ended up being true.  But will the nanny just end up sounding like a bitter & fired employee? 

TMZ reports Dawn is seeking unspecified damages.  I know Kim hopes her baby mama status will provide her with all the financial and legal protection Diddy can offer...

While sites around the net reported that Chris Brown & Rihanna broke up (again) earlier this week after an inside source told them the two were done, your fave makeups to breakups couple snapped a pic together yesterday in L.A. to prove the doubters wrong.

She says she doesn't understand love, but she knows she loves herself some Breezy.  Rihanna Instagrammed a pic of her and her boo snuggled up and riding around L.A. after she brought her Diamonds tour to Anaheim the other night.

Chris went to her Staples Center show earlier this week to show support, which was the first clue the break up rumors were just rumors.

Lil Miss Sunshine kept up the playful snaps and gave a shout out to her boo's upcoming new album X saying,"Yellow model chick in my yellow ass dress wit my yellow nigga X."  

Meanwhile, Chris is focused on his music as he's on Fabolous' new song called "Ready".  And the fellas just dropped the video.  Check out the sexy hotel room lovin' and romantic dinner dates with their gals below:

By the way, Chris' bodyguard Pat is now suing WIP nightclub over that Chris/Drake fight incident.  His head was cracked open with cuts and he suffered bad injuries that he's now seeking damages for.  Pat says the club should have known better--due to Chris & Drake's public beef--than to let both stars inside the venue at the same time.

The Roc is back in the building as Jay-Z has some things to get off his chest.  Check out his response to all the critics who have been going in on him lately in his new track "Open Letter."

This week was filled with everyone from Congressmen to celebs we forgot about going in on Jay & his wife for traveling to Cuba for their 5th anniversary.  But even though Beyonce & Jay received a cultural license to legally travel to the forbidden country, protestors and activists were pissed at the Carters for supporting a "repressive regime" such as Cuba.

So after a week of criticism, an epic interview from Dame Dash who exposed what really went down with their business, and the usual scrutiny, Jay took it to the studio to give his response in a few bars.

Activists have been accusing President Obama of being "soft" on the Carters and their decision to travel to Cuba.  So, Jay spit a line about the President saying they want to impeach him after his administration approved their license to visit the country.  This ought to stir up some ish.

A new lawsuit by a disgruntled Universal Music Group employee makes explosive allegations about rampant sex, partying and drug use at the Universal west coast office....but it's the names that appear in the lawsuit that raise the most eyebrows.  Inside, go behind the scenes at UMG with Macy Gray, Future, T.I. and others....allegedly!

An explosive lawsuit filed by a former UMG employee, in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleges the company's "anything goes" philosophy when it came to its high profile celebrities and executives created quite the hostile work environment.  

The plaintiff, a 41-year-old African American female security guard, alleges the office was "infiltrated with pervasive drug use where you could smell marijuana seeping from various offices and openly used in common areas, and lounges."

And if that wasn't enough, "artists and high-profile celebrities began visiting the premises with drugs in hand and oftentimes offering drugs to Plaintiff, which she refused."

The lawsuit goes on to namecheck drug use or drug paraphernalia by singer Macy Gray and "entourages" of Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx, MC Ren, rapper T.I. and "The Voice" judge Adam Levine.

To make it worse, the plaintiff says that once she "became torn between her professional integrity and losing her job," her objections were laughed off. And eventually, after submitting her written complaints, she was informed by her manager that she was suspended...and eventually fired!

Some interesting gems from the lawsuit include finding people passed out in bathrooms strewn with condoms after long nights or partying and drinking. Also, T.I. security guards like to park VERY close to the front door....and they refused to move when asked because, they said, they need to be ready just in case a shooting breaks out!

And when folks like head honcho Jimmy Iovine showed up at the office, it mysteriously began to smell like a day spa with incense and candles burning everywhere.  Plus, she alleges he showed up with "Idol" contestants who were blazing up some weed.

And then there's also a dose of good old-fashioned sexual harassment of the UMG employees thrown in for good measurement.  SMH.....sounds like a summer internship you'd never forget!

The plaintiff says she was fired when she told her operations manager at the security company about the T.I. incident.  Apparently, they didn't appreciate her snitching, so they told the plaintiff she had "complaints" about her performance and suspended her.  Later, she was permanently terminated.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, she's suing Universal Music Group-owned UMPG, her employer Universal Protection Services, the building's management and others over alleged labor violations, including a hostile work environment.

So far, all a spokesperson for UMG had to say was "While we cannot comment on the allegations between the plaintiff and her employer, we can say that the allegations as they relate to Universal Music Group are absurd."

We're keeping an eye on this one. Where there's smoke....
